  • Thanks for the great feedback everyone! Just wanted to give this a little more visibility: I'm getting a lot of comments asking me to not take 5 months to make videos, and quite frankly, I agree! I would LOVE to be able to make these on a more regular basis, but the problem is that I gotta eat meaning I gotta get paid meaning I gotta spend time doing things other than OverSimplified. In addition, it seems that these new videos aren't getting many ads on them, probably because they're about Nazis and KZhead's new advertiser-friendly rules are shockingly not keen on Nazis. The revenue reports are coming in and let's just say I'm a lot like Alois at the start of these videos; not really rolling in cash (but unlike Alois I'm also not really rolling in women), which is a bit disappointing after months of work (especially the no women part). So if you'd like to see more OverSimplified on a more regular basis, please consider supporting me on Patreon: www.patreon.com/OverSimple Whatever the case, I'll be getting WW2 out as soon as I physically can! Thanks again for all the support!

Did this guy do an over simplified video on hitlers obsession with that? I'll have to check. The dravidians have done our people a service. Without their preservation and interpretation, it would be lost forever. I doubt what Rome confiscated during the northern crusades will ever see the light of day.

  • One thing I love about history is how you can always retroactively pinpoint particular moments in time where, if this had happened differently, the world would be unrecognizable. The butterfly effect is fascinating. For instance, if the art school in Vienna had accepted him, would he have ever needed to join the army? If Germany’s humiliating defeat and post WWI treatment hadn’t happened or hadn’t been so devastating, would he have been radicalized? If France hadn’t brutally occupied part of Germany after their currency crisis made them unable to pay the reparations, would he have risen to power in the nazi party? If Avon Hindenburg hadn’t died, would he have taken complete power? So many stones along the road that, if slightly changed, would make the destination radically different. That’s why I love history, the analysis that comes after.

    • Agreed. I just find learning about history absolutely fascinating , because these events basically defined the world I live in. Though most of it is filled with extremely unfortunate incidents , just this mere ability to know about the past is exciting.

    • That is called chance and choice...not happenstance everything begins and is with it without choice...I could argue that even though he didn't get accepted to art school, could he have been anything other than what he became...the answer is yes..your questions and theories are invalid due to the fact you can literally say that about anything...also such as if he use his power for great...it's the mind of the man that makes the world not the world that makes the man

    • You could argue that there was destined to be a Hitler because of Germany's post ww1 treatment. So even if it wasn't Hitler, someone else would most likely take his place. The most important stone along the road is Germany's post ww1 treatment, which is why they treated Germany so much better the second time around.

  • I think this should be mandated to be taught in schools lol. Not just for its amazing ability to present knowledge, but also just to help people learn about Hitler in general. So many people today hate Hitler (which, of course, is the right thing) for no other reason than because. They hear about the Holocaust and that's it, that's all they need to know. I think it's kind of sad that people don't care much to actually learn about why someone acted or behaved the way they do. And, personally, learning about the lives of people like Hitler actually teaches empathy. Most people probably didn't know anything about Hitler's early life, his abuse from his father, the love and grief he experienced for his brother and mother, his struggles living on the streets, his time as a soldier, it kind of puts into persepective that as disgusting and evil as he was and the things he did, he was still human. Same thing for the struggles the German people went through: you don't normally think of Germany as victims after or right before WWI and WWII, but hearing about the economical struggles and of how they were treated by the French is enlightening. All of it just makes you realize that things are never as simple as "this person or these people are evil and have always been evil," but rather, there are layers in dimensions to why people become the people they do, and how things end up they way they do as well.
