“He’s Got To GO!” - Met Police Chief Faces Calls To Quit Over Handling Of Pro-Palestinian Protest
A pro-Palestine march which organisers claim could attract “hundreds of thousands” of protesters is to take place in London on Saturday, as police said the risk of disorder is not high enough to seek a ban.
The march organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) will assemble at Parliament Square from 12pm and set off half-an-hour later on a route ending at Hyde Park, where speeches will be given.
The group said it expects “hundreds of thousands of people” to attend the event in response to Israel’s “brutal attack” on Gaza.
A static demonstration organised by pro-Israel group Enough is Enough will take place at the same time in Pall Mall, along the route of the pro-Palestine march.
A third demonstration organised by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) was due to take place on Saturday from 12pm until 2pm but was cancelled the day before.
The organisation said it cancelled the “walk together” event - expected to attract thousands of people - after receiving threats and identifying “hostile actors” who posed a risk to the safety of Jews.
The now-cancelled CAA event had been arranged after the organisation’s founder, Gideon Falter, was threatened with arrest at a pro-Palestinian demonstration earlier this month, with one officer describing Mr Falter, who was wearing a kippah, as “openly Jewish”.

Our policing in London during these marches - are nothing to be proud of . To me - if everyone cannot walk freely in our streets because of Palestinian marches . Stop ALL marches. There is a right to peaceful protest, which means free speech, not action. People marching are intended to intimidate not to offer an argument. If you can’t allow EVERY group to march, you can’t allow any.

I'm a retired Met Officer and I agree with Peter Bleksley, however there's an important point that's not being discussed. Each officer is INDIVIDUALLY accountable under the law for THEIR personal behaviour. The policing model is one where no senior ranks can order an officer to do anything which is unlawful, unjustifiable or disproportionate etc. Each officer is DUTY BOUND to refuse to carry out unlawful orders. I refused a fair few "orders" I wasn't happy with during my service and I believe this robot mentality is the reason the Met recruit from the young woke demographic these days. There's plenty of Ex forces people out there who would be far better suited. Thing is they would be more likely to challenge senior ranks and that just won't do..... So recruiting children it is for now

They are not keeping the peace ‘at all costs’. Stopping fights is not keeping the peace. They are allowing one group to have dominance. Keeping the peace means everyone has peace.
If the marchers are not peaceful, the marches should not be allowed. If they were genuinely peaceful, there would be no need to appease the marchers by removing anyone who opposes to those marches.
They hold counter protests at most events. But it's the police's job to keep them separate. What Gideon was doing was clear provocation, that's why he was threatened with arrest. But you already know this.

Talking to someone I know, who is in the police service, he is just working hos time, till he retires, he said to me the leaders of the police are now politicians, not coppers. Je says they can't police like they used to.
