Couple Says Squatter Keeps Them From Moving Into New Home

A California couple says they can’t move into their new home because the previous owner refuses to leave and can’t be kicked out because of the state’s ongoing freeze on evictions during the pandemic. Tracie and Myles Albert used their savings to buy a four-bedroom home in Riverside 14 months ago. They’ve been paying the mortgage every month, but haven’t been able to move in. "He just said he wasn't leaving, that was it. Wasn't going to leave the house, barricaded himself in the house,” Myles said. #InsideEdition
That man no longer owns the house and is simply trespassing on that couple’s property. He should be evicted because he’s the one trespassing, not the couple who owns the house.
Exactly... I don't understand the stupid surrounding this. If they bought the house in January before corona. Why weren't the cops present while the old owners were being forced out??! These people were being way too nice to this guy at the beginning. Jan 20 papers signed, Jan 21 police kicking out the tenants. How hard is that??
You were right, I think they should've called the cops.
@@itisicountolaf.yournewguar6111 The cops can’t do anything. They’ve tried to call the cops. Here in CA squatters have rights and can’t be touched by law enforcement. It’s completely absurd and not fair but that’s how it goes here.
The issue is we need to make sure there is no squatter laws to prevent the owners from their home being moved into!!!!

I actually feared this. I bought a home in Texas and the pervious owners had not communicated with me at all about their move out or wanting to do a lease back. I arrived at the home Friday night before our closing Monday. They had not packed a single box. My realtor said they legally still owned the home and they technically did have to be out of the home. The home was still packed with their stuff. I grew concerned and told my realtor I would not sign the closing documents without a final walkthrough the day of ensuring they were out. The previous owners were livid at me. They had to pack an entire home by themselves in two days. There realtor would help them pack, and I would later learn they did not have money for movers nor truck. They literally took the light bulbs out of every light. Left me trash, broken furniture and a weight set....Parts of their RV septic system. They did remove the bulk of their stuff. I signed the documents, as it was bad enough to notice but my lease was ending on my home. I fully believe they were not planning on leaving either out of a necessity or simply didn't care about my needs.

Big gun make him leave he no want to leave I send him to gulag😈
I would burn it down🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I am not a patient person, and if I bought a house 14 months ago and couldn't get into it because of some moron, some crimes would have been committed by then.
This is the exact situation I’m in at the moment lawmakers don’t wanna make anyone unhappy and so they claim that because of the coronavirus they can’t force anyone to leave the house went in my situation they never paid for the house they’ve never owned a house but because they’re squatting in it I can’t even walk into my new house
How is he not arrested ? This is insane to me. They should sue them for all the money they spent on mortgage they got scammed !!!
He can't get arrested because of new laws. Maybe when the pandemic is over in 50 years
@@ld1065 they said that they closed on the house in January 2020 so they were the owners since then so it was an issue before pandemic
@@co123 sadly it doesn't work like that.
@@co123 Yeah. The pandemic wasn’t declared until March. The new laws about not being allowed to kick people out would not apply here. Why does the court keep pushing back their case?
Because criminals have more rights.
I’d stop paying the mortgage.
He is not a renter, so how does this apply?
Two years ago, during the closing of my house, the real estate agent, the owner and myself found squatters in my soon to be house. It was a young man and his girlfriend. They said they rented the house from someone on Craigslist. It took the owner a month of going to court before the marshals finally came to get them out. Even though he was a scammer, squatters seem to have more rights than the home owner.
Squatters show have minimal to no rights
The comment below me 2x has more likes than me
@@JoshuaBd yes, I agree! The squatters had the nerve to try to blackmail the private detective that the owner hired to look into who these squatters were. One day the detective knocked on the door to talk to them. They told the detective they would leave for $3,000 if no money is given, they're staying. Even though they were squatters, I did feel bad to see all of their furniture eventually put out on the street.
This world makes the opposite of sense.
@@oouziii4679 🤣 true!
I love how the woman was the one that tried to kick down the door, while the guy was just standing back and watching.
Hes shy
Why does gender matter here tho?
@@pussydestroyer69285 Because he’s a man? Shouldn’t he be a gentleman and plus he’s probably stronger than her
@@Tiger-cm2rp so what? She was the one who decided to do the kicking. You want him to be like “stop, I’m the man let me do it”? That’s literally stupid. Lol. Maybe he’s not a violent man. So what?
@@pussydestroyer69285 I wouldn’t wanted him to do that yes. And that doesn’t make him violent it shows that he defends what is his. And obviously he lacks self defense with the fact he let a grown man live in his house for so long
I am a senior single woman tenant. I took a young guy ESL student, and after he got in to my place he stopped school. I asked him to leave based on written agreement i had with him, but he doesn't care. I slept in shelters/street last week.I am paying high rent and called useless van police, but they don't help!! Any advice at all?!!! I have my sick dog with me in streets, whereas he is half my age, has a car and sleeping in my bedroom!!! God please have merci on me and help!!!!!!
This is so insane that this is allowed to happen.
If that was my house, there would b a violent “break and enter.”
Just a casual B&E with a sprinkle of second degree murder.
Well it would be your own property, have at it 😂
I would just straight baseball bat his ass and be like damn this crazy dude broke into my house.
Yep!
You'd be in jail and we'd be laughing at you.
I wouldn’t even want to live there anymore.. I’m sure he’s going to or already has damaged soo much purposely out of spite 🤦🏽♀️
Unfortunately you're probably right!
Yes I wouldn't live there
Unfortunately they have already purchased the house so whether he is damaging it or not they will be the ones stuck with any kind of repair needed.
@@Jessica-gk5tt not true
Well, that's the problem. They own it...they signed the papers, so they're on the hook for the mortgage and monthly payments. They might be able to sue after the squatters move out, but that would also be drawn-out and painful. The Sheriff's office is not being as creative and helpful as they could be. If these folks were influential politicians, the Sheriff would have figured out a way to get the squatters out by now. And yes, the occupants will probably damage the home out of spite.
Give him a short sweet ER visit instead of whining.
Was there ever an update on this case?
