I think this is bc there are modders that can add ppl they want to grief to a list, and whenever that person logins in the modder can join the world and instantly grief them Essentially making the game unplayable for whoever is on the list even if your are in passive, this happened to me a few months back and I took a break from the game for a few months until I figured that dude moved on

@@markstewart4282 Same here. And with T2’s ties with SBI, it doesn’t look like it’s going to made for the Mature GTA Players who’ve supported the franchise for years. It’s going to be *heavily* monetized, adjusted for little kids (because “why not” they buy Shark Cards and parents let them play), and full of political bs that removes the satire that made the originals the best. I’ll stick with playing GTA4, 5, Max Payne 1 - 3, Bully, and other older game titles like many are doing now when 6 comes out. Current GTAO has given me a decade of fun and that’s enough for me.

I still can’t do MC businesses in public lobbies. Last 6 out of 8, I had to change sessions. How much money do you get for griefing? 2000 dollars. How much money do you lose when you get griefed? Can be millions.

My golden rule is never grief someone doing sale missions, cargo and Lower level players or any one player repeatedly unless it turns into pvp. I like finding low level players and letting them drive any vehicle of mine they want. Other than that the game is literally designed for players to fight each other!
Exactly the same. As I’ve been playing since 2013 I practically have everything. The other day, a rank 42 was trying to complete Torched “a MC mission” but was being fought by 4 random players preventing him from doing it successfully. Went to help him but the game greyed them out as allies and I couldn’t take ‘em out therefore I lent him my Khanjalee. He completed the mission and destroyed those four whilst I laughed with every kill he achieved. 😂

Thermal sniper than can see you as you spawn, Orbital cannon, vehicles like the Toreador, Opressors, Raiju... ...and of top of that, Global Signal that literally screams "Hey this guy is doing a sale, ruin his entire grind for 20 dollars", messages every player that has the same business to go after you. and they expect people to not go around griefing. At that point they might as well remove a ton of content, and every gun. Yknow, because guns end the player, and repeatedly ending them is griefing.... :v

I actually agree with the grief as far as racing goes. It is so damn frustrating to wait 10 minutes for a race to start and then have several idiots sit in front of you or purposely drive backwards to try and wreck you💯

Wanting to make money with a live service game since developing cycles for their games are 15+ years. The average GTA online experience is trash. Whether it's modders, oppressor griefers, wannabe fighter pilot jets, more people play invite only than public lobby. I bet those figures are nice and juicy with shark cards, but their mmo is incomplete when those high spenders refuse to play with the public. Personally, I'm never going to another public lobby again, and I know several others that are in the same boat.

This is a message to Rockstar Games, besides Banning people for griefing which I'll be honest the griefing in this game if some of the worst I've ever seen, I think a better option would have been using the exact same anti griefing measures as Red Dead online where whoever would start the fight will be put in manual aim and marked as an aggressor and you would be able to Parlay them so they won't be able to kill you for 15 minutes

This is a great leap backward. I boot up GTA Online to have fun, to have satisfaction, to forget the real world for a second. Now I have to worry about whether or not I have broken the new community guidelines, somehow, that I might or might not get ban. Not that far off with follow the law in real life to stay out of jail. The fact that auto banning can be trip off as with what happened to Ghillie doesn't help improving the situation any further. Rockstar just made the game a bit much of a ban hammer minefield, in my honest opinion.

I'm high level so I don't really get griefed. But sometimes I grief people for blowing me up when I'm driving, I think that's fair, because you know it's some kid with no skill who does that for hours. But it's on R* for adding that stuff, of course kid's are gunna use it. Basically forcing everyone to only drive Imani tech, which gets boring after a while.
I think griefing ban will only apply to the worst of the worst, level 1078 4.68 KD only uses oppressor, spawn kills, doesn't let anyone do anything in session. Basically no life losers who take out their misery on others

Now thinking about it, Rockstar is probably implementing these guidelines for new players or people revisiting GTAO. Think about it, many people have left this game due to the insane toxicity that surrounds this playerbase. But if less people are being toxic in fear of being banned or hit with consequences, more people will play this game and in Rockstar's eyes, More people = more money. But those are just my thoughts who knows
Rockstar has been going woke for awhile. While this isn't the first time they've done something in the past couple years to protect the feelings of others because apparently the second anyone's feelings get hurt in a game about murder and theft, there's real problems, I will say this does appear to be the only move they made in direction of wokism that might actually have a legitimate reason for it, with GTA6 around the corner and this year being the last year to receive updates, as well as this year probably getting the biggest updates thus far, it would make sense that they'd try to attract back some of their player base. The idea is right, the execution is wrong.

With how ridiculously toxic the community has become that it's hard to avoid complete d-bags trying to pick a real fight or argument, I'm not surprised. But this is way, waay too late to try and reel it back after they've basically curated a community like that for years who are all about finding the cheapest ways to get under eachothers skin by all means necessary. Once you get focused by one of those "I'll never stop coming for you and bothering you in any way I can"-kinds, it's best to just hop the session and carry on doing your thing tbh. Either way, no concern to me, I've always made sure every fight I've been in has been in good terms and if someone gets actually annoyed, I immediately leave em alone. I play to have fun and encourage others to do the same. The last time I played, I got a "F U" message from someone I didn't even have any interaction with lol. Was a good reminder of why I hadn't played before that in a long while: since everything about the game becomes some childish p!ss!ng contest and I genuinely don't get what anyone gets from it. In other words, realized it's just not for me :) I wish spawn killing etc. trying to be as annoying as possible _wasn't_ part of the game, but I fully agree this is too little, too late and pointless at this point, since all the active players have grown to accept everything in it as business as usual, including it being a griefers paradise. Edit: Oh and I *do not* count just someone attacking me randomly for no reason as griefing, or even if someone tries to stop me from making a sale. I'm not that sensitive, luckily. But the amount of time I get some complete stranger fixated on only me for no reason (other than me successfully defending myself) to try and get to me is something I've lost count on + the attempts at sending insults via the phone or even pm's etc. weirdness AND to top it off, DDoS attacks. Edit2: Oh and this kind of an update in their policies makes me just worried about HOW they will even try to control it in a way that it'd go to the right address and won't get random people banned for very petty things. After all, if there's someone who reports people very often, it's often the griefers (or sore losers).. So despite not being into griefing in any way, I still don't see this as a good change. I don't trust whatever automated system they'll put in place in the slightest.

One reason why I love videogames more than other games is that they can be endlessly optimized and changed, so anything that's possible in the game without tampering with the files is fine in my book. Glitches are a gray area, but in my opinion the developer should bite the bullet, fix the glitch and accept the damage done - we know Rockstar doesn't agree with that sentiment, but banning players for playing the game is a whole new level of crazy.

I hate griefing, with a burning passion. Grief-banning is still stupid, especially in GTAO. Even a suspension is a stupid consequence to something like “spawn killing”, which in GTA just means being good at the game. If they want to counter that they should just enhance the random post-kill spawn range so players don’t show up 20 feet from their opponent in the open. Stream-sniping will always be a thing, as will the prerequisite immaturity. As for driving backwards, ghosting the car fixes that. And as mentioned, if they want to stop griefing, they should first stop encouraging griefing with the OC, Mk2, occasional Savage or Akula, or even just the mission disruption prompts and live cargo and player trackers. Lot of things they could do to fix their problem, but you don’t hunt the beast you trained.

What is that take? Players using insane overpowered weapons to spawn-kill you makes online entirely unplayable. Why would anyone want to accept that as “just part of the game?” Obviously cheaters should be punished, as they are in every game, but there’s a difference between competitive play and toxicity. Although, I do agree that Rockstar seems to be doing a full 180 considering they promote griefing other players for rewards.

It’s well said in the video, unless cheats, glitches and hacks are used it’s all fair play if you wanna go after players. They give us invite only lobbies to do jobs and make money so it’s easy enough. Free roam has risk and we know this as players going in.
What constitutes “griefing”? Who gets to say? How will R* know unless someone reports it? And, what if someone makes a false report? This set of policies is incredibly flawed, to the extent that R* will either be heavy handed in its pursuit of those reported, or, do nothing at all.

I think the key in the griefing section is using the game in unintended ways. Orbital cannon and attacking each other's businesses is clearly intended.
Griefing is annoying players for no reason or award but when destroying rival player shipment u get money even it was 2k and for orbital cannon it can be used for pvp not griefing and u spend 500k/700k to kill player
They can get rid of duplicated accounts but can’t get rid of barcode players and crews who openly admit and advertise griefing as well as the ridiculous K/D warriors. But driving in the wrong direction will get you banned 🤦♂️

I don’t buy this personally, because they literally encourage griefing. They added all of these futuristic and weaponized vehicles with homing missiles. They have the orbital cannon, which is a literal griefing tool and does nothing else. And lastly, they literally broadcast to the entire lobby that we’re selling cargo and encourage people to come blow it up for a measly $2,000 and some RP. They even show people exactly where you are on the map. Remember this is all part of their devious plan to get people to buy shark cards. Ohh and not to mention the amount of idiots who abuse the God Mode glitch and don’t get punished for doing so. This game just has a cancerous community, to the point where people will even DDOS you and knock out your internet, which is a criminal offense might I add. So overall, I’m not convinced.
To be honest getting spawn killed and when people purposely drive the wrong way just to fuck you over because they're a sore loser were the biggest kill for me and why I even barely play gta online. Those are just the 2 most annoying things I have dealt with
This is just to make their company look more investable. By having a friendlier face it makes them more appealing. If they really cared they would remove and change many things in gta. Even though the point of freemode is to just blow stuff up. If they changed the way the report system works to where you can be banned now after a few reports then people are just going to report people they don’t like to get them banned.
I wouldn’t say it’s entirely true that GTA never cared about being a “good citizen” online. I mean you get rewarded with 2k for being a good sport and anytime you blow up somebody’s car, they make it a point to call you a bad sport and have you cover the cost of damages. Then they changed the way KD works in an effort to take away the incentive for griefers to grief. I mean it makes sense really why they’d start to be big on it. Nobody wants to play an aging game where you get killed every 10 seconds by a 12 year old. It’s bad for business🤷🏼♀️
There are some people out there that just make the game worse and I'd rather them not have access to it. People that get too emotional, happens all the time, I call them impotent ragers. Some people just try to annoy other people, not playing the game or even fighting them just trying to get them stuck or making loud noises/blinding them for no reason. Goodbye to all that. If you can only thing of a time when someone used a game feature against you as griefing then you haven't actually played the game enough. Some people just take it way too far and really don't deserve life.

I'm actually OK with this. It's a little bit too late now though. I actively avoid public sessions as too many people grief you for just minding your own business. If you're in the middle of a mission then fair enough, but not if I'm just travelling from A to B
I think its really odd that they added this. If your a player and your tired of constantly being killed then you can just go to a private server. Thats what I do so that I can make money without having to worry about players killing me.
The whole point of GTA Online is to have fun, so no matter what you do someone will fuck you up and that is what makes everything fun. Really rockstar?

Rockstar should just make more safety features for people online that don’t want to be griefed or killed by a certain player because grand theft auto online as a whole is a game about killing one another the game just got out of control when they started adding more dangerous stuff in game money could buy
Ironically griefing sales missions is still fair game as long as the griefer doesn’t follow up breaking the actual rules 😂
I disagree that spawn killing is part of the game. Its definitely griefing. Business battles etc are part of the game, so that isnt griefing. The GTA community has been toxic since day one, and i stayed off for years because it had gotten so bad the game was unplayable. Only in the past few years have i gotten back into it because R* expanded what you could do in a private session.
Griefer targeters are probably more likely to be banned than actual griefers.
i basically play solo all the time, on pc it is basically mandatory to avoid modders, griefers and tryhards, so i cant see that message ever i do miss races, but im a grinder mostly, so
They're still doing a sh!tty job at tackling modders on PC though. One popped all my tires in a transform race, I carried on until the next transform checkpoint, but then he stopped my vehicle from moving altogether.

So they won’t ban someone for hacking to the point where 80% of public sessions are unplayable and accounts are being corrupted, but if I fend off a griefer from attacking my cargo, I get banned???? What. The. Fuck…
It's about money. It seems greifers are more likely to buy shark cards early on, but alot of them just go with modded accounts. So R* is making more money off of non-greifers. However, if greifed enough, non-greifers leave the game and therefore don't spend money. So the idea is to crack down on greifers, appease the non-greifers, and they'll make more money. In theory. GTA5 is on it's way out, so they're testing it there before going to GTA6 Online.
