Those homemade stuffed bagels remind me of the homemade ice cream cakes parents make for their child’s birthday. They get the job done but appearance-wise, they look lopsided, uneven and janky.
Out of curiosity, taste wise, how would this be any different from toasting a bagel in a toaster oven /toaster and then spreading cream cheese &/or garlic butter on it afterwards? Aside from the cheese being melted and it looking aesthetically more presentable when serving them to guests for a brunch, etc., I can't think of how they'd be different. If they taste almost identical then wouldn't it be simpler to not dirty a piping bag, baking sheet, waste parchment paper, and preheat oven for a couple bagels in the morning, etc. I grew up only using larger ovens for bigger feasts. My grandma would probably say I'm wasting electricity if I use it for a couple of bagels. 😅
It wouldn't be that different. These probably have a richer flavor, because they are soaked in the garlic butter, not just glazed. And the texture should be crunchier. The restaurant finishes theirs with a sweet glaze too.
They look so good
Try Saint Louis style sliced bagels next!
