@@avahenson4565 All of it, just as long as it's interesting and plausible.
It would be very drawn out and boring, most likely. Court trials can take months to years if the defendant waves their right to a speedy trial (which is logical if the defense needs more time to gather evidence.) In order to make it entertaining and even bearable for the average viewer, they’d have to cut a lot of procedures out of the script

Okay, but surely there's a way to conjure up a court case that's interesting enough for TV, right? And of course you would cut out all the boring parts that aren't strictly necessary and compress the events into whatever length is appropriate. They apparently just walked outside and rolled in a random boulder to play the defense lawyer.
10:30 Devin, they never even picked up the ball!
Now I want to see a video of an improper court trial except all the characters speak exclusively with this kind of honesty that lampshades all the stuff that's wrong about the trial. Kinda like the movie "Liar Liar" except they're all under the curse and also incompetent at their jobs.
I unironically bet the basic scenario you laid out _has_ played out in the south many times. Not for incompetence, but for racism.
@@ashkebora7262 I listen to the Generation Why podcast and I swear just about every wrongful conviction or question guilty verdict basically we ignore all evidence if you’re in X, Y, Z group.
Plot twist: the judge is not actually racist and just thinks everyone is a criminal
Watching Devin lose it over the bench trial is giving me life; I would be spluttering and waving my hands and saying “there’s a jury” the exact same way 😂❤
The DA basically just yells "he's wearing an orange jumpsuit, that'd criminal clothes"
i was expecting that. it's like the witch in holy grail.
“Just look at what he’s wearing! He’s practically BEGGING to be called a criminal!”
"I have his credit card statements" THEN WHY THE HELL DIDN'T HIS LAWYER I absolutely screamed. What a dipsh*t indeed, good lord.
I think the WORST thing about the original was the damn audio quality at the very end.. Oh my god. How much does this mean make and it sounds like he's yelling into a cell phone mic from inside a wind tunnel

Dhar Mann wasn't paying his actors, could be an interesting legal review.
It never too late to do the right thing Except when it literally is too late, he was convicted, you can’t just undo a conviction
Well, yeah you can but it requires a lot of paperwork
You can undo it, yes. But you can't *just* undo it.
Actually it would be easy to take this to the court of appeals, since this trail had no evidence and no jury. It would be trivial to declare a mistrial
It probably is. I just wanted to sound dramatic.
if the brady violations are egregious enough it would actually happen extremely fast

This being somewhat of the 100th video I have watched of you, I can say, boy am I glad, this wasn't one of the first ones. Sort of knowing your demeanour when reacting to TV laywer stuff, you freaking out here is SOO much better 🤣🤣🤣 Greetings from germany
I like when the defendant declares he's innocent and his own lawyer rolls his eyes.
I just realised this 😭. yes! get yourself a lawyer who will roll their eyes when you declare your innocence.
@@Shant3ll998 if you are poor you generally get the over worked and under qualified defense lawyer
"Everyone in here is innocent." --The defense lawyer, probably
@@calvinmcneil9824 But not this bad. There is not a single instance in this dimension or all parallel ones, where someone so incompetent would pass the bar. I agree that the US justice system is racially biased and blacks are on the receiving end, but come on. This video takes it up to the extremes. This is what a 3 year old thinks court is. And the "moral of the story" is the most trite BS I've seen in at least 20 years. I'm actually angry knowing the original video exists and someone was idiotic enough to make it.
every defendant claims they are innocent. 99.99% of the time they're lying. Most defense attorneys do their job not by proving innocence, but by showing the prosecution failed to meet their heavy burden.
"Do you have any proof?" "No" me, an Intellectual : what about your dodgers game ticket in LA???
I think they take the ticket for you to get in.

Yes, i too watched the video and heard legal eagle say this
A wise man once said: Nobody's life was changed, we aren't changing lives, were making entertaining videos.
And even that’s debatable when it ends the same ways every time
5:16 Just saying to myself "who are you, Von Karma?" And then that Phoenix Wright clip came up, omg 😂
"No one is changing lives here." - Disagree. My life was changed. I've decided to never watch a Dhar Mann video ever again... not that I was watching them or even heard of them before... but life changed.
They're always over the top but yeah this one was cringy AF, I think I paused Devin more than he paused the original video to go and scream.
Right? The real racism is in this videos writing/casting. Why would every person of color in this video be so blatantly ignorant. Not a single one was like "here's the cell phone and CC bills". But a white assistant DA comes in as their savior. The only way to excuse this video is to claim it's a parody of the white savior trope used all to often in the legal drama shows.
You're not missing anything. They are almost overtly preachy with little subtlety or nuances, and you'll see the ending from a mile away.
I wish I didn't know who this was my life is worse now
@@AirQuotes See? Life changed!

They are all over Facebook as well. All the scripts are super unrealistic, they're basically just fairytales for grownups. Simplified morality tales and stereotyped characters. I have seen a few here and there when I was scrolling around.
I watch his videos but in a so bad is good kinda way. He have no idea how people in real life behave. You know what's funny? He made more court episodes who are equaly unrealistic (I'm not a lawer myself)
Watching Devon just absolutely lose his mind over the course of this video is just so incredibly entertaining. And you know it says something when he says THIS is the most unrealistic legal proceeding he’s ever seen. And this man has watched Bee Movie! This is less realistic than Bee Movie!

How does Dhar Mann and co. not feel anything putting out something so inaccurate? I write short stories and for the best accuracy possible, I do as much research as I can. But a lot of the time, the stories may still not be fully accurate and it bothers me so much (maybe because I'm a perfectionist). I don't know how they can settle for intentionally not putting out accurate content. Madness.
I completely freaking feel that. I do the same thing and feel the same way, and I don't even plan to publish most of the short stories I write. Mind you, I enjoy researching weird shit like "are there any ruined temples to Asclepius in Rome?" (there is, but the only intact remnants are built into someone's house, IIRC) or "what happened to the Navy dry docks from WWII in Savannah, Georgia after they were shut down?" (I'm pretty sure at least one set is now the foundation for a waste management plant). It's fun. But not being able to nail certain things down can definitely bug me.
