My boyfriend has a Mosin and it is a beautiful gun. One of the awesome things about it is that almost every piece of the gun has factory marks that tell you where and when that piece was made, if it was a replacement, who used it, and if it was a training weapon or saw service. I spent about an hour on a collector’s info paper while he and his stepdad were cleaning it and going through the pieces and I discovered his is pre-Soviet union but post WW1 with a replacement bolt (and I think stock because it was missing some marks as well as another replacement of a piece I can’t remember) that saw probably saw some service via imperial cavalry and was made in the Izhevsk factory. Before that I didn’t know that the guns themselves could tell you so much about themselves

My favorite thing about the sniper mosin is the bent bolt. When marksman at the time were asking for a scope they put one on top, but then the bolt handle would crash into the scope when trying to chamber new round. So what'd they do? "Ehhh. Just give'r a big ole bend! That'll do."

That's the smoothest action I've ever seen on a mosin.
my mosin stays pretty smooth as long as i keep the head space for the bolt clear of carbon. i think alot of these sticky mosin problems come from people just not cleaning them properly but thats just my personal experience.
Every mosin I've shot and owned is smooth like silk, I feel like the mythos of sticky mosin comes from people picking up guns in stores caked in cosmoline
A well made one is like that. The issue has been a combination of loose wartime quality control, frankenguns, and poor cleaning. My 1942 Izhevsk is somewhat harsh but my 1953 Circle 11 is silky smooth. I intend to have the Izhevsk tinkered on.
@@MrGochira that is normally 100% the case however i did have one that had a replacement bolt and just didn't fit quite right once....a little time and grinding with a stone and i had it running flawlessly.

@@carpeomnia2011 i was thinking exactly this! If you aim at the bullseye and it shoots down and right, then you would adjust up and left!

Either this dude can’t shoot, or there’s something SERIOUSLY WRONG with the optic or the barrel.
