  • 28:46 Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else in the comments, but NV does have a quick-select "wheel". It's just the part with binding weapons and items that's a bit... hidden. Hover over the item you'd like to quick-select, hold the number you want it bound to and click the item in the inventory. It really helps keep the flow of the action during fights

  • I played Skyrim and fall out 4, years ago as a young kid/man. Over the last few months I felt very bored. Work, gym, wife, kids, repeat. I missed gaming, I almost forgot I used to play and enjoy video games since life kind of took me as a prisoner. I bought the series x last week and searched the Microsoft store. My wife made fun of me saying “I didn’t know you liked video games omg”. I told her I wanted something to just relax to…I was gonna just download fallout 4 again and replay it but I saw New Vegas for $7. I was skeptical at first since it seemed so old but man.. this game has captured me. It gave me that feeling Skyrim did all those years ago. I think about it at work, I wanna play when I’m out shopping, I look forward to Friday so I can stay up until 3 am playing. New Vegas made me love gaming again and it’s made me remember apart of my that I forgot.

Still nowhere near what you can achieve with a few mods though so I don't give Bethesda much credit for that considering literally everything else was a downgrade. • One small detail I like about the intro video (before the narration) is that it presents all the factions. We start at the Lucky 38 (Mr. House's home and central location in the game). The we see some NCR troopers in the Strip and then an NCR ranger next to McCarran. Then we see Legion soldiers. And finally we see Benny and the Khans (representing the independent route). It's an awesome intro that illustrates the central theme in the game. It's not the wasteland like in FO3, but the factions and people that inhabit it that matter.

In one of the dlc, you grt to read about a mans life - a dude that was there when the bombs dropped and his life afterward until his death at lile age 70-something. He mentions folks from vault 22 in there. Real great stuff. Even if it is through notes.

  • 49:09 Woah! You just glossed over the big enchilada!!! The big epic battle at the end is the best part! Literally the war reward experience! You head off and witness the choices and influences you picked play out in the final epic battle and you still shape the ending your own way. the allies you pick literally help you out or are absent because of your influence. In the ending you get everything thrown at you, especially if you choose to sabotage both in numerous ways. It's a real mission taking place with several paths and outcomes even at the end of the story. You get bombed, stabbed, chopped, gunned down, blasted, torched, zapped, you name it, it all happens just so you could get your big final satisfaction of perseverance!! Nothing feels better than getting your robots to finally slaughter your way through or go the lone route and trick everyone or just blast everything completely ruining everything for everyone. Even your allies/companions will have something to say, even if they are dead!! lol they'll still give their opinion on what you did and how it affected their world. It's just the best to shape the end your way. You even get the big bad boss fight BUT you can also choose a cinematic deeper satisfying ending where you pose some serious logical questions that make your opponent think and reconsider everything in an instant. Very reminiscent of a tv drama where the protagonist can finally let go of revenge and in my opinion sometimes much more fulfilling. And if that wasn't enough for you then you can also do the same against their opposition as well ultimately deciding the fate of both sides right up until the very end. It's up to you to choose whether to back stab them, fight it out to, or in the same fashion negotiate with reasoning your final decision on the outcome!! In reality the game's ending is the culmination of the entire experience from the beginning and all the way up till your last playthrough experience. It's like the encore of a show where everyone comes back just for the final taste and it's all just for you to enjoy and decide what to do with it. :) The ending battle is the best because it was completely focused and catered to you exclusively. It seems like it would be a bad idea to design it this way because challenge is the best reward and realistically endings aren't always good outcomes but this's the beauty in having the world still designed this way anyway because at the end of the day it's a fantasy first and you're not playing into the fantasy to come out with nothing. Even if you choose to end it that way you still had an impact and nothing is more satisfying than to have been integral to the story you wove and participated in. You could have been a footnote or you could have been the historical legend or new mysterious myth. Very few fantasies out there can give you this satisfaction. Usually they keep you locked to their story whether you like it or not but in this fantasy you can say no and see what happens next. This is an experience like no other and even the newest iterations and past achievements can't seem to topple or overshadow it. New Vegas is a freak phenomenon that had no business being as good as it is. It's not even a sequel and yet it had a better story and deeper impact. It wasn't anything really new yet it felt like a revolution in gaming. It's outdated and glitchy as hell and made in a rush giving you every reason to hate yet here we are years later still gushing over how awesome this experience is and just the fact that it's still not dead yet AND STILL being picked up and experienced all over again both by past owners and new owners alike. STILL!!! Play the game and play it for the final epic battle because you WON'T be disappointment!! ;)

Set 7 and click it whenever you are low on hp (but autostims exists) -You want to switch from 10mm pistol to SMG? Set 2 and press it in need of damage -Low on AP? Press 6 and enjoy that sweet sound of jet inhaling And if you double press button set to weapon, it will unequip the weapon, leaving you with bare fists.

  • When I was playing the NV for the first time, I've stumbled upon a quest about rescuing NCR soldiers from a mine. I went in, killed some legion boys, opened the cages and... the quest ended. This freaked me out, because it seemed too simple. So I reloaded and sneaked in to explore the mine before saving the soldiers. Found nothing. Then I put on some legion armor and tried speaking to the legion troops in the mine. Still nothing! This quest was driving me crazy, so I resorted to googling all the possible outcomes. And, surprise-surprise, I instantly found out that the alternative solutions were cut from the final release. And then it hit me. The rest of the game was so AWESOME, that a simple quest "Do exactly the thing you were asked to do and get rewarded" didn't fit in. To this day I've never experienced anything like that. New Vegas is still the best RPG ever made.

So I go to Nipton, with Boone, about to talk to Vulpes Inculta when suddenly I start gaining Infamy with the Legion and the Legion start shooting at me. I was then that I realized "oh....Boone wasn't kidding, noted"😅

  • There actually is a peaceful option between the NCR and the Brotherhood of Steel. It requires you to complete the Brotherhood questlines fully and keep McNamara as Elder. Once the NCR tells you to go wipe them out, tell McNamara about it and he'll tell you to tell the NCR that they want to assist in the Battle of Hoover Dam.

  • Personally I think House is the best choice because you end up as his right-hand man, with enough authority to change New Vegas however you see fit while still benefiting from having a governing body and House's restoration of the old world infrastructure. Basically it's the Yes Man ending, but with the most technologically advanced society in the wasteland as opposed to total chaos.

  • Fun fact: You *can* quick select your items, its just that nothing ever tells you! In the inventory hold a numerical key other than 2 and select an item and that key becomes a quick select key for the item! Why not 2? Because that's the hotkey to swap ammo type. Oh yeah, nothing tells you about that either.

  • I think my biggest gripe with newer BGS and Obsidian games, is the lack of depth in the character creation, attributes, stats, and the leveling system. They just keep simplifying that aspect, to where shit doesn't even feel like an RPG anymore. Like how are we getting less mechanics in that regard with every single entry. Like NV and Morrowind were not perfect games by any means, but the level of freedom to really create a distinct character, with no real single best choice, is just unparalleled in today's environment.

    • @@D00000T Well, I suppose it depends on how you look at it. I remember Old World Blues being pretty great for how it amps the "Science" aspect of the game up to a hundred, with some pretty good weaponry and, a personal favorite, plenty of nods to the Venture Brothers cartoon. Dead Money was another great spin on the "Heist" story type. With interesting characters, setting and how it was very survival focused. The base game certainly remains an outstanding piece of architecture on how to make an RPG, but the expansions certainly added quite a bit.

    • @@Micecheese I cannot recommend the DLCs for New Vegas more, they are amazing for the simple fact that they are so cohesively connected. Themes, characters, and storylines are super interconnected in each DLC whilst still being strong enough on their own to allow the player to play each in whatever order they desire and still get something unique out of each. Dead Moneys horror atmosphere, Honest Hearts exploration, Old World Blues technological zaniness, and The Divides brutal journey, each DLC is amazing. Trust me when I say these DLCs are more then worth doing. Quite honestly I personally consider them, as a package, the best DLC ever created.
