Hey friends, hope you have a nice weekend? 🐝🌸
Here is a new video of Mommy cat talking to her kittens. The little kittens meowing back is just the cutest thing ever! Mommy loves her little ones so much. There where people who didn't like the background music so we decided not to use music for this video. The only thing that's not that nice is the background noise. This is Bella her first litter and the video is filmed in 2018.

  • Truly remarkable footage... you can visibly see the mother quiet her fussy baby in the little exchange at 2:03. Watch it in slow motion. The kitten cries, the mother perks up and emits an answer to the cry while fixating her eyes on that single distressed, crying kitten. The kitten cries twice more, and the mother answers in a "had enough" tone but hoists her neck up and gives a miniature version of a lion's roar at the end. The kitten slowly turns to face her mother with a bowed head, and emits a small little cry of defeat, however accompanied with acceptance of the situation. This is largely due to her mother's tough love lazer-like stare to reassure her baby that she only wants what's best for her. I only speak English... but with my mind opened I could see this entire conversation unfold in real time between the two in their own language. Such a beautiful video.

  • Fun Fact: Meowing is not part of natural cat language-it was developed almost exclusively for humans. The only meowing in cat language is done between a mother cat and her kittens. The meows and mews are what get you to do what she wants. So the meowing develops into a second language to communicate to you.

    • Meowing is a kitten behavior that persists into adulthood due to domestication. Their wild cousins (actual wildcats, not feral domesticated cats) do not meow when they're adults unless it's to communicate with kittens - and even then, it's less of a meow and more of an "oi! I'm here. Calm down before the predators find you!" It's believed that the *reason* meowing into adulthood became a domesticated cat behavior was because they needed the ability to communicate with humans. This doesn't mean they don't use it to communicate with other cats as well. Although different cats are more vocal than others. Willow rarely meowed until we got Sarah. Sarah is an extremely vocal cat - the most vocal I've ever seen. Now Willow is picking up her behavior a bit, but she is still pretty quiet. Willow rarely meows at us unless she's demanding something (food/attention). Honestly, she meows more to Sarah than either of us. Sarah, on the other hand, will meow in a manner that basically seems to mean "I'm here!" House cats are also much more social than wildcats are. The very much do enjoy being around others and even when they're ferals/strays/etc they still form core social groups that they regularly stay close to. If your cat goes outside regularly, they likely have formed a social group with other outdoor cats in the area. Ppl tend to think of cats as loners because cats hunt alone, unlike humans and dogs which tend to hunt in packs/groups. But that has to do with the different domestication processes. When it came to dogs, we wanted to change their hunting behaviors - we wanted them to hunt with us and largely to only hunt when we wanted them to hunt. We made dogs largely dependent on us, much like every other animal we've domesticated. That doesn't mean they can't survive in the wild (feral), but we had a fundamentally different approach to domesticating dogs than cats. Cats became domesticated because they needed shelter/safety when they *weren't* hunting, which humans were only too happy to provide specifically because of cats hunting pests like mice and rats. So their social behaviors when *not* hunting increased as they essentially domesticated themselves, meanwhile, their hunting behaviors remained relatively unchanged - which was how we wanted it ofc. We didn't want them to stop hunting the animals eating our grain, after all. In fact, we wanted to encourage them to hunt as much as they wanted and we didn't want to have to supervise them. All we wanted to do was control their range - to stay close to where we were and specifically close to our fields, homes, and storage facilities. Unlike just about every other animal species we've domesticated - we didn't restrict their roaming so much as provide incentive to not wander too far away. And that ofc goes back to the fact that we never set out to deliberately domesticate house cats, unlike every other species that humans have domesticated - which is why house cats occupy a special place among domesticated species. Edit: I didn't mean to imply that wildcats don't have their own social groups. They do. They are just *less* social than house cats. And ofc, there's many different species of wildcats across the world. While a couple can interbreed with housecats, they are *not* house cats. House cats are their own distinct species, much like dogs are. Edit2: I went back and clarified what I meant by the differences between cat/dog domestication. I'm going to stop now while it's essay-sized cuz oh my gods, domestication is such a huge and fascinating topic!

    • I'd have lost my sanity long ago, if not for the pleasant company of my two house panthers. They were littermates at a nearby feral colony. One hides most of the time, even after nearly three years here... but her much smaller sister seeks me out when she wants to be petted and fussed over. Lil' sister has an unusually tiny voice to match her physical size, and I feel that all is right with the world when she "talks" to me. Big sister sends the "lil' squirt" to fetch me when it's meal time, and they both lead me to their food dishes; that's about the only absolute item in my daily routine, so they keep me on my toes! 8-)

  • Bengals are the best breed of cat! I've had cats my whole life. I rescued a Bengal kitten 10 years ago. Which is INSANE because you never see them in shelters because they are crazy expensive. I love all of my cats but my Bengal had my heart completely. We lost him about a month ago. We spent $9k trying to save him, KNOWING it was only a 50/50 chance it would work. I'll be paying those credit card bills for the next year, at least. But he was the love of our lives. I would highly recommend a bengal to anyone. They are an AMAZING, loving, and super intelligent breed. I want to grab one of those kittens out of my phone and cuddle it! It's a bummer, I won't be able to afford another Bengal and the odds of me finding another shelter Bengal is probably about as likely as me winning the lottery.

    @stepford702@stepford7024 жыл бұрын
    • Sarah Duropan , wow! You were so incredibly lucky to find one in a shelter. That is virtually unheard of! Whoever handed that kitten in obviously didn’t realise that they could have sold it for a decent amount! I don’t actually know how much they go for, but having cats myself, all my life, I know that specific breeds can go for thousands of dollars, depending on the breed and what country you live in. I hope you find your miracle kitten again in the not too distant future. It always makes my heart happy to know that any pet, but especially kittens and cats as they have my heart, go to safe and loving forever homes. And you are clearly a feline lover, like myself. They are such special furry little ones. Every time I watch videos of this beautiful mama and her babies it makes my heart swell and I get the urge to start looking for one! They are such a beautiful breed. But I have 2 cats right now and I don’t think either of them would forgive me if I got another one! As it is, they don’t exactly like each other! But I love them both as if they were my own babies. And one of them has a newly diagnosed cardiac condition that I have been told will dramatically shorten his lifespan, unfortunately. He has just turned 4 and I have been told that he may have 3-5 years, if he is lucky. It makes me sad, but all I can do for now, is give him the best life possible for as long as he is with me. I already spent $15k on him last year for 2 surgeries, one week apart, when he got a blockage in his stomach from fur balls! Yikes! Thank goodness for pet insurance!

    • @Christsservant 83 You're pretty lucky too. I was looking for a Bengal, and the one's ive seen under $1,000 have been scams. Although there is one breeder I've found that sells then for $800 regardless of gender or patterns. But her litter is already sold. I might get one from her next year. You are so right though! There's just something about Bengals that make them extra special. I did end up adopting 2 kittens since this post. They are sweet, and adorable, and I love them. But I have to admit, they are missing that "thing" my Menchie had. BUT they are still kittens. They haven't grown out of the murder everything that moves age yet. They will eventually calm down...I hope! I love your cat's name, btw. Mojo is a perfect name for a bengal! It sums their personalities to a T!

      @stepford702@stepford7024 жыл бұрын
    • @@leannepaxton5012 @Leanne Paxton I was incredibly lucky! I still kick myself for not getting one of his litter mates when I got him. Initially, we thought they were just tabbies with beautiful markings. But as he got bigger and prettier, we knew he had to be at least half Bengal. A few years ago, we got a DNA test and he was in fact 100% Bengal. I will definitely get another bengal one of these days. But I want to get one from a good breeder. Not from a breeder who forces the mother to have litter after litter. But I have rescued a brother and sister since I posted this. A sweet grey one and a calico. And I am so sorry to hear about your sweet baby. It's so hard to lose them. But maybe they come up with a treatment for your kitties condition. I hope so. Give him some cuddles from me. And love him as much as you can for as long as you are together! But I know you're already doing that!
