On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Day 20 of asking for F-18 close air support. GS you pick the variant
Would love to see an Su-25 vs Me-262 battle - the best jet fighter of WWII vs a dog of an air to air jet in the 21st century.
I would love to see you fly the MiG-31. First in BVR, but also a dogfight against something equally poor at turning would be interesting. Maybe a dogfight between an F-15E and the MiG-31? Or If the F-15E is still too much better, maybe weigh it down with some sort of load or payload?
Could you do 20 raptors vs entire chinese airforce
To be fair, wouldn't the outcome here be incredibly similar were this a wall of f18s or something?
The fact the entire NK air force was able to get off the ground and flying on the correct heading is a minor miracle. I applaud you.

I wonder how many of their fleet are actually operable. And don't their pilots only get like an hour a month behind the stick on average? They're so low-hour that they barely know how to fly their aircraft WITHOUT someone trying to kill them. The US could just about go back to using Sabres and still waste the North Koreans because the pilot skill gap is like putting the Arizona Diamondbacks up against a little league team. And not a good little league team, either.

I wonder what it’s like being the pilot of some North Korean MiG-15. How in any world can they possibly think they’d stand a chance in a modern combat environment ?
I highly doubt they use their mig 15s as anything other than training aircraft since they have access to mig 29s and stuff
I think they don’t really know. Most are flying mig-29 by now. But I’ve seen docs where the nk people were watching smuggled South Korean dramas, and they thought it was a sci-fi due to the technology in the show (cell phones trains etc)
@@tumsfestival8027 nah there are cell phones in north korea, most people dont have them but just because i dont own a yacht doesnt mean i dont know what it is lol

Sounds like the first F15 engagement in Syria.
@@pegcity4eva yeah, a similar thing happened in ww2 when Germany tried to resupply North Africa by air. A bunch of slow unarmed cargo planes turned into a turkey shoot.
Well, they only have 2 more long range and 2 short range missiles left after that initial barrage as far as I know. I was not able to keep track of how many were fired by the narrator.
I thought there was linking software between the Raptors that kept them from aiming the same target. That would have been very helpful in this situation.
Not in the F-22. The F-35 has that connectivity though.
@@DuvalDashCams, My understanding is that the F-22 does have that capability through it's stealthy Intra Flight Data Link, but only with other F-22s. The F-35 has an expanded capability to datalink with other aircraft.
I believe that is part of an upgrade being implemented in what Raptors are not being decommissioned. The F35 has it, the Raptor is 25 years old already and most hadn't been upgraded yet. The DCS model is based on the OG Raptor.
If this is known capability of the Raptors firing solutions. Would it have been best to fire in a staggered way in wider formation?
as somewhat of a n00b to this scene whose interest far outweighs his knowledge, could I ask a question? How is it that the Raptor wasn't being used in the 90s then? "The Ghost of Pyongyang" lol
It would be a cool idea to do a similar mission, but do 1 F-22 against a bunch of player-controlled NK aircraft. It may give a better idea as to 1) how effective a single F-22 can be against a larger force, and 2) how a pilot or team on the NK side might try to defeat an F-22. Very cool video nonetheless!
If I were one of the players controlling an NK aircraft, my first thought on noting Raptors approaching would be, "OK, where's the 'Defect to South Korea' button?"
Just go lo and fly along the deck, according to Top Gun terrain confuses the radar on a 5th Gen Fighter... -_-
I don't know any off the top of my head but i bet theres a number of pack tactics you might be able to employ to bait the f-22 into a position for a kill from another aircraft. But I guess that also depends on how many NK aircraft there were
I'm so relieved you got those enemies near the end of the engagement. The greatest risk in this mission could very well have been your not getting any air kills and then having to live it down back at base.

I love how the tac view shows the Raptors behaved like actual birds of prey in how they fought. Especially twisting around diving on the migs that went low.
Co-ordinated targeting in large formations of aircraft (aggressors and defenders) is extremely difficult in such fast moving scenarios as can be seen from the Tac-view. Quite a few missiles flew through the MiG-9 formation and 1 MiG became a missile magnet. This might become critical if larger formations are encountered and they employ more thoughtful tactics, ie, multi-heights, multi-directions and staggered waves aswel as jamming and walls of chaff.
which is exactly why networked computing and radar integration is such a big deal on F-35, those thing would all link together and dedicate one weapon to each target in the innitial volley
Those older MIGs were MIG-17 Frescoes, North Korea never had the MIG-9 Fargo. The Fargo only served in the Soviet Air Force, and was one of their Gen-1 jet fighters.

I think out of all the camera angles you've used, G/S, in all the videos you've done over the years, nothing matches that volley of AMRAAMS from all those Raptors in the contrails. That was a siight to see.
I can't imagine being a pilot like that in a live formation and seeing them all leave at once. I understand they are focused on their job and worried about counter-fire but for a second they have to go, "Damn that is incredible looking."
How about F-22 against that same North Korean Air force? I need to see how you hold up against impossible odds. Using missles, guns, middle fingers, etc I so love the Raptor. Unbelievable that they want to phase these out of commission. Thanks for the videos.
If the F-22 has enough time, an airbase to refuel and reload missiles, and enough Patriot sites and other air defenses to defend that base so it can't be taken out on the ground, then it's not impossible odds. In fact I'd say it would be quite easy. Just take off, climb to 60.000 ft, fly towards North Korean planes, launch 6 AMRAAMs at 15 miles where your AMRAAM can't miss them but also they can't lock you yet, turn around, speed away back to base at 60.000 ft, land, refuel and reload, repeat. Nothing they can put into the air should be able to do anything about it. If they choose to remain on the ground, well, the F-22 can carry precision guided bombs too.
Or two morons in f22s. (Seriously, need more two morons content)
The only reason they'd think about getting rid of the F-22 is that there is a cheaper, better alternative. Just wait until the Defense Department decides we need a 6th or 7th gen air to air missile to match the NGAD's level of scary.
That gen is still super far away. The AIM260 isnt even finished yet.@@lexwaldez
Because, as you saw, the data-link on the F-22 isn't able to talk to other F-22s to tell them that they're engaging X target and not to stack missiles on that target. And the airframe itself has flaws. Next Generation Air Dominance platform is basically the F-22 without the vertical stabilizers (thus further reduction to RCS), is built with future-proofing in mind (eg. the avionics and software don't need to be completely reworked in order to install new stuff, which has been the primary issue with upgrading the F-22 thus far), and including a pilot is optional, meaning maneuvering is no longer restricted to 'what the bag of flesh and blood in the cockpit can remain conscious through/survive'.

That set of simultaneous launches at 3:19 was hot.
reminder that the performance we see here is the officially declassified performance of the raptor, not the classified true top performance.
I saw a two-ship of Raptors at the Honolulu airport in 2016 while we were taxiing. They were beautiful. How many passnegers knew they were next to the deadliest aircraft in the world and one of the most advanced weapons ever made by man?
It would be terrifying for any other country to find out a squadron of 10 raptors operating in their airspace.
The double-tap kills are particularly brutal. Also pretty sure none of the Mig-17 pilots survived.
You know you've seriously fucked up when 10 F-22 are sent to intercept your entire airforce
F-22: "Would you intercept me? I'd intercept me."
After that first volley, all the Mig 29's were dead and to see the Raptors swing back on the older Mig group was really amazing in that Tact view.
When one plane can get a solid target lock over the horizon via satellite while the others can't get a radar lock while looking right at them, its hard to call it a battle. Its basically just target practice at this point.
Good old tact view, nothing beat that =)
And the crazy part is that you could have three raptors lock onto each target independently and relay that info to a wall of B1 and B2 way back out of range and they can take out those targets. The F22s won’t ever need to fire a shot.
"Screw that guy in particular." Had me rollin'. Great commentary 🤣

The deep instrument made this feel like a movie, with aircraft exploding all of a sudden, with the only warning being the trail of a missile approaching them. Little if not no signature on radar to have them prepare, only the sight of smoke coming from the missile. (and their friends exploding)
One scary thing is, this wouldn't be the HALF of it. We'd have F-35s already in their airspace, designating targets for not only the Raptors, but for our "missile boats," F-15s and even B-52s, who would be hitting from over 100 miles away with MASSIVE loadouts of long range death. The Raptors wouldn't have much left to do, other than pick the bones. Meanwhile, the NKs wouldn't know it was coming until they all suddenly started falling out of the sky. Current air combat doctrine is some scary sh*t...for our enemies.
To be fair, that is the size and strength of a lot of countries airforces, they just dont talk about it as much.
