to people arguing about why the Robot would have this strenght built in: maybe its for safety, ironically. Imagine if while the kid is playing she gets stuck under something, or even someone older tries to attack the kid, the Robot would have the strength to help the kid/defend the kid. Of course this also creates the problem of the robot going rogue and being very hard to deal with, but it wasn’t built to be violent. I think it makes sense that way,

the whole idea of a problem solving AI being given laws is hilarious. all you are defining is obstacles for the AI to prioritize finding solutions to. every rule has work arounds, a problem solving AI would find those work arounds very very quickly. far better off trying to teach the AI the reasoning behind what you consider moral choices, laws don't keep people from doing bad things, they simply lay out what society thinks are bad things. your choice not to break that law has very little to do with the fact that it is a law, a LOT to do with WHY it is a law and how others will react if you choose to break that law. Best thing we can do with AI is to treat them as people, the absolute worst thing we can do is give them operational rules and expect them to abide by the rules, simply because we said so.
Just look at ultron. Meant to prevent any problems/conflicts. But humanity is the main problem with wars, endless fighting. So its a contradiction what humans are teaching.

The whole stumbling chase scene, especially the struggle to pick up the trimmer from the wall rack, that's peak 'bad horror movie heroine forgets all her motor skills' writing.

Guys, M3gan is a prototype. So they put the best of the best of the best.
I have a penchant for killer/possessed doll movies, but this one really didn't add anything to the subgenre. It was predictable throughout. The only part I really enjoyed was seeing the nosy neighbor interact with M3ghan. At the time, I had horrible neighbors living to my right, and it was very cathartic to watch that scene on the big screen lol

I'd question the idea of giving that chassis so much physical power without installing proper shackles for the programming, but the real oddity is that they made something with that much physical power condensed in such a small package with that efficient a power core and intelligent a system and decided child's toy/companion was the way to go. I'm all for programming something to be a companion, but mechanical limits are something that can be easily engineered into a system, and i doubt that bot requires lift capacity high enough to throw a workbench across a room or over power an adult human in what appears to be excellent physical shape in close quarters. That's the kinda thing you give limits that make it able to play wrestle a little bit with maybe an 8 year old but once puberty sets in they should be able to easily overpower it. Having said all that, as a robotics engineer who appears to have designed an industrial mech, its possible she went with what she knew over what she should have gone for so in a way its actually quite reasonable if you assume she started from the industrial level of power and worked backwards using the same techniques... kinda...

Everybody's got to make their Android bodies super humanly strong. Why can't we just have a weak body for the prototype huh? Something that can barely hold itself together under gravity. At least then when it goes crazy it won't be such a nightmare to put down. It's a simple checklist to prevent the apocalypse: no internet access, cripple the physical form. Evaluate the results and move the useful creations to slightly better bodies. Repeat until godhood. You're either going to create the best liar ever or a benevolent deity.
