In our country, no one uses old shirts and sheets, but in vain. Two new remodel ideas

1) I suggest sewing a decorative pillowcase from a shirt for a pillow. One shirt will be enough for this product.
- For a pillow 40x40 cm, I cut out two squares 42x42 cm. The front part with buttons will go to the back of the pillowcase, there are buttons and loops and this makes the work much easier.
- From the remains of the shirt, I cut strips 6 cm wide for assembly.
These stripes will be the highlight of the pillow.
- My shirt is small, so there wasn’t enough fabric, I had to add stripes from another fabric, and it turned out even more beautiful.
- I sewed the strips together, and swept the sections with a zigzag. The ends of the strip were cut off at an angle.
- I folded and stitched one edge of the strip, and overlocked the other edge with an overlocker.
- Where the overcasting made a line four and gathered the strip into gathers.
- I found the middle on a straight square and started sewing the assembled part from there. At first I did it by hand to hide the stitching, and basted the rest of the ruffle in a spiral.
- Then I sewed it on the machine.
- I sewed two squares together and overcast them.
- The tender “marshmallow” pillow is ready.
If you have good quality shirts that are intact, but they are no longer relevant, feel free to cut them and sew new things.

2) An excellent way to recycle old sheets is patchwork or patchwork, which has many varieties.
Ornaments made from squares are very cute and beautiful. Products made using the “cathedral window” technique look wonderful. When I saw it for the first time, it was not clear how it was done. But in fact, everything is simple.
The work consists of squares of the same size. You can use fabrics of different colors. But it is better that the background be of the same shade, then the pattern in the form of petals will be clearly visible.
In order for everything to turn out smoothly and neatly, each square must be cut exactly to size. It’s good if you have a special knife with a wheel and a transparent ruler for patchwork.
I’ll show you the example of pillowcases.
How to sew:
- I cut out 10x10 cm squares. In the process of work, you will need triangles (a square folded diagonally and ironed).
- The first blank is made from three pieces. Two triangles are placed on the square.
- I sewed a stitch on all four sides to the width of the foot.
- A canvas is formed from these fragments. You can first sew them into stripes or into squares from 4 blanks, I have the first option. If everything is cut smoothly and precisely, there will be no problems with the connection.
- I also sewed the stripes together. It is necessary to ensure that the diagonals are arranged in zigzags, forming rhombuses.
- I placed colored squares 10x10 cm on top of the canvas in this way.
- Now the folded diagonal of the triangle needs to be folded onto a colored square and ironed well, bending it a little.
- In this way, each diagonal is ironed, resulting in petals.
- I fixed all the details with pins.
- You can stitch along the edge of the petal.
Ready.
In this method, all seams on the wrong side remain unfinished. When sewing a bedspread, this can be easily corrected by attaching the fabric to the wrong side.
