    • Agree. In fact, better than expected. She's no doubt talented, ranked 20s as a teenager. Then, lost her edge & her rank plummeted. Bencic was on good form & confident herself, aiming at coming back to top 10. This win is, in that sense, very significant. She may lead post-Serena America. Well done! Naomi will test her fitness, then if only if won, Barty! Tough draw indeed! Good luck

    • @@user-mk9hv8sl5p You are right about Osaka's serve and forehand. I can't and won't deny that. After all, when it's firing, her serve is the best - second only to Serena's. But, here is a Fun Fact: Against Bencic, Animisova hit 7 aces, winning 74% of her 1st serves and made 24 unforced errors. Osaka, against Brengle hit 8 aces, winning 78% of her first serves. Oh, and committed 32 unforced errors (that's just 'unforced' errors). So, if Animisova stay on the course, stay patient and continue to play with intensity, well ...... everyone is well aware how emotionally fragile Osaka can get - and let the racquet throwing begin. Revisit 2021 U.S. Open Round 3 (Osaka vs Fernandez). The End.

  • From the cloth to hat, to body outline, skin color, to the swing preparation both forehand & backhand, I cannot tell the different between these 2. I use racket to see who is who. It's like watching twins playing each other. The Pliskova twins come to mind, but that's left handed and right handed, so it's easy to tell, and Karolina is a bit slimmer.

  • This is the type of early matchup that shows this is not a very fast court. Bencic likes fast hard courts with lower bounces- like Tokyo lol. Anisimova plays with more topspin. It’s slightly slower and bounces higher. Bencic would hit a bit shot and Anisimova would have time to get it and hit a good shot back. They have really changed these courts for Djokovic/Nadal

  • Anisimova is on a collision course with Barty. Could be interesting, but I think Barty's superior movement and tennis IQ will win out. [edit]: Scratch that. She's up against Osaka. Unless she can really dig deep, that's probably as far as she'll go...

  • Congrats to Anisimova! Osaka should send her a 'Thank You' note for dispatching Bencic. . Stay on course, Anisimova, stay on course. Osaka doesn't move as well as Bencic, nor does she present a variety of shots - it's just 'bang bang' from the baseline. Osaka is a big woman with a lot of power. If Anisimova can absorb the power, she should be just fine in Round 3. GO ANISIMOVA, GO!

  • What is this thing that several of the women do where they put a knee down on the floor to hit forehands or backhands? Did some coach teach them that? It doesn't work. You are just lowering your contact point to hit the ball, which is not good tennis...

    @FinancialFreebo@FinancialFreebo2 жыл бұрын
    • A lot of coaches teach that. It keeps the same swing angle through the ball; it's consistency at the cost of a proper body turn and power. But you're right, some people don't do that. If a forehand can reach down and lift the ball, then so can a backhand.

      @dbeaton1111@dbeaton11112 жыл бұрын
    • @@dbeaton1111 but it means you are striking the ball at a lower contact point AND you then have to get up and get your momentum started again. If its anything of good form, why is it that ZERO men do it?

      @FinancialFreebo@FinancialFreebo2 жыл бұрын
    • Im pretty sure its to get more power or balance. The men don’t need to do it because they have a lot of power already, but it’s not like u see serena, naomi, or sabalenka do it often, compared to someone like kerber

  • It's going to be a close match in the next round. Osaka is on her best surface. She has a more powerful serve, and her groundies are up there with the best. If Osaka plays her A game, then she will be too much, but it might come down to who is mentally stronger. Anisimova has a chance.

    @dbeaton1111@dbeaton11112 жыл бұрын
    • " ... who is mentally stronger"? Is that a joke? Are you forgetting the meltdown Osaka had when trying to defend her U.S. Open title in 2021- Round 3, against Fernandez? Animisova most certainly have a chance, and it's wonderful to see her playing well again.
