I just had a moment where I was recovering my stuff from the nether after dying in a bastion, and only managed to recover a half durability gold sword I had found but wasn't using. Right then, I fell into a hole in the bastion, and was stuck in a 4x4ish hole with a piglin trying to kill me and I just spammed the sword- not even waiting for a full charged attack- to keep it away as was I dropped to like 2 hearts at that point. On the exact hit in which the sword broke, I managed to kill the piglin and save my bacon. It was a very similar feeling

OK, so I know that sand and snow are gravity blocks that fall when they are disturbed. I can see the principle here is that the endermen take a sand block and that causes a cascade which chases Alexa. But what would happen if you just had another sand block where the bell is? Wouldn't that still fall and continue the cascade? Or is it that an Enderman taking the block wouldn't trigger the cascade? Does that not count as a disturbance? Why do you need both the bell and sign? What would happen if you just had one or the other?

@@adrianthoroughgood1191 the way it works is that the bottom sand are on the ground. Those are the blocks the endermen pick up to start the cascade. The bells are attached to those sand blocks which hold a floating sand stair, and the signs are attached to the bells which hold another floating sand stair that holds the snow slab that acts as the step up without needing to jump. Both bells and signs need a supporting block or else they break. So what happens is the endermen take a ground sand block which breaks the bell and drops its sand which breaks the bell attached to the block that just dropped. At the same time the sign attached to the bell also breaks, dropping its sand block which continues the chain. Sand where the bell is wouldnt work because you can’t build the floating staircase like that because theres nothing to hold it up. You have to have both the bell and the sign because you can’t have a clean staircase without it being two sand blocks long, since you need a place for the snow to sit to make the half slab step

I don't think they can, considering it was surrounded on all sides by other blocks. The enderman are forced to take the exposed side blocks

@@Randomness823 They can pull blocks from the ground and ceiling as well, so they _could_ have grabbed the exposed sand in the middle, but they'd still need to then grab the now exposed snow-covered sand block for the middle path to collapse. If I'm doing my maths right, there's a roughly 10% chance they'd end up collapsing the middle first, and 67% they'd take either side first. Probability calculations can be weird, sometimes.

@@thatoneguy611 id understand if he spawned the endermen on the staircase itself, but the endermen spawned on the grass. youd need WAY more than 15 endermen for them to coincidentally walk up to the staircase, pick up a sand block within 30 seconds of spawning in (instead of picking a grass block), and repeat that already low chance another 2 more times.

I had my eye on it too. I was thinking he was gonna get to like, the last 20 blocks and have to resort to wiggle jumping.
I just had a moment where I was recovering my stuff from the nether after dying in a bastion, and only managed to recover a half durability gold sword I had found but wasn't using. Right then, I fell into a hole in the bastion, and was stuck in a 4x4ish hole with a piglin trying to kill me and I just spammed the sword- not even waiting for a full charged attack- to keep it away as was I dropped to like 2 hearts at that point. On the exact hit in which the sword broke, I managed to kill the piglin and save my bacon. It was a very similar feeling
@@cheekybum1513 it was a GOLD sword. Piglins are distracted and made neutral with gold. Just throw the damn thing at it.
At first I thought the Enderman were supposed to chase him and he would need to make it to the top before they got him, but once I heard blocks breaking I realized.

OK, so I know that sand and snow are gravity blocks that fall when they are disturbed. I can see the principle here is that the endermen take a sand block and that causes a cascade which chases Alexa. But what would happen if you just had another sand block where the bell is? Wouldn't that still fall and continue the cascade? Or is it that an Enderman taking the block wouldn't trigger the cascade? Does that not count as a disturbance? Why do you need both the bell and sign? What would happen if you just had one or the other?
@@adrianthoroughgood1191 the way it works is that the bottom sand are on the ground. Those are the blocks the endermen pick up to start the cascade. The bells are attached to those sand blocks which hold a floating sand stair, and the signs are attached to the bells which hold another floating sand stair that holds the snow slab that acts as the step up without needing to jump. Both bells and signs need a supporting block or else they break. So what happens is the endermen take a ground sand block which breaks the bell and drops its sand which breaks the bell attached to the block that just dropped. At the same time the sign attached to the bell also breaks, dropping its sand block which continues the chain. Sand where the bell is wouldnt work because you can’t build the floating staircase like that because theres nothing to hold it up. You have to have both the bell and the sign because you can’t have a clean staircase without it being two sand blocks long, since you need a place for the snow to sit to make the half slab step

I don't think they can, considering it was surrounded on all sides by other blocks. The enderman are forced to take the exposed side blocks
@@Randomness823 They can pull blocks from the ground and ceiling as well, so they _could_ have grabbed the exposed sand in the middle, but they'd still need to then grab the now exposed snow-covered sand block for the middle path to collapse. If I'm doing my maths right, there's a roughly 10% chance they'd end up collapsing the middle first, and 67% they'd take either side first. Probability calculations can be weird, sometimes.

@@thatoneguy611 id understand if he spawned the endermen on the staircase itself, but the endermen spawned on the grass. youd need WAY more than 15 endermen for them to coincidentally walk up to the staircase, pick up a sand block within 30 seconds of spawning in (instead of picking a grass block), and repeat that already low chance another 2 more times.
