Michelle Nicolini scored the biggest win of her mixed martial arts career at ONE: MASTERS OF DESTINY, getting one over on teammate-turned-rival Angela Lee. In the first round, the eight-time BJJ World Champion wasted no time bringing Lee into her world, asserting her dominance on the ground. It was much of the same from the Brazilian in the second stanza, as she dragged the Singaporean sensation to the canvas and controlled most of the action the mat. Though the Singaporean sensation staged a late comeback in the third frame, Nicolini's steady dose of ground and pound proved to be the difference as she claimed a massive unanimous decision victory against the ONE Atomweight World Champion.

Michelle is A god fighter and she gots more points by her hand impact on Angela face clearly .That's the points of Michelle that's why she won and she deserved it. .While Angela is on top Then Michelle recovery so fast to be the top .And I think Angela Didn't got point to her face once .
Watched this 3 times to understand the unanimous decision result....yes it was a close fight , both girls were solid on the floor ... but there is no way in hell that was a unanimous decision. Angela had done enough over the entire 3 rounds to have her hand raised. I’m sure there were many questions asked immediately after the fight .

Its true that Nicolini controlled the fight to the ground by grabbing her and holding onto Angela relentlessly, however I felt that the judges discounted Angela's reversals each time she was pinned and was pounding Nicolini repeatedly as well. It was unlucky for Angela unfortunately as personally, I feel that Nicolini didn't do much except that she kept pinning Angela to the ground. She did not really offer any real threat to Angela on the ground and there weren't any near submission attempts. I mean look at Nicolini clinging onto Angela's leg like a beggar and kept getting pounded on the head for example. Overall Angela should have won the fight.

Nicolini never does much of anything except continually trying to grapple her opponent to the floor, where she seems to spend most of her time! Mostly underneath. Totally boring fight if you can call it that! Just a load of scrabbling around on the floor. I almost went to sleep watching it. Corrupt judges, money changing hands no doubt. Goes on all the time! I am not one of Lee’s biggest fans but this time she won no problem. Note to Judges- Get your eyes tested or GET OUT!!

Angela Lee is very clever at ground work and leg and arm locks and chokes and judo throws and is very clever with many tricks and tactics and highly intelligent .

@@AzNightmare Striking isn't the only thing. Michelle was attacking with submissions first two rounds and Angela was all on defense. Michelle had more ground control time

The only intelligent comment made. I guess none of these commenters watch or know enough about mma to see that Angela was the one being controlled the entire fight, with the exception of the third round. Angela had a decent third round, but didn't do enough to get the win.

The judges in the UFC are appointed by each state’s athletic commission which are not hired by the ufc. Including referees

Nicolini DID NOT win. More like corrupt judges lining their pockets! In fact she never threw a decent punch throughout the match. All she wants to do is spend most of the time on the floor where there is less chance of getting hit. Must be the most ‘boring’ fighter ever!! How the hell did she ever get to this level?

The only time michelle ever did anything was on the 2nd round. The 1st round angela should have more points, and 3rd round angela defended everything michelle was throwing at her while also being able to reverse and did alot more in 10 secs then michele did in 3mins. Such a shame.

lee won but would have got to have a knock out or submission to actually win if their had of been another round would have made a massive difference as lee was getting the better of nicolini... im a big fan of nicolini and it was a fantastic fight to watch very close call I actually think their should be a rematch to see can any of them get a submission because that will be the real winner
Agreed. This fight should rightly be judged as a draw, except that Chatri Sityodong won't allow draws in One Championship. Every judge needs to pick a winner, and there are always 3 judges in every One Championship fight, hence no draws allowed.

If I'm one of the judge, gonna score it as draw. 1 - Same 2 - Michelle 3 - Angela The Stand up striking didn't workout for Angela Lee. But she managed to make her way out of the ground and pound of Michelle. Michelle also didn't dominate all the ground control because Angela sometimes have a good scramble and make herself go on top of Michelle. Angela Lee also have a good strikes especially in round 3. But if the bout is only grappling, Michelle got the win by a Unanimous decision. Overall, as for me I will judge this bout as draw.

Yes, you have a point. I'm surprised on angela's sweeps. Tho even she's on top position, nicolini can neutralize her. She cant ground and pound nicolini and that's authentic bjj. But angela is a high level on the ground no doubt.
@@bajomers2961 If I was a judge for that fight, and since old stuffy billionaire Chatri Sityodong insists on no draws for his One Championship fights, yes I would indeed give the victory to Angela rather than Michelle. The judges gave it to Michelle because (for all 3 rounds combined) the duration Michelle was on top of Angela > the duration Angela was on top of Michelle, plus all takedowns were by Michelle not by Angela. But I agree that Angela deserves greater credit than Michelle overall because Angela eventually successfully reversed to the top position each time, and had more successful strikes than Michelle.

Was a fantastic match , yes i thought the decision was given to Nicollini as she was the attacker , but also yes Angela defended awesomeley , had Angela been able to defend against the takedowns and make Nicollini fight on her feet she would have won the decision / , winning on the ground is one thing , stopping the fight getting to the ground is another .

I thought Lee won. If it didn’t end with the rear naked choke attempt, I’d have called it a draw. Up until the end neither fighter had a clear cut advantage.
You're kidding right? 90% of the fight was grappling. The only close round was the 3rd. Nicolini clearly won the first 2 rounds. How many times did Angela have a dominant position? None! You could make the argument that she had her back at the end, but I'm not sure if she had both hooks in. Other than that she didn't pass the guard once and didn't have a single dominant position (mount, back, side control, NS). While Nicolini passed her guard and had her mounted in every single round. I'm pretty sure Nicolini had at least 5 minutes of dominant positions in the whole fight. I don't understand these comments, because it looks to me like the Angela Lee fan club. That being said I'm also a fan of Angela and I think she improved her grappling and she is the future of the division, but not yet.

Angela overall just reversed so many positions plus a few ground and pound was a good touch. Lee should have won either way. At least 2 out of 3 rounds Lee won.

Of course she deserves to lose this fight, you obviously don't know martial arts and it's scoring, Angela Lee spent most of her time defending offensive attacks on the ground and sweps but never utilised her stand up attacks, most of the fight was on the ground and their is only one outcome when you are facing a 3rd degree black belt hall of famer Jujitsu great.
Nicolini was more active, both on top and bottom. I think that is what made the difference.

Angela was hit only once or twice and ended both the rounds and fight on top. Sure Nicolini can grapple, but I she didn't have any submission attempts or dealt any damage and was revered a lot.

Reading all the comments made me cringe. No doubt Nicolini won this match. Angela just looked more aggressive but in reality Nicolini was the one controlling the pace of the game the whole time.

Lee fought hard, but Nicolini clearly dominated every stage and was forcing all the attacks. All Lee could do was defend. Clear victory for Nicolini.
