Change CIRCULAR SAW to CHOP SAW

2017 ж. 6 Қар.

Hi. My name is Darek and in this video I'll show you how to change a CIRCULAR SAW to a CHOP SAW.
I used the Evolution EVO230 saw. I rarely use it, so I decided to make it into a chop saw. If you want, you can use a standard circular saw, but then you'll only be able to cut wood and soft materials.
The tool works very well, cuts quickly and accurately. Assembly and disassembly takes about 90 seconds, so I think it is a good result.
I am glad that I can use this device.

  • Hi Darek, thanks for posting this nice video! I have a 7" metal cutting circular saw too, and had put serious thought into a chop saw project like yours. The only thing that stopped me was finding out that the carbide blades get dull very fast when you cut alloyed steels. In that case, you have to use a bandsaw, so I ended up purchasing one of those. The circular saw is still my choice for cutting sheets of mild steel up to 3/8" (10 mm) thick; just clamp a piece of bar to the sheet for a guide, and you will get a perfectly straight cut with a clean edge.

  • Man awesome build! Your vids never cease to amaze me. I'm into lutherie and woodworking and watching your vids helped me repair and enhance 3 of my machines for cheap money. Since I've been watching your videos I've been salvaging metal, motors and learning welding which I now meanwhile can do pretty well. I would so like to build my own thickness sander, because they are so expensive, but I'm still not sure how exactly. If you ever fancy making a video building a thickness sander I'll be very interested in seeing how you do that.
