  • "You take a sound. Any sound. Record it and then change its nature by a multiplicity of operations. Record it at different speeds. Play it backwards. Add it to itself over and over again. You adjust filters, echoes, acoustic qualities. You combine segments of magnetic tape. By these means and many others you can create sounds which no one has ever heard before. Sounds which have indefinable and unique qualities of their own. A vast and subtle symphony can be composed from the noise of a pin dropping. In fact one of the most vibrant and elemental sounding noises in tonight's program me started life as an extremely tinny cowbell. "It's a sort of modern magic…"

  • When I listen to music such as this, I think back to a thought I keep having that nothing really matters. Not in the sense that it's not worth doing anything, however. More in the sense that this mere fact that nothing matters makes everything powerless against oneself. Nothing matters, so why worry about anything? We treat emotions like they're rules that guide us. Popular phrases like "follow your heart" and similar ones tell us to strive for what we're happy for, but if nothing really matters if one was to look at the bigger picture, is there any reason to do that? What if your whole life, you lived by logic, and logic is what you trust most. What is stopping this person from just doing what they feel safe doing, or even love doing? All societies try to point everyone in one direction, but in the end anyone can take any direction they want. Evil and Good cannot exist without the other, so why do we call it evil? If someone wants to spend their life doing drugs and living on the streets, what fundamentally makes it so important to cure this person of their addiction, and get them a job for money? Everything is meaningless, but in a more positive way that anyone can do whatever they want, and one will actually see no drawbacks done onto themselves. It truly is a free world, and the limits we see are but the limits we create for ourselves.

    • Smely Ely you might be on to something xp I tend to look at something from as many diff angles as possible and then I find there's more to everything than what I first glimpsed, so much more, we are beings in a world the binds us to meaningless things, its one way to become hollow, explore, try new things, work out who/what you are and live it! Listening to odesza in a bubble bath, fucking bliss! Aha .
