This is how I steal a PIN code | Timon Krause | TEDxAmsterdam
Timon Krause, Henning Neidhardt (piano & composer) & Kevin Wolf (drums) perform part of their MINDGAMES theater s Timon Krause studied philosophy and works as an entertainer, author and consultant around the world. He specialises in teaching businesses how to use the skillset of a mentalist. Timon is the current holder of the title 'Best European Mentalist' and the youngest mind reader to ever have been awarded this title. Currently, Timon is touring the Netherlands with Henning Neidhardt and Kevin Wolf. Together, they perform their show “MINDGAMES” - a mix of mind reading, music and live hypnosis. Henning Neidhardt works as a pianist and musical director, composing music to fit the occasion. Kevin Wolf makes his living as a drummer and musical coach, specialising in exploring new and uncharted technological territory. if a purple dolphin in a pentagon frame equals 9 *what have i learnt in school*
It's simple math Nicholas... A pink elephant inside a star would equal a totally rigged game.
Nicholas, you haven't learned how to spell, to use capitalization or punctuation.
@@nichmon3221 its wrong of you to assume that. i just type this way, without capitalisation or punctuation
😃😂 if we ever told this to our teachers then they would have kicked us out from class
@@nichmon3221 "Nicholas, you haven't learned how to spell ..." I don't see anything wrong with his spelling--unless of course he's fixed it since you make that comment.
I love how he GAVE the wallet to the audience to pass it along
it's Amsterdam. what's gonna happen, they'll drop it or something?
yes, we all saw how he pick pocketed the fellow and obtained all the details.
@@krisoko This is indeed what happened. If you notice, he didn't rad his I.D. he looked at his bank card, and read the I.D. that was next to it. Look carefully. he put the bank card on top of the wallet, pocketed them and then only handed the wallet back- Through the audience- so as to have plausible deniability. There was music and electric drums... no -way its a heist, right? There's cameras and everything.

“nice and loud, Andrew!” *three to four claps falter off into silence*
You might have noticed that all answers from out of the auditorium were barely audible. They basically only recorded the speaker's mic and the instruments.
This guy has his own 2 person chill band...shouldn't we all have one?
Don Rodrigues: Reminds me of some funny / sarcastic action movie I saw where the protagonist had his own theme music -- 5 musicians followed him around playing typical music appropriate to the given scene. I think today we can all have something like this called a smart phone with a music app, for example.
So he reveals part of a persons bank details and then passes his wallet through a big crowd of random people... 🤨
Ecki Same thought
Nobody would take the card
He's obviously going to check to make sure everything is there right away, so if someone took it, he would call them out right then and there. And as mentioned elsewhere in the comments, he can obviously just change his PIN with a quick call to his bank that night. It's not really a big deal.
You’re right! So naive of him to think he can predict what people will or will not do..
Exactly!!!!
i wish he called me up on the stage so he can say 6969 out loud
well sorry but you wouldn't pass the wild animal - color - shape questions :D
@@1Girl248 jokes on you cause even if I thought of it I wouldn't sit down. Easy game.
@@Redxminder fair enough, i would've just immediately sat down after the first question, because why stand when you can sit

I love what the pianist in the back is playing while Timon is cracking the PIN code
It's called mindgames, and it applies to every moment of this performance. Nothing is random, or not planned.
What if the guy did not had any paper on his card ?
@@TeslaRockin They know each other: it's "staged".
What showmanship!
The dramatic music kills it
The way the music comes back on after he figures out the number sounds like a movie

Quick, lets play an elimination game where somebody knows to pick other colors and objects and creatures, then "randomly" select them and guess their stuff... then just arbitrarily pick someone from the back and "guess" his pin code? I am so not impressed by this.
This guys used to live in my town and he can do stuff like thid dont ask me how
Both of the guys he picked are definitely plants

This guy did the same show in german „night wash“ and you can see how he gets the wallet out of his own back pocket!!
Even if he guessed wrongly I would have said he guessed correctly.

How is this a TedTalk?
This is a TedX talk, not a Ted talk. They are much much easier to get on.
THANK YOU!!!! Finally found one that can THINK!
"TED Talks are influential videos from expert speakers on education, business, science, tech and creativity" This seems pretty creative, and its focused on the science of mind reading so I feel like it fits
There was no science of mind reading here. TEDx is just entertainment, not educational or informational.
My mind reading science here
He knew both people
The music is so random!
You never told us how though
He showed us. The same way he guessed his birthday. He cheated.
Exactly. He told you, you have to play the mind games from the very beginning. It was staged ;)
Wdym.
Simple. Notice how he forcefully said to look at him? When he went through the numbers, the hand had very little to do with it. He was watching the mouth and eyes. Subtle movements show the performer what the key points are. His statement that when told not to think of something, we immediately think about it, is a huge hint that a moment later when asked not to think about his pin number, he did. His lips would have moved slightly as he mentally read out the number. Performer then only has to watch for the eyes looking slightly away as he reads out the numbers to confirm what he already knows. Takes years to learn to read it fast and precisely, which is why it is so impressive to watch.
gaijininja what time stamp did he say all this? I was under the impression he was going to explain it.
if he let the audience decide that who is gonna come, then and only then I believe the show is real...!!!
Hero :D
Sachin Verma engrish?
And even that can be manipulated.
That would make it a very boring show. An audience takes forever to make that kind of decision.
I have maybe a better idea: he can do like like the bride 👰 in the end of her wedding with a bouquet of flowers. How catchs the bouquet comes on the stage.
He is so in love with himself
Thank you

Dude know stage took his card
"Think of a simple geometric figure" "A pentagon" Sure mate.
lmao this is hilarious
I thought of hexagon. The whole point was not to pick the obvious.
To be fair, I though of an elephant first, then green, and after he said he something about unpredictable minds, I also thought about pentagon
@@fhasgw2398 - If you mumble 'unpredictable' it does sound a little like 'pentagon'. I've noticed Derren Brown use that technique to slip highly incongruous words almost subconsciously into a sentence. Mumble isn't the right word, but I hope you get my meaning.
I thought of a nonagon. It's a polygon with 11 sides. Get absolutely DEMOLISHED screen guy guy face

So TED talks are magic shows now??
They have had magicians on many times. TED is an acronym for "Technology, Entertainment, Design." Magic falls under entertainment.
@@michaelrdegroat thats what TED want us to think !!
I don't think it's a TED talk. The scene doesn't have their usual name written on the stage.

a purple dolphin framed by a pentagon equals 9.
Fit up.
If I was asked what the first digit of my pin code is I wouldn't know. I only know the shape it makes on the keypad.
The top row of numbers on a phone (or ATM) keypad is 1, 2, 3. On a calculator keypad, the top row of numbers is 7, 8, 9. Once, I was at an ATM, and instead of punching in the "phone" shape for the amount I wanted to withdraw, I punched in the "calculator" shape for the amount (because money = math = calculator), and then I wondered why the machine didn't dispense my money. Fortunately, I figured out what I had done wrong, and was then able to get my money.
“He’s coming all the way from... *uh oh if i say england they’ll know its staged how do i save this* the back!”

That’s exactly what I though! Lol
This guy isn’t English lol

That last guy standing was a setup
Pin code was checked by keeping an eye on his Pulse on his Hand

I have to wonder what would happen if during the PIN code game, Andrew had started thinking about things that were not digits, and continuously changed the thing thought about?

PIN Code: Personal Identification Number Code Almost as bad as saying ATM machine
How easy it is to integrate one dude out of the audience in the Show beforehand, no other way to find the number 9, there is no logic behind - nice show tho
Like, if he asked numers between 1 - 10, he could guess right at quite an high rate since people most often choose 3 or 7 to make it difficult, but with so many numbers its a different thing, or is it? But no guarantee, im usually not that guy but i genuinly thinks its staged.
I thought of number 9 too
Yeah he was a plant, they both were.
I thought of a purple dolphin in a square and got 9, so I think there is some logic behind it
@@MysticalApple Corelation does not equal causation. You have to consider that over 100 thousand people watched this video. Meaning.... there will be people that have that same thing happen. But there will also be people that have the same thing... but with a 5 instead. Or a 3. Or a 28. Or a 16.

Why is everyone complaining? Mentalists and magicians NEVER explain how their tricks work. Also, if you watched closely and listened carefully you would have been able to explain his techniques to yourselves. It's very well known how mentalists read and manipulate minds, and Timon is using exactly the same techniques: 1. giving suggestions and watching for physical reactions (e.g. feeling the man's muscle tension in the fingers while counting from 1 to 0), 2. using his knowledge about probabilities (e.g. knowing that many middle-aged men try to trick the mentalist by thinking about the next number in the PIN, or that most people who don't think about a blue lion in a circle are drawn to the number 9). Of course the first trick could have been set up, but: Timon very impressively showed how predictable humans are, because we all think alike. An example from everyday life: good salespersons read our reactions and know what to say in order to make us buy stuff we actually don't need. (This is pretty much what other TEDx speakers tell us in a very explicit way - and they get praised for it.) You can learn a lot from his performance if only you were willing to!
How i steal your PIN code: Buy you a ticket to Timon;s show and bribe him to pick you😎
Purple is red and blue combined. He thought of both colors together.
This is amazing. I truly do believe that this is real and l enjoyed this performance very much!
So how did he do it? Or am I the only one interested to know?
he just knew two guys in the audience.
@@dopefish86 No no, It's called muscle-reading. Tiny movements you automatically make when thinking about a movement. And you can pick those up. You can even see this when he is saying the numbers and moving a different finger which each number. Andrew (?) is now thinking about his (for example) thumb because it's associated with the number he tries to not think about. No he is trying to not think about the number and he is trying to not move his thumb and this is actually pretty easy (when compared to other mind-reading tricks).
@@ansems3309 still think it is fake :D I know muscle reading exists but I don't think it works like this. Not everybody associates his fingers with numbers or would even think about not moving a part of their body.
@@germansniper5277 Well, with just one hand for 10 numbers, it doesn't matter which finger you is triggered, I assume. More importantly, he's telling the numbers loudly as he's doing the trick.
@@germansniper5277 That's misdirection. He was probably reading his face or something. Don't know if it's fake or not though
damn thats crazy, at first i thought of cheetah purple pentagon, what would my number have been i wonder.
so we have an ocelot, orange, and hexagon. okay then.
I have to say, it was a nice show. It's just entertainment, but... Andrew, who came "all the way" from Engla... i mean, the back, was probably well aware of what was gonna happen. Not saying he's part of the group of performance but maybe he was picked out beforehand and told to act like the number was his PIN. So many options here. I'd be impressed if they convinced me that the guy was chosen completely random (by the audience for example). Also, this aint no TED talk. This is just a show.
I am from South Africa too, I chose magenta( basically purple) a dolphin, a hexagon(close to a pentagon) and my number was also nine! Haha
nice team work
thank you so being here
Purple dolphin guy obviously a stooge - he was deliberately picked.
If he could tell me how many people in that audience are high I'd really be impressed.

Here is some ACTUAL substance... in the beginning of the actor coming up stage, he was asked, “I assume you have a bank card in your wallet.” 87% of people would at that point bring their attention to their wallet, most going as far as to pay their back pocket. At this point, if it wasn’t staged, the subject would notice his wallet was missing.
Despite the fact that it was staged and the wallet was in the "magician" pocket the entire time
this was more about philosophy than mental tricks
Mate he never gave back the wallet
