A portal through which demons have access. You're telling me opening a door to demons won't cause you to get slaved into idolatry? Nah, at this point, you're just lying to yourself. Wanting to justify a sinful practice is another clear sing of idolatry. With all due respect, I don't care what your opinion is when the Bible states a clear truth.

  • Believe it or not, videogames actually helped protect me from the abuse of my family growing up, and taught me values that ultimately led me to my faith in Christ. In this sense, God USED video games to save me and bless me. I don't play anywhere near the amount I used to for the same reason. I also prayed that God would lessen my addiction. I no longer feel addicted to video games. I still enjoy them, but I only really play them for a week or two at a time about two to four times a year when a game I really looked forward to came out. Otherwise, it's become so easy for me to ignore

    • Praise the Lord, man. And I take it He didn't let you experience too many bad video games, that was my childhood too. I only started playing darker games when I was 13, I think that helped me not get desensitized as _much_ as if I had started playing dark games when I was younger. After all Philipians 4:8 says for us to "think about what is excellent and worthy of praise" (paraphrased), not what is dark and evil all the time, even if we're thinking of how to fight it. Since Jesus already defeated the world _for_ us, after all.

  • Hey, Christian video game developer here. It is sad to see the current state of the video game industry that is so deeply rooted in the world. We have been attempting to incorporate biblical messaging into our future projects not only for believers to play, but to help nonbelievers. Although it may not be seen all of the time, there are plenty of good game companies that are attempting to use video games to help spread the gospel. Please pray for us and the game we are working on currently.

  • I’m 23 years old. I still play video games. They’re just a passion of mine. But lately I’ve been playing them a lot less. Mainly because I work full time now and I don’t always have time. But also because I’m part of Church community and I wanna continue to grow my relationship with God. So while my love for gaming won’t go away, I have learned not to give all my time to them and make time for the more important things in life. Also, no game that I recall has caused me to sin. I could be wrong but I’ve kinda been the one to always make the distinction between gaming and reality.

    • No, the bible ie not a great source for holiness... Although you can find God in the bible the bible is littered with horrible laws and archaic barbaric views. I can say without a doubt my holy word Is Christ, not the bible. To the Christians... What EVERY CHRISTIAN STATE who's done wrong IN THE US should be saying to others.. I read the bible like anyone else but know it's man-made and the laws inside said bible are man-made... Men hated certain groups back then and we have that same pattern today. While it talks about my lord and Savior. The Bible is not my holy word nor shall it be my moral compass. If I were making it my moral compass. Would you think it's moral to Stone a son to death if he is rebellious I'd hate to be a male teenager back in the days of biblical events. Or make women stay silent in front of men and or never let them hold Ministry jobs. Or they were kept outside if they were on their period. Slaves were kept too.. Not to mention Mass genocide of Men women and children, Rape, and attempted rape...Murder, Adultery, and such this is what the bible has.. My holy word Is Christ in me when I speak for the brokenhearted I embody Christ when I know the hurts suffering and crying every night because they are unfed, beaten, or hated I embody Christ. The fact being a Christian doesn't mean ANYTHING TO ME because what kind of a Christian I would be if I kept hating? What kind of a Christian I would be if I didn't follow my path and walked alone with God. You fake Christians out there are doing it wrong.

  • Good video! I used to play video games a lot. It consumed me. I used it to escape from my problems before being saved and found myself doing it after God saved me. I would play exclusively single-player bc I didn't have friends who played the games I enjoyed a lot (Monster Hunter, Divinity 2:OS,...), and didnt particularly care for multiplayer. I can't honestly say its sin outright for everyone, but I can say that for me to live a life that is serving the Lord with zeal, RUNNING (not walking) the race, and storing up for myself treasures in heaven, my life couldn't include video games. I found that when my life was consumed by video games, I had given up drawing, something I used to genuinely enjoy doing. I also neglected any semblance of nighttime devotions. I now enjoy that, and the Lord has shown me ways I can use it directly for Him, as you have Impact

But with violence I believe as long as you're not going out and doing those things in real life it's not a sin. If we can read the Bible that's full of stories that teach us about sin and Violence then we can play video games like that. We just need to check our hearts and intentions while we do it. I bond with my family over the Master Chief collection. (Halo) and we are shooting at each other with guns all the time. But when we play capture the flag or King of the Hill it's a good way to learn teamwork. I believe God wants us to know the difference between fiction and Reality. 1 Corinthians 8 is pretty clear on that.

  • Amen. This is what I've been trying to say to a lot of people about this stuff. I was raised as a big nerd from my dad. One of my earliest memories growing up was playing Spiderman on the PS1. I loved playing them. Growing up, I can definitely say they were a huge idol in my life. My parents got divorced when I was young and I was made fun of a lot in school. Video games were the only way I could feel good about myself as I did my best to get as good as possible at them. It wasn't until I gave my life to Christ four years ago was I able to kick them off their throne in my heart. I still enjoy them greatly and have had many great times with them, especially with friends in fellowship. I mainly play them with friends or to study them and how they're written and made, or to just get a little rest after some long days. One game I've played a lot of the past couple of years was Final Fantasy 14. A game where most Christians would most likely think what the heck is a Christian doing playing a game like that? And me and my best friend, who got me into this game, have had those fears in our hearts playing it. And yet, I can safely say without a shadow of a doubt that this game has probably been one of the only ones that have drawn us closer to God in such great ways that no one would have ever saw coming. Not even us. We thought it would be a little fun with our silly anime characters. But we grew attached to our characters and to the story. We put a lot of ourselves into our characters and their struggles became our struggles, and ours theirs. When we'd face something in our Christian walked that rocked us or affected our hearts, we had them go through it too. We started writing fan-fictions over them as both me and my friend want to become writers, and we started learning more about ourselves and what holds us back and what blessings God gave us through them. I have understood more about my relationship with God through writing my character's stories. And, whether or not the developers of the game intended it or not, I started seeing Christ-like themes in the game. One of which came at a very low moment in time for me and got me to realize even more how much God loved me to give His one and only perfect Son for me to be saved. We still play it today and are very fond of our characters as we've put so much of ourselves into them. As silly and as nerdy as it sounds, I am thankful for my au ra monk named Sirina for helping me grow in my faith and understanding of God's love as well as my own heart. The song Close in the Distance is still a song I tear up to because it makes me remember that this life we're given and graced with by God is an adventure. All life is an eternal adventure. And because of the Lord Jesus Christ, I am able to not only stand up after all of life's hardships and my own sinful choices, but also forge ahead into the unknown knowing and BELIEVING God is walking it with me because He loves me so. Thank you for listening to my nerdy rant. Me and my friend have had a lot of joy, laughter, and peace from this game we share. I still want to be a writer, but I'm working on my craft and struggle to make time for it. But I now notice through this video that maybe I too should take a break from it to focus on what God would want me to do and get better at writing. Thank you brother. May God continue to bless you in this ministry.

I'll keep it brief, but there was a game which I was OBSESSED with in High School (certainly too much) which had a moral message about being kind to others and forgiving your enemies. Though I'm less of a gamer now, I'm still inspired by the way that game handled its message and actually gave me a better glimpse into God's character and how He REALLY wants us to love other people. To this day, I think it left a positive impact on how I approach talking to people about God and showing mercy to those who don't deserve it. I even tried to write an AU which emphasized this Christ-like behavior more clearly, but I've never gotten to finish it, and I've been really busy. Hopefully I can inspire other people's faith with this! Thank you for sharing, and God bless!

    • I love your comment, it unlocked a memory of mine when I was playing ff14 and ending on endwalker and journey you go with characters... Its amazing even tho game doesnt have Christian themes it actually brought me closer to God with its heavily religious themes and life questions we all ask. It actually made me loves games more in general and started to question are there more games like this. Sadly i think alot of Christians might give up on game on first glance and I dont blame them, game has alot of japanise influence ( ofc it's japanise game) which include alot of their gods and other gods of other religions and has some weird themes here and there but I think its worth playing still. I'm still growing in my faith and constantly fighting in my inner self about video games , should I accept some themes for greater good or just avoid it entirely... I still don't know but I can only say ff14 helped me grow in my faith for sure

    • Dude! I'm a huge nerd too! But oh my gosh! Let me tell you. I've been doubting my relationship with God for a long time. But when I started listening to Twenty øne piløts....God used it. People would deny that Tyler Joseph isn't a Christian because his music isn't technically Christian but he is. And I firmly believe he loves Jesus. His faith in God is so prevalent in his music. My faith has gotten Stronger with God listening to Twenty One pilots more than any Christian artist (besides MercyMe) The song Ode to Sleep helped remind me that I shouldn't fear demons because Jesus is with me. The song "Jumpsuit" reminds me that Jesus is my Jumpsuit. He covers me and gets me through trials. The song "Holding on To You" reminds me that God is constantly working on me and that I'm holding onto him. The song" Implicit Demand for Proof" reminds me that I'm not the only one that doubts in my Christian walk about if God is really real or we are not mental. The song "The Judge " took me back to when I first got saved and understood I needed a savior. "Heavy Dirty Soul" reminds me of how people cry out for redemption and Saving by Jesus' blood. And the Lore describes me and my walk even more. How the city of DEMA represents strongholds in our lives. It's just beautiful how God has used it. Believe it or not God has used the band AJR in my Christian walk. Hearing the suffering and hard times these Jewish Brothers have gone through has given me a soft spot for them. Literally a burden. I'm understanding God's people better now. I don't see them as disgusting devil worshipers that reject Jesus like a lot of Christians do. I see them as people in need of a savior. People who are once lost like we were that need to be directed into the love of Jesus Christ (through the Old Testament because they believe the New Testament is a sin.) And yes AJR themselves say they don't believe in God but I've got a better understanding of why Jews are the way they are now. They are still God's people. Christians didn't replace them. The church didn't replace them even though a lot of false prophets will tell you so. They are still God's chosen people and the rapture is still coming. I pray that AJR's eyes would eventually be opened and that those brothers would understand God loves them and wants a relationship with them. That "God is really real" And that he's not a tyrant that takes away people you love because he hates you but to better you as a person. Sorry for my tangent. Also! One time my love for anime helped me bring a girl at Christian camp back to God. We bonded over my Hero academia. And When she heard I was concerned about her she understood that God was working to bringing her back from being backslidden.

    • I don't think you need to feel conflicted. I would ask myself, if I were you, why you and your studio are making games. I doubt it's expressly to get people addicted to your games. I would bet it's to entertain and tell stories. I would compare it to giving a homeless person money. They might use it to get drugs or alcohol, or they might use it to get some food. All this to say is that what matters is what is in your (and your studio's) heart because you can't control how people react to your game. Some might become completely obsessed and ruin their lives, some might find it the biggest blessing. Online games have tons of stories from both sides of that fence.

Anakin from Star wars is a good example of how sin affects you over time and drags you deeper if you give into it and dwell on it. All these beautiful and unique animals and plants and colours are just by random out of nothing? We are able to love and be moral while we are just matter? If it is survival of the fittest then why would we make up God or rather gods because people would worship their own creation thinking it's god. I know God is real because i know God as do all born again Christians. I am not saying this to offend you but it is true when the Bible says that fool says in his heart there is no God and that professing they are wise, they became fools. Didn't it say in the Gospel of John that light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it? And see, many say God isn't real or how can God become a man or die on the cross and etc,you don't comprehend Him. Salvation is not earned but learned. You just need to understand what Jesus did for you and believe it. It is written that He Who knew no sin became sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. In the beginning,God said let there be light and it was,the big bang. God created the whole universe for us and we had intimate relationship with God but Satan hated that and he wanted to be as God and so he tempted Adam and Eve and they sinned and by doing so,they made Satan master over the earth and we inherited sin nature and we became children of Satan and death entered the world and the world became corrupt but God didn't give up on us,throughout old testament He gave pictures of Jesus saving us and restoring everything back. Jesus is our Kinsman Redeemer,He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He won,He died on the cross where His blood was shed for our remission of sins and was buried and is risen and He told us He is going to the Father to prepare a place for us and a wedding feast because we,the church, are His bride and when He returns on second coming and we with Him,He will restore everything! See,the wars and rumours of wars and earthquakes and plagues and pestilences and famines and poverty and deceptions and signs in the sun moon and stars, the days of Noah and Lot...it is all happening as Jesus said,to the letter as well as Paul said, people are daily saying peace and safety and the perilous times from 2 Timothy 3 is here and the Revelation 12 sign happened and the Daniel 9:27 7 year covenant is here at UN,it will take effect on 1st January 2024. Everything Jesus said is happening and i believe we are definitely in the last days and end times,Jesus is coming soon! Satan is father of all lies and author of all confusion,he has been a murderer from the beginning! Don't believe a lie Gof isn't real,He is but you are probably afraid of the reality of hell or something like that but there's nothing to be afraid of so much because it's so easy to get saved, see how Jesus is speaking the truth,He is trustworthy so believe He is Saviour,He died and is risen, confess He is Lord and you will be saved. It isn't about living by the law kr going to church or giving money and etc,it is simply believing Jesus's words that He is Son of God and Christ and is risen and so you confess Him Lord and then because you are saved, you will do good works like helping others and sharing the Gospel and food and so on,you will have relationship with God. Jesus loves you so much and i love you too,God bless!

  • Another great one. Some of the most puzzling-yet-highly-rewarding ministry for me has involved God using the video games that I've mastered, committing my way to the Lord, listening to Him as to what to do evangelistically, and then just obey while keeping a measured balance between work, ministry, and play (and often juggling while playing). God gave me assignments very directly relating to those or relating to specific people or groups within those communities, and it's been extremely unique and a real blessing. My favorites were taking those skills and ministry prep to hundreds of churches over the years as well as concerts/shows and tours across college campuses -- I'd play DDR and then give a related evangelistic and/or mercy--based encouraging message. lol it sounds so corny, but it has been so cool. Great warnings about balance, addiction, keeping pure in heart, and the like in this video. You really have to be sure your First Love is your First Love in all cases and stick to that without straying a single degree. "No other gods before Me" is key!

  • I really play video games moderately, but recently I was wondering if playing video games in itself was a sin!!!, than I realised that it depends on how and why you play as well as the time you spend playing ! Thank you very much for the video , this is really in the minds of Christian gamers today !

It should never be the biggest part of my day, bigger than god or make up my whole thinking. And I don’t want to loose to do things in real life like just going for a walk with god, exercising or going after hobbies or meeting with friends. Your video just helped me so much to clear my thoughts & dominating my desires.

  • Ok, this video was INCREDIBLE! It taught me so many things I either knew or forgot or I didn't know! And it has given me a LOT to think about now. I usually play video games for like 8 hours or something like that every weekend and about 3 - 4 hours on the weekdays. Reason why I'm saying that it has taught me a lot is because I sometimes like to play very violent games where... well I think you know what I mean... and I, until I saw this video, never thought about the fact that it could be sinful! Thank you so much for this, it has really taught me a lot of stuff to remember and set into action! And always remember, Jesus loves you!

  • Great job with this topic! One of the best I've watched on not just outright condemning, but encouraging introspective discernment. So much of our Christian history is summed up in overindulgence and then overcorrecting. Instead we must constantly use discernment to weigh all things at all times. It's much harder to have to constantly always evaluate everything in our lives, but being able to do so always keeps us mindful of our actions and motives.

  • The best advice I had gotten on video games from my own mother, was this "Would you play this game with Jesus or God?" It really helped set a good precedent on what I should play growing up. As time went by I did eventually start playing some more mature games, like Halo or Team Fortress 2 (I turn on gibs and disable the gore), but I never lost that question which helps guide me still to this day. I also set the standard of never buying games with strong language, sexual content, or nudity. These are just things I follow and help me stay in a good area I think.

  • Everything in moderation, including video games. It also obviously matters the content of the games you play, therefore we should be mindful of what we allow to be shown in front of us (garbage in is garbage out). ALSO, multiplayer games can be considered an opportunity for outreach and evangelism if done with finesse and wisdom. There’s my two cents.

  • Thank a lot this video was litteraly for me! There's a video game that I used to play, but I cannot anymore since I have wi-fi issues. Every time I was picking up my Bible, I was just focus on if the game is finally going to work. Actually, I never play that video game that much ( around 30 min a day but I was skipping a lot of days ) but when that game wasn't working anymore, I noticed that it took an important place in my life and I didn't even notice it. Yesterday the second thing that I did after waking up was to turn on my laptop just to see if that game is finally going to work. That's the first time I did this. It still doesn't work at the moment but I'll try to get over it. I think that I kind of miss the game because that's the only thing I'm good at I guess...but it's only been 4 days. Again thank you a lot for this video I notice now that I have to change my habits and spend even more time with God! ( ps : sorry for my bad English, all the love for you from France )

      @metal42@metal426 ай бұрын
    • Hey bro, saw this and replying to encourage you and get you back on track. This happened to me when I was living in sin and I thought all hope was lost. I lost conviction to sin, didnt read the bible and started to find it hard to be a Christian. In Hebrews 3:12-13 it states: "See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called "Today" so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness." It states hear that we can actually be hardened by the pleasures of sin tricking us and making our heart lose conviction and make it hard to hear God's voice and feel his presense. Now it states here also in Hebrews 12:1 - "Therefore, since we are surronded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us." When I was at this point, I needed to remember God's character that he was forgiving and that if you confess you sin and give it up and ask God to deliver you from it, he will. If you read through the OT, do you see how many times Israel turned away from God, but when they confessed their sin and rebellion, gave up there sin and returned to obeying the Lord and trusting in him, He forgave them. Now I leave off with this, I would recommend you do what I did, which was I was open and honest with God that I allowed sin to master me and was disobedient to his voice. I then took the idols out my life, such as watching Yt, looking at inappropriate pics/vids, started to read my bible again and asked Jesus to soften my heart again and deliver me from all sin. Remember in John 8:36 it says "So if the Son sets you free, you will he free indeed. Read the parable of the prodigal son and how the father was hoping he would return home. God also lead me to deliverance channels like Noah Hines Deliverance to get freed from unclean spirits. The Father is waiting for you to come back as if you read in the parable, it says "and he came back to his senses" and made his way back to his Father and confessed what he had done. The Father took him in and rejoiced. I hope this was of encouragment to you and when I tell you the same thing happened to me, I can absolutely relate. Last scripture for you 2 Chronicles 7:14 - "If MY PEOPLE, who bear my name, will humble themselves, pray, and seek my face and turn from their evil ways, I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land."

    • "We can no more be saved by our feelings than by our works" -Spurgeon. Feelings are Fickle, Silly, Fleeting things, they can have us up on the Mountain top of Elation one Second and down in the very Depths of the Valley of Despair 30 seconds Later! Do not trust them. Trust in the Immutable, Eternal, Unchanging, Testimony of Scripture, which Says: "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans Chapter 8 Verses 38 and 39, King James Version. *Nothing* can separate us from Christ. Just take this season of coldness as the lesson the Holy Ghost is teaching you! do not commit that Sin again if at all Possible!, for it Grieves him. We cannot lose salvation, Ever, but we can lose the joy of it, so Pray, Repent, and the Joy will return. Love and Peace.

I now wrote rules down for myself whenever I play the game, also put a time limit for myself each day, and whenever I do things like an act of pride like excessive boasting, using my words to tear others down, i put do 10 pushups as an accountability type thing to stop and remind me to be kind and encouraged to use my words to build others up because that is a problem for me. Also curse words lol each word is a push up 😅 Thanks for the video! Well made :)

  • BRAVO 👏🏼 You explained this very well. I started playing video games at the age of 4 years old and I had to kick it out at age 31. I was using it as a coping for to escape painful trama I went through in my past and didn't want my mind to focus on the repetitive post traumatic thoughts that placed me in a cycle of misery. Video games became my replacement from being properly healed by Jesus and I made it an idol. Another thing that Holy Spirit opened my eyes to is there are a lot of witchcraft and occultism games that invite the players into dark desires of the flesh. I'm someone that if a person is a Christian, I warn you to stay away from the games that invite witchcraft/occultism of any kind or the demonic. It sweeps a person into dark desires without them realizing and it's easy to say it's "make believe or imaginary/ not real" when really a person could be inviting demonic doors to open. Be safe! Great video IMPACT!❤
