If you get that thing out and restored sufficiently so Ed can drive it again I think it might just be the best story you've ever told on here. Good luck to you all.
this comment aged like fine wine
We need to sit with Ed and have him tell us his stories before is no longer around. As a matter of fact, I encourage everyone to talk to your parents and grandparents about their life and experiences while they are still here
Yes! I regret not knowing a lot about my grandparents who've passed on. I was always too young (but not uninterested in their lives, I just didn't know the types of things I wanted to ask them), but then when I got old enough to ask them questions, they were already too old and on their way out. Sometimes you want to know the stupid questions, like 'What was their favourite colour", but then other days you really want to know what they think of things, like did they ever imagine computers would a normal occurrence now. We definitely need more of Ed's stories!
Yes Alex your right you can learn a lot if you sit down shut up and let them talk a lot of people dont want to hear nothing and old person has to say but they are so wrong I could listen all day every day they didnt get that old by being stupid I value every piece of info they tell me
You said it all right there! Thank you for sharing a comment that is constructive and in my opinion has tremendous value! To be able to look in a comment section and be positively inspired and feel good about something I’ve read is very rare in this misinformation age, it’s no longer the Information Age we’re now dead in the center of this new era I like to call the misinformation age. It’s kind if like pine tree perfume, now that you’ve pinpointed the problem step 2 is it getting it off. Stay happy people and keep taxi cab air fresheners where they belong, in the taxi! Very few will understand my comment but for those that do I hope you got a chuckle ☮️💟☮️💟
I’m n todays world the young aren’t interested in their grandparents stories or experiences. Seems they are to busy and really care less. It’s a sad thing since the younger population could learn so much about history.
I like how ed is 600 years old hiking along with a cane. He's like Yoda.

The world needs a lot more women like Lizzy. God bless her and all women like her.
Matt, just to let you know there are some of us who find 100% of your content interesting. You’re doing things I’ve never done in my life so explaining your situation and introducing your crew and their role is a bonus … at least for me nothing you do is _boring!_
Not some most
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Me too ! Great stuff
Not really
Matt, the beautiful part of KZhead is I don't have to watch. Nor do you have to only do calls. We come here to watch people not just towing. I'm jealous this looked like a true adventure.
Ed has earned legend status. I'd love to see some pics of Ed from back in the day and hear more of his story. Gold mining for 40 some years? Wow.
the end was the best, when Ed did Matt's "thanks for watching." put a huge smile on my face!
Ed’s the type of guy that’ll say stuff like “I was at the Alamo when s**t went down” lol
Ed just keeps getting cooler the more we learn about him

Sitting around a camp fire with Ed telling his life stories about that place is worth more than any hard work you could ever do. Friendship is one of God’s greatest gifts.
Agree. And Amen 🙏
I'm glad I received God's greatest gift of salvation
I watched the 2 recovery episodes before this one, and what a perspective seeing them in that order. Brought a tear to my eye. What an amazing gift to an amazing man. Well done Matt, Paul, and everyone involved. When I first started watching 2+ years ago, I kinda went, "What's up with the old guy?" Then I came to enjoy & appreciate him more and more. This episode moved Ed firmly into " F'in LEGEND" position, and I think I finally really & truly appreciate why Matt has always had him around. Ed is a treasure. And an 84 year old stud, hiking into the forest with a cane! I'm now looking forward to Paul & Fab Rats restoration series on the LJ. And I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing Ed drive it again.
That day is here, July 2022
Part 2 cannot come soon enough!
thanks I looked ever where,
Friday and Sunday! MORR just posted part one of the recovery is Friday and part two will be on Sunday.
Thats For Sure !
I REALLY hope that someone sits Ed in front of a camera and just let him tell about his life! It would be epic to both see and keep for historic reasons.
Story time with Ed could be a great series!!

Same here. I'll bet Ed's biography is interesting!
I would love to see an Ed special as well
The people have spoken
2 hrs wouldn't cover the last 10 yrs of his life..... it needs to be a miniseries at least, or a tv season
That’s pretty cool Ed was an old prospector. Would be fun to hear some of his stories

From where it was, to where it is now - and now knowing that Ed has seen it, and that SMILE. Hearts to everyone involved; Matt and team, Paul and Team, Robby and Team, Sean and team SRK, and everyone in between who put in to make this possible for Ed.
Ed needs a channel where he just talks about crazy events in his life. What a legend
That would be awesome! Weekly Story time with Ed!
This would be awesome.

This is nice of them for helping Ed get his old jeep out. Pretty dope if you ask me
It has taken me a while to get up to this point after I said I would just start from the beginning, but I do truly enjoy these episodes. And Ed is just an absolute national treasure along with this Dakota. Thank you for giving us this content to watch, laugh, heart string pulls and obviously the educational side of it all. Ed is such a gem. I love him. He brings so much to this channel. I could hear him give me a weather report every morning.
"To be continued." You've mastered the art of the cliffhanger.
And, he gets them off the cliff
In this episode, Matt becomes a tourist in unfamiliar territory. He also takes a rental off-roading.
In California no less...
Yeah the irony is hilarious. At least Matt will know what he shouldn't do with the rental... lol

Someone commented, Eds like 30 years younger in his element💪 Can't wait to see the update.Takecare
“Ed you were right” Epic quote of the day. How about Ed at his age going to a place like that and having more than one gold claim. That first area is a large hydraulic pit and it’s not easy walking around those, I’ve been to a couple with a metal detector before. I literally could watch a two hour show on how the recovery went and I’m really looking forward to it.
They should make this into a movie. It has that much potential.
Sums it up nicely. Doing mostly for Ed but also just because they can.

This was done before I found your channel. Just watched it and I must say you all ROCK ! Matt and his team are awesome, Ed is amazing ! This rescue took place right in my back yard on the Yuba Watershed. Surprised I didn't see you at the bridges parking lot as I'm there very often that time of morning. I watched the rescue video as well, you are all just amazing ! Hope you didn't get any poison oak on your adventure as it can be very uncomfortable to deal with. Best channel on KZhead, keep doing the good things you do !!
This is a documentary quality contest. Can't wait for the rest of this project.
Old Ed is a badass. Going up and down those Mt at his age.
And smokin cigs while doing it.
Ed is having the time of his life! Making memories! Nothing but good times!
Man I wish it wasn't locked up! Would've been sweet to see it drive out
So, I found one of your videos (the one when you get the LJ out) and have been following it through everything. Seeing Paul do so much mech work to Robbie and the body work...man...very nice! I noticed that Ed's truck said that he served in Korea. I would like to know more about Ed...I was stationed in South Korea in 2000, and deployed there in 2007, and have always had a special place in my heart and mind for those vets who were there. (I was an AMMO Troop in the USAF, 1997-2017 Retired). Thank you for doing all of this for him, and bringing us on the journey! Putting good into this world is what we all should strive for!
Ed at 84 walked down there and back, then enjoyed a smoke! My hero 👍🏻❤️✌🏻
Just wanna point out what a bad ass Ed is. If I could be half the man he is at his age I think I’ll be doing OK. Make On Brothers
I’m Maker238 here man we love you guys!
I always liked Ed now I like him even more knowing he’s an old prospector
This is the truth!! Ed is a tough old dude!! I wish I could meet him.
how is he so bad ass? how u know what kind of a man he is??? from these videos?
I was thinking exactly the same thing. I'm 20+ years younger than Ed and I would not have been able to make that little "hike" to/from his Jeep. Someone would have been fireman carrying me back up that hill!
Bring her back alive,God bless, happy Sunday, and happiness from Nova scotia
I know people in their late 20's and early 30's that couldn't do that hike. Ed is a legend.
The mystery of the “Golden Nugget” is finally revealed! Looking forward to this recovery
I spit my coffee all over myself when Paul described Matt as “Tommy Boy”… great analogy… LOL
I nearly had to spit out my breakfast sandwich!

And the cut to the lady trying to jam the oversize carryon into the cubby HAHAHA
“Oh my… this is already deeper than I… Ed, you were right!”😂 He usually is. 👍🏻
Matt hiking and exploring the woods in DC skateboard shoes is the most ‘Matt’ thing possible!! 😆
First, ED IS THE MAN! I cannot believe how tough that ol' chap is! Still hiking them hills like it's nothing, no excuses, no help. Second, the love you guys give him is heartwarming. Once again, MORR handing out free life lessons with their vids:)
How cool to see Ed out in his element, leading the crew instead of tagging along. He looks 30 years younger. And how nice for these guys to do this for him.
My grandpa was like this in the woods. He hunting racoons with his dogs. I was a teenager and I couldn't keep up with him but put him at the grocery store and he was way behind
Oh Yes, wonderful gesture by the guys - sheer love for Ed!!
This was absolutely wonderful
That LJ Is badass, definitely worth saving, not many of those left.
That little beauty deserves to be rescued!👌😎👍
If only we could all have a friend like Matt ! Good for Ed, he’s lived enough life glad to see some of it coming back to him
Hopefully they help restore it for Ed!
@Phil M Bwahahaha!!
I'm not sure what excites me more the recovery of ED's "Golden Nugget" or the rebuild for ED ! This Journey has me thrilled in suspense ! Thanks Matt !
This little Suzuki MUST be refurbished for Ed! I' m very excited about the recovery and if it's worth being rebulit as Suzukis tend to rust away.
I can’t agree more, Operation golden nugget resurrection is what I’m even more excited for after the recovery of course!!
@@Felix-fy7ki My grandpa restores Suzuki Sidekicks, trackers, samurais, all the other iterations of essentially the same car and this video warms my heart
I hope Paul from Fabrats is the one to redo it. This is fun stuff!
Coming back to some of the earlier project videos just to refresh my memory of how much this car has gone through (and how many hoops y'all have jumped through to get it as far as it is) and I just now kind of put it together that the Golden Nugget's tenure out in the wilderness not only predates my existence, it predates the existence of my parents' relationship with eachother. When he last drove that thing, my mother was younger than my niece is now. Simply mind-blowing.
You guys are never boring. It was great to see you guys innovating on the spot and it was such a treat to get alittle history of the area and to see you guys discover the LJ20 where its rested for 40 years Ed is a national treasure and I cant get enough of him. As mentioned earlier, He looked 20 years younger and just full of energy being out in those woods. Fantastic episode and I cant wait to see how the adventure goes.
At the end, you say "I know this is boring" when you are introducing the crew, but the crew is what makes this channel awesome. And you and people like your crew are what makes the world great. Honestly as you were rattling off names I was thinking "Rudy is going to be busy back home manning the fort, hopefully he's able to wrangle his brothers or mom into running a camera". Really hope we still get our dose of Rudy and Sand Hollow content while operation Golden Nugget is in play.
Of course Ed’s friend is named Fred.
Yeah, there a country western song in there somewhere....

I had to click back on that 2x to be sure I heard that right😂. Discovery Channel “Ed & Fred” show IS in order!
They have friends named Ted, Jed and Ned.
@@anotherdave5107 don't forget the dog red... Lol
Just got say that I had not come across your channel until Eric at South Maine Auto mentioned it. Never thought I would enjoy watching about vehicle recovery so much! Just amazed at the terrain you can get your vehicles through, and even more amazed that you can get back out with another vehicle in tow. I love the banter amongst your crew members, whilst at the same time it is so obvious just how professional you guys and gals really are. Amazing how you all keep your cool, even in the trickiest of situations. A lot of the people you rescue must wonder just how on earth anyone is going to get to them, let alone get them out. Seeing the old banana or the Morvair crawling it's way towards them must be a real sight for sore eyes. Great channel!
40 years is the magic number, in high school my uncle told me if I could get my great grandpas old willys running that I could have it. It had sat out in the back of his lot for 40 years, it had a tree growing up through a hole in the floor board and out the windows. I cut that tree out and found it had sunk down to the axles so we hooked my XJ to it and gave it a few pulls until it rocked up out of its grave. It has one of those fold down ball hitch things on it so we connected it to the XJ and towed it 10 miles to my metal shop class on old rotten tires. Quick fluid change, replaced spark plugs and wires, drained and cleaned out the fuel tank, tossed a battery in it and it fired right up! I know I’m a little late to the party but I’m catching up on your videos and thought my willys story might be a relatable one to tell here haha
This is amazing. I hadn't heard anything about what this secret mission was and I expected it would just be a hook up with some other KZheadrs or something. This is way better than I imagined! I can't wait to watch this play out!

I could have sworn that Ed just celebrated his 84th birthday. He's moving quite well. Great video!
I was thinking just that. I hope that I am as fit and able when I am his age
I only wish that I was as robust as Ed. He is quite the outdoorsman and a great addition to the portfolio of big lovable personalities.
