    • Shankly came up to Stein after the '67 final and said, "John, you're immortal." And so he is. I support both Liverpool and Rangers, and as much as I also admire Fergie, I wish we'd had Jock Stein in the dugout in Mexico. Anyone who doesn't isn't the full shilling.

  • This is the best interview I've ever seen with Alex Ferguson. The interviewer obviously knows his stuff, gets Fergie's trust and then it just flows. And Ferguson's memory for teams, players and formations even from the early 60s is astonishing.

    • People forget Stein was so far ahead in the game' that he won the European Cup with players that all stayed within a 30 mile radius. They were also all Scottish, and that's not being racist or anything else, it's just a fact. What a way to pass away after "Supper Cooper" put us on the way to another World Cup. The fact Graeme Souness was crying in the dressing room says it all. Legendary Manager whose mantra was without fans there wouldn't be any football. JINKY JOHNSTONE, DAVIE COOPER, TOMMY GEMMELL, SANDY JARDINE, etc, etc, etc!!! You could go on all night mentioning all the other great players that Scotland had back in the 'auld days' n that's without mentioning KING KENNY. THEY ALL IDOLIZED JOCK STEIN, May he rest in peace, as Bill Shankly said of his great friend (" JOCK, YOU ARE IMMORTAL ") W.C. in K.P. - 1968 -

    • Born and raised Scottish Celt here, but my grandad was from Manchester and watched the babes when he was a young man. Scottish football has been marginalised in recent years due to tv money artificially inflating some leagues to the detriment of others. Even today I seen a comment "what's the point of Scottish football?" Stein, Busby, Shanks and Fergie. But tbh, the saddest thing for me isn't that the game is being ruined by money, but the lack of kids I see kicking a ball in the street.
