Facts about this for non-portuguese subscribers: - The song was written by his sister. - His style isn't this. He's a jazz singer which means that he loves to improvise. If you search for this song, except for his performance in Festival da Cançao and Eurovision, he always sings it differently, including in the rehearsals for Eurovision in which he said "I'm sorry to the production, but I was tired of singing the same thing everytime" which made his sis worried in the contest, thinking he would change the song and sing as he pleases xD I recommend you to watch the performance he did in Spain with the piano. That's 100% his style and sounds amazing as well. - In the Eurovision he was really sick. He had a heart problem and had to leave the hospital to attend to the contest, or else, Portugal would have been eliminated. The reason he's wearing those terrible shirts is because he had a lot of machines under to keep his heart working. He was almost dying, but fortunatelly he found a new heart and he's recovering well :) I love how you were silent the entire reaction ahah Well, we expect reactions in reaction videos, but it shows how amazed you were with it. Salvador is a jazz singer, but his voice is very versatile. I have heard him sing hindi music, jazz, punk, opera, and much more! This song, which was written by his sister, was mainly described as a mix between jazz and a Disney song. Thank you for your interest in my beloved country! :D

I really got emotional about it. I'm a portuguese and I'm proud that we got some recognition. Thanks for listening to our song. I think we might be more easy to understand the pronunciation if we compare the different between USA and UK. The language is totally different from portuguese but the differences between the countries are a little alike. Portugal as UK and Brasil as USA. That's maybe more enlightening for people to se differences.
You are both so lovely! I adored your reactions, haha. Salvador Sobral is a jazz singer, hence why he does those expressions. He's used to improvising while singing but since his sister composed Amar Pelo Dois, she asked him not to change it, so he only kept his original expressions.
For a Portuguese is very obvious the Brazilian pronunciation, despite having the same language, Portuguese and Brazilian accents are very different. You need to study more Portuguese, has you increase your level you'll pick up very easily this differences

This song just renders people speechless. Absolutely gorgeous! You should react to more Eurovision! It's fun! The bad songs are just as exciting (and it's mostly why people watch) because you can complain about it and boo in your living room. And sometimes there suddenly are some great songs. I remember the Netherlands a couple of years ago with a great one but they came in second and Italy last year was wonderful (although Portugal was a deserved win!)

I've been thinking on recommending that song to you for a while... But i can't recall if i ever did. Anyway thanks for watching it. The singer is now in the hospital (he needed a heart transplant even before the Eurovision song contest, but now he just had the transplant). You should see the videos of his trainings for the contest. He actually does all kinds of weird things (like immitate a trumpet during the instrumentals). And the versions where he sings with his sister (the one who wrote the song) is amazing.

Salvador Sobral With Amar pelos Dois, in Eurovision song contenst has got the maximum points in ESC History, and anyone since 1954 never has got these points and ranking... however, I have to say that, as a Spaniard, I was so proud and Happy of the winning by Portugal with Salvador Sobral because, they're my Iberian aneighbours and also because, Salvador has studied a lot of years in Barcelona, In Spain, he knows speak roman-latin languajes as matern likes Portuguêse and after Spanish, and below english... in Spain, all people loved too Salvador and her sister, bcause much of spanish people met them and before that they become famous spanish and portuguese people met them... so, this fact was so important in his victory in the final... to me, the best Eurovision song contest in mi life was with Salvador Sobral in 2017 and I think... I'll never, never see the same, because the great, original and good songs and writers will never be repeated! 🇵🇹❤️🇪🇸 viva Portugal e Espanha Viva a Peninsula Iberica! Beijos!
