  • This was a great selection. Thanks for posting. Just a shame that with the funky scheduling back then the Broncos, and Dolphins didn't square off more. As spoiled as I was with Montana, and then Young, I always marveled at Elway and Marino's genetic talent at the position. Simply amazing.

  • Dan Marino reminds me of the Muhammad Ali clip where the GOAT tells a reporter to hold up their hand and he'll hit is six times before they count one-two. Marino flinches his arm and the ball is already forty yards downfield. Best QB in history. No rings, sure. But also no refball in his favor. No rule changes to suit him. Just twenty years ahead of anybody else.

      @bjchit@bjchit7 ай бұрын
    • @@bjchit Think you have it backwards. Elway took Reeves to 3 Super Bowl. And then when Elway had a great coach, he stomped on Reeves antiquated schemes. Reeves was a decent coach. But he was out coached in every Super Bowl and if he didn’t have Elway, he’d been out coached in most playoff games. Every playoff game Reeves coached with Elway was a nail biter. There’s a reason why. He almost destroyed Elway. So yes, I believe I disagree with you. He wasn’t a good coach. He was a decent coach who was lucky to have 7.

      @rkid727@rkid7277 ай бұрын
    • @@rkid727 No, I don't actually. Elway was flat out terrible in most of those playoff games, and no one was beating the NFC in the Super Bowl during most of the 80's and early 90's. There's not a whole lot you can do when your star QB decides to go colorblind in the Super Bowl either. Not every game was a nailbiter, and the only time Reeves had a bad year was when he had Dave Brown as a QB and the Flacons being devastated with injuries. Elway half assing it for a few years (and admittedly not having much help outside of Shannon Sharpe) almost got him benched for Tommy Maddox, not because Reeves was a bad coach.

  • My God, I forgot just how legendary John Elway's arm strength was in his younger days. An arm touched by God called by Dick Enberg, a voice touched by God. The first pass he throws here is a lobbed touch pass...57 yards downfield. And shoutout to Dan Marino. My God, he sees a receiver and that throw is in the air so fast. Two fantastic superstars going at it when I was a four year old Bronco fan. Where I am from in Colorado, you had no choice. And you could rob four banks at 2 p.m. on a Sunday, no problem. The whole town was just not worried about anything else. I quit watching the NFL in 2015 when it made some very bad decisions, but I did not miss a game for 34 years. Not bad. We Bronco fans used to be so jealous of Dan Marino until about 1995 and Mike Shanahan's tenure. We kept screaming, "Why can't they build a team around Elway the way they do with Marino down in Miami?!?! We have John Elway....against 11 players." I have a cousin who, ahem...dated isn't probably the right word, let's say, had a congress with Broncos Tight End Clarence Kay. Funny to see him shaking his hips (probably like he did with her). She was like a rock star at a family party because she'd hooked up with a Bronco. That was how rabid my neighborhood fandom was.

I've seen so many shots of the ball literally a couple inches in front of the defenders diving fingertips,but John could put it about 70 yards down field with some accuracy,BOTH greats,but Dan was always better and it still sticks with me that John got to get back there two more times and five total
