Did YOU agree with the referee's decision?
HELL no
F**K NO
Sometimes it's better to watch ufc than this one championship like they're protecting someone not getting beated
fuck no
This referee should get disqualified! Its ridiculous! The shots were absolutely legal, just below the ear. I can't believe Alvarez got red card.
Dude didnt really wanna fight. He was looking for a way outta there
How can you say that After one minute? Lapicus was landing some hard leg kicks, dont make assumptions.
I agree, took a dive for sure

i hope eddie gets the rematch and smashes iuri. he definitely deserved the punches to the back of his head for turning it away. “defend yourself at all times” not “turn your head away and act to win by dq”
Yes aljo has a friend
will definetely get a rematch like bibiano vs belingon bibiano acted like yuri
Acting when you are hit continuously behind the ear?! Take Alvarez %£$%£ out of your mouth i think thats best what you should do..

Luri started screaming when the ref said something, he wanted a way out
Lol he was screaming during those streaks watch again
Aljamain Sterling made school... It's embarrassing. At least in the main event the right man got his hand raised and DJ took it like the champion he is

Frustrating DQ... Alvarez was looking great.
Looking great? Really? It barely started
@@cannibrel he looked explosive unlike his other fight
How can you say that After 1 minute...
A veteran like that shouldn't risk hitting the back of the head, he could have worked the body.. sloppy mistake by Eddie, but then again not his first
@@cannibrel Eddie had that cry baby dead to rights until the ref saved him lol. That guy was gonna get KOd hard and he knew it, thats why he pulled the whole aljo routine
"Not on the back of the head!" then immediately started his act. What a coward.
So basically his opponent draw a foul so he could win? Wow some fighter he was
aljos brother
@Okiwaga but rather than fight back or look for a way out, Iuri chose instead to present the back of his head. It's almost as if he's baiting the strikes to the back of the head. Then he proceeds to scream his lungs off as if he didn't do it intentionally. Why would he even do that if not to bait the foul?
@@youloveulises you could also say he was hiding the part of his head that was legal to strike therefore Eddie should of advanced position not keep pummelling 🤔 just a thought

It has been done since the days of PRIDE
Why on earth would that be impressive
Lol
@@jlocke5385 thats good indication to spectators regarding of what happening on the ring. I havent see UFC adopted this approach.well done to One championship.
@Mike Evans mate what on earth are you even saying
iuri turned the back of his head when he got hit cleanly so he could get out of the cage. we obviously know who the better fighter is.
The files are in place for a reason. Whether he’s the better fighter is irrelevant. He lost dq. Turning his head in that position is intelligent defence and with Eddie having history for loss of perspective in top position I think it’s a great call.
@@cw6779 you dont turn your head against punches and not expect to be hit in the back of the head. gane vs jds is a good example for that and the ref made a good call on that fight.
I felt Luri Lapicus was doing well on the feet until that takedown
@@gavlmnc5535 you do if your in trouble and it’s part of the rules. That’s why fighters always placed their hands on the floor not to get kicked or kneed in the head.
@@cw6779 you can knee a grounded opponent in the head in one championship.
Come on he put himself in that position by turning his head that way that's a cheap move if you consider they are fighting in a cage and he is just trying to find a way out
Thats the right way to defend yourself on that position. The fighter uses the rules wisely enough to protect himself. Rules are set so no one get killed by some deadly moves.
Wrestlers like Eddie cannot get takedowns without the rule which stops people hitting the back of their heads. The other guy could have easily stopped the takedown with a karare chop to the back of the head but instead followed the rules and lost position. If the opponent breaks the rules u shud let them be disqualified otherwise u get guys like Jon Jones who intentionally eye pokes becoz he knows his opponents have too much pride to quit.
@@Jaibee27 bro what?? Hit em up with that karate chop to the back of the head chief lmao
But allowing knees to a downed opponent is safer?
Absolutely, you can turn your head anyway you want casual...
Neymar is influencing a new bunch of fighters these days. Sterling and Iuri are divers too 🤣😂
Luri was doing the Neymar roll with his head
all this diving has started since sterlings oscar winning performance
As soon as the referee complained so that guy started acting straight away :/ **Let’s make the rematch next month**
no april14 sneak the fight there
Yeah. He took advantage of it like soccer players do to get a foul when they're not really hurt 👍
Guy hit him on the neck; this guy was winning and other guy couldn't handle him!
He doesn't deserve a rematch for quitting
He wasn't even damsged. They can do rematch literally tomorrow. For sake of justice.
Looked legal until Luri turns the back of his head into the punches then instantly cried about it, looked intentional too if I’m honest like he wanted to get a dq win 🤷♂️
What a sad fight for alvarez he looks so conditioned.
Eddie is a dirty fighter, remember what he did to Dustin
@@rwyo83 He's not a dirty fighter, he just gets carried away. I doubt he intentionally cheats
Shocking mma fighters are making quitting to a normal thing dont be in the ring if you cant give the smoke
Depends on the fighter, and even entering that cage is something most people would not be willing to do.
What the hell are you saying? How about this one individual quit
Yes they I understand stepping the cage is a big thing but making yourself look like that just makes you look bad af.
Our great sport is turning into soccer smh
@@Cobra85291 thank u bro
This reminds me of Weidman trying to reach down and touch the floor to make Mousasi's knees illegal. If a fighter tries to game the rules, they shouldn't be protected by them.
Completely agree. This is the only thing that really pisses me off about MMA. Gaming the system. The rules are to protect the athlete, not to be used by the athlete to protect themselves.
@@RedForLife68 the second part of your comment 👍👍👍
@@RedForLife68 there will always be loopholes in rules. Eddie should have paid more attention to what he was doing and his opponent took illegal strikes and played the game. Years ago I remember kongo being in trouble for illegal knees to groin. He wasn't deliberately doing them but surely when he got warned he would have paid more attention to knees but he didn't. My opinion if you aren't hitting the spine, even the part going into skull then i don't see anything wrong but I dont make the rules
I agree that there will always be loopholes. I just wish they wouldn’t game the system. Eddie was clearly in control at that point. Yes he should’ve stopped striking there and changed position, but the fact Iuri was purposefully turning his head and exposing the back of his head is just outright absurd. Almost unsportsmanlike. But whatever it takes to win eh.
Fully agree at this point you're just hurting yourself and if anyone should get a DQ it should be the "fighter" (if you can call these pussies fighters) who tries to cheat his way in W.
Absolutely one of the worst calls ever in the sport of MMA. No question about it. The guy getting punched deliberately turned his head to avoid punishment and still wasn't to the back of the head. Pathetic stoppage, Lapicus got TKO'd as far as I can see.
How much did you lose?
Sorry but blatant back of head. Clear foul.
Where do they find these refs like common seriously, your going to DQ him for 2 punches to the back of the head, you have to step in and stop it before he gets finished.
1 punch. And even that was mostly to the side. The faker started screaming way before that.
It's not the referee's fault if the other guy says he can't continue. What to do?
@@Ta3iapxHs Eddie obviously didn't see where it was hit because of the position his head was turned, if he didnt turn his head he wouldnt have been hit. It wasn't intentional therefore a disqualification shouldnt have happened along with it also being was the first offense. I think the only reason it was a disqualification is because its a tournament, someone has to go forward.
The refree should have warned 1st. The ref didnt even say anything until the stoppage.
He did say 'watch the back of the head' & Alvarez just kept doing the same thing. Once the other guy stopped defending himself, it was too late for a warning
And to salvage his reputation he issued a red card, crappy refereeing,
He warns him but he is blind as a bat as it was ear/neck area. My understanding is that the "back of the head" is a 2inch line starting at the crown of the head following the spine. It was not even close IMO.
Amateur ref, and great acting from Luri, good job, Luri deserve oscar!
There were illegal shots thrown so whats the ref supposed to do if a fighter is stopped by illegal blows

So knees to a grounded opponent are allowed but you're gonna DQ him when the opponent was CLEARLY turning his head into the punches??
If Christian lee did it then it's okay hehehehe
Because Lapicus got knocked out before he had the time to milk it lmao.
Christian Lee got disqualified when he suplexed Edward Kelly. 🤷
Ref was very incompetent. Had no idea how to handle the situation. He should've paused the action, gave a warning, then stood them up.
Get Lapicus an academy award.
Run it back next week.
Iuri ”i will not defend myself at all times” lapicus
You know what's the best thing about this? According to Wikipedia, they both have the same height lol
Its back in the ear.👊
he turned his head away from the punch thats effectively like going to a shooting range jumping infront of the target and then complaining you got shot
@WILLIAMS F1 RACING. luri turns the back of his head towards the punch at the end. Please explain what you saw
It hurts and hit a nerve and he was looking for a way outta there. He found one. There was probably one illegal shot. should still been a W for Eddie
luri starts reacting when the ref starts the warning, clearly he just want his way out.
Eddie lit him up like a Christmas tree lmao
Eddie punches him 4 times.... no response Ref: Don't punch back of the head! Luri suddenly morphs into a soccer player
It’s hard because some of the shots did go to the back of the head so the ref had to make a call (maybe not the right one). I think you have to take into account that this was Luri’s plan in the moment. He wasn’t injured or immobilised in the sense he couldn’t protect the back of his head, he chose to turn the back of his head into the punches to try and make himself not targetable until eddie worked for a new position but Eddie thought they were just far enough forward to be legal and some of them were but some weren’t. It’s not the same as taking a guys back and elbowing the back of his head of flattening him out and hammering the back of the head, it was much more to do with using a rule for defence and it ending in a bad way. I think Eddie wasn’t trying to foul and Luri was trying to be smart and defend himself from head strikes as quickly and easily as possible in that position. The call was made that a foul shot had been given, the recipient of that foul could no longer continue (I see people saying he could but chose not to, I simply don’t know the truth there) so the ref had to say a fight ending injury was caused by a foul and that’s a DQ, I don’t like it but I don’t think the ref had a choice
Well put. While i also hate the "finding a safe position due to ruleset" it was the correct decision.
Well said sir.
watch Christian Lee VS Iuri then, more or less is the same like when Christian Lee finished Iuri, it's even more brutal than this...
Luri learn this acting thing from Aljamain Sterling this guys should get an Oscars Awarsa you know.
@@onimikola I guess it all depends on the ref in the cage also.
One of the commentators sounds like Michael bisping doing a US accent 🤣
Can anyone tell me why the battle was stopped? What was the problem? (I would love for detailed details, thanks.)
According to Big John Mcarthy (who worked on making the unified rules of MMA) the back of the head is the "mohawk" area. This isn't the back of the head. Btw the last shots are closer to the neck and the ear... That dude is faking hard
Exactly. None of these shots are even close to the back. Except the very last one. What a faker.
I'm not even a big fan of Eddie but the other dude just didn't want to be in there and turned himself to cause this to happen. It's no different from grounding yourself in the UFC to either catch a knee and get a DQ or to prevent your opponent from doing it through a technicality
he is a dirty fighter
Another Oscar is required
The last punch was the back of the head lmao
That dude was turning his head so Eddie could only punch in that area
You Can't hit the back of the head, if the Only area You can hit Is the back of the head You have to change position, work with grappling and find a new position where You can hit clean.
Когда насмотрелся боев Стерлинга
That ref did the right thing. 6 strikes on the left side of the head. Warned after 2
And I thought Aljo's acting was bad, this guy took it to a whole nother level.
No difference to what Christian lee did to him
But we didn’t see no dq for Christian
Iuri "Aljamain Sterling" Lapicus
The ref let Eddie continue to hit him without giving him a warning
Lapicus vs sterling. Set it up for the title. Worlds best actor
Both fighters were part of the problem. The opponent for putting himself in that situation and Alvarez taking that risk. I'm not sure how I feel about the call being right or wrong though...
That final strike to the back of the head doesn’t count, if a fighter turns away from an incoming strike and it hits the back of the head, it’s the other guys fault. Eddie wasn’t aiming for the back of his head, he turned away. Those other shots were legal. He just wanted a way out. Aljo 2.0
100% agreed. Try slowing down the play speed to 0.25x. All the shots minus the last one was to the side of the head.
I've waited to watch Alvarez fight for months.danm
I was really looking forward for this fight and this is what I get lol hahahaha
Those shots were connecting to the back of the head, but it obviously wasn't Eddie's intention. His opponent turned his head 90 degrees.
Thats a defensive move just like a guy two hands holding the floor so they wont get a free kick on there head or a knee.
You get one freebie if the guy turns his head while striking after that they are dq-able fouls.
Felt bad for Iuri Lapicus. His last fight ended the same way, him having receiving illegal strikes and the ref considering it a "knockout." A decent fighter who couldn't even get a decent match-up SMH.
Totally agree
Esattamente la stessa cosa era successa nel match titolato contro Lee ma sappiamo come è finito il match..non è un momento fortunato per iuri..
bro hes garbage he got taken down within 20 seconds by eddie alvarez. bit on all the feints nobody falls for. LOL
Somebody needs to make a shirt... "It Was The Ear!"
Lupercus just wanted the pay-check. Great acting! Even had the ref fooled 😂
Блин, обидно за Эдика... В такой прекрасной форме вышел и такое... Как Петя ходил
Eddie should’ve stopped punching when the referee gave him a warning. Sad ending
Eddie was aiming for his ear, side of the head. But Iuri turned his head so the target shifted to the back of the head.
Turning the head to block punches with the back of the head in hopes they stop hitting you is weak.

This fight hurts One big time.

Luri Lapicus is also one of the best actors besides Aljamain .
Won by technical sterling acting submission. That was perfect execution! Must’ve had a crazy acting training camp. His improv definitely got better. His coach must be Brad Pitt or Leo.
The ref said stop, he should stop...
Exactly. Shocking how many idiots that watch MMA. It was CLEARLY at least two illegal punches there.
Eddie won
Yes
the real losers are the viewers who forgot to mute the audio
Luri has to compete against Aljamain Sterling, but not a fight competition it should be theatre
He shouldn’t have turned his head, that was not “defend yourself at all times”, terrible refereeing, please declare as no contest and immediate rematch
Luri was turning his head away so that the only available target to Eddie was that area. Surely there should be a rule against doing that? It's like setting up someone to get DQd.
I like Eddie, but good decision. Ref warned Eddie after 2nd hit but he punched Iuri next 6x into the same place.
Yes watched his last punch
Correct, others are emotional
What kind of fighting is this? So you can actually use it as a tactic to turn your head each time someone punches you in your face so they will hit you in the back of your head instead and then the opponent will lose? 😄
Yeah.... Unfortunately he punches in the back head
Aljamain Sterling acting level
He wasn’t on his front, he was turning his head in to hide his face rather than intelligently defending
This yuri guy is such a coward!
No matter how it ended, Eddie looked great. Took no damage as well, hope he can turn it around fast and get a W.
Can anyone clarify what is “the back of the head”? I’ve heard commentary say behind the ear is safe, so where do we draw that imaginary line to which it becomes the back? If anyone’s aware, please fill me in.
I think like the commentators said that as long as some part of your fist is touching the ear it's fine. Thats why you can hit behind the ear since you will still touch the ear a bit.
The ref screwed up and Lapicus played to the ref because he wanted out because he was beat , Eddie Alvarez WON the fight , give him the win🥇
Another quality show from one fc.

Rip Luri🥺
so who is the winner??
Iuri Lapicus wanted to get out of this fight so bad lol He should join Aljamain Sterling and get into acting instead of fighting.
Yes.
How comes after 3-4 shots the guy didnt grab the back of his head but when the ref shouts not the back of the head then the guy holds his head
Should invent an aljamain sterling belt ...
That was unwise decision by the referee. He ruined everything just for one bad decision. Imagine the fans were disappointed ,the promoters efforts were all ruined. The referee abused his authority he made the most shameful decision in the history of MMA.
Why Cristian lee can did it?
They should consider watching slow motion just like the NBA.
