  • An interesting note on the idea of language tending towards brevity - this is due to the fact that indo-european languages (incl. English) were horrifically complex, and have kind of had nowhere to go but towards simplicity. Many other language families are markedly less complex in comparison, and mandarin, for example, is actively becoming more complex.

  • Nice shout-out to Davidreadsasoiaf. I try to spread the word whenever I can about this channel, those narrations are so good. I find them far superior to the official audiobook and I would be devastated if he deletes his channel. Also its the Reach that has the southern accent and it works perfectly. Then he performs every song in the story as well, with instruments. It's pretty incredible what he did all on his own.

  • One of my favourite additions that are show only was Catelyn talking to Talisa about Jon Snow. I dont know really WHY I like it. I guess it shows that Cat does feel remorse and guilt for how she treated Jon who was objectively entirely blameless for what she believed were her husbands sins. I am not saying Cats feelings arent valid. I like that she is like that, she is a human being after all. It was a well done scene!

    @francescapatti2934@francescapatti293411 ай бұрын
    • Agreed, she recognizes what she has done in how she treated him, but can't just that last hoop to get to acceptance of him. Especially now that Ned is dead, it's likely shes trying to reconcile her feelings about the one son of his she despised. She's lost her two youngest boys and now the only two of Neds sons are Robb and Jon. And I think that scen is her trying to work through those conflicted feelings in her grief. Michelle Fairley's Cat being less hostile towards him I think works in the characters favour. That she knows its not Jons fault she hates him, but it was essier to blame him then Ned.

  • 43:29 Tangent but reading nahsa always reminded me of maas, which is the afrikanner pronunciation of amasi, fermented milk in isizulu, which I am fond of. Used it a lot in baking (I like to substitute it for greek or other thicker yogurts when in America/Europe which makes for a nice alternative that's still tart, but i've also been told buttermilk is similar). I remember people mixing it with milk or mieliepap when I was a child. Most definitely not an intentional parallel, but a fun little conicidence, which to me is what makes writing of all forms so wonderful.

  • I think you could do a pretty decent sashimi out of dragon meat. Like the flesh is still raw, but the dragon’s native body heat defaults high enough that you don’t have to worry about pathogens anywhere outside of Old Valyria. So I think it’d be pretty safe to eat uncooked; probably tough though.
