Some tidbits from the Reddit as of writing: -the Android version of the mobile port was updated a week before the book release, and someone has already put the files on the Reddit and found an image of a brown wall: no such brown wall/building exists in the game -New Harmony has a post office on a corner, it’s a 15 minute drive from Cedar City, is speculated to be where Charlie went to school, and is north of Hurricane City, which is where Silver Eyes took place -most of the FNAF games have likely taken place in Utah due to the location of the lawsuits -the ARG may have been cut because of the pandemic

The fact that they are described as "scrapped stories" is really suspicious to me. As MatPat said, it's weird that they would be "scrapped", but still appear like normal. My first thought is that the books actually exist in the fnaf universe. I'm not saying that the stories are canon, but that the books themselves exist in the fnaf universe. Perhaps the stories from book 12 were things that Fazbear Entertainment didn't want the public thinking about. I don't know how plausible this idea is, but it might be worth considering.

As a big ol' nerd I have to say the weird lore mysteries is what has me caring about any of this. Most hidden stuff in most things is so surface level that it's found in minutes, but FNAF has a legion of dorks going for years.

I think the reason why we're being stumped like this when it comes to FNAF was the fact that SB was delayed waaay too much that the books came out first. It may not seem much, but considering our thought processes during this whole shabang was we have the current new evidence (the games as they are released, or in much simpler terms piece 1) and from there pieces 2-nth would be given to us as we progress. But with SB, we were given Piece 2, not Piece 1, and that simple change in our formula was rocked so much that it's hard to see perspectives to create a coherent theory to piece things up Added the fact that the lore is quite dodgy and at times really obscure didn't help our confusion either But yeah, that's my take on this lmao

You've perfectly put into words my feelings on the subject. I like FNAF being this weird crazy thing that doesn't make too much sense, because the main story's no longer the important thing anymore. It's the community- always has been. The music, the art, animations, Analog Horror series; it feels like we're really part of something, and FNAF's just the medium for that energy. We know too much, we've been here too long, we're in it for the long haul.

I read Felix The Shark awhile ago and I remember the “flowers and butterflies” drawings very oddly dropped in the story. Like what was the point? However after digging in my FNAF notes journal (yes I have one, I’m a nerd) I saw that I noted Vanessa from Security Breach liked flowers from the cassettes. This may be a meaningless dead end but it was odd to me that both of these pieces of FNAF media mention “flowers” and the book written in Felix The Shark was written by the daughter of someone connected to Freddy Fazbear’s. I know it’s a stretch but could this be hinting to Vanessa being one of the children or at the very least connected to Henry/William? Just something to think about.

I have a short theory. (I don’t know if anyone said anything already) Have you ever realized that Sun is like Freddy in ways? They have emotions and fears. Moon on the other hand is corrupted by Glitchtrap. We know from the Leaving ending that there are missing children from the Pizza Plex in Security Breach. What if two of the kids were twins? Maybe put into Sun and Moon?

Hey I know I'm late but I had to tell someone this. I didn't find a theatre by the Utah post office. However, I did find a few old buildings around it. Looks like they've been abandoned. I also did find a building that is LITTERLY called *MEGAPLEX* that is a bit far from the post office and it is indeed a theatre.

The main thing that’s bothering me more than anything about this ARG is what’s the end point. Every ARG has a clear ending you’ve got to figure out. The Wilbur ARG was all about figuring out what Wilbur did. The Bill Cypher Hunt that Matt Pat mentioned in this video was all about finding Bill. So here’s my question what is the ARG about? What are we looking for? Is there anything even hinting towards an ARG outside of this book? Right now it feels like a scraped ARG, which is why this story was scrapped originally.

The entire Cypher Hunt’s final clue was in the original photo depicting the Cypher Hunt began. Wilbur started off saying he did something wrong and was on the run. “FNAF’s ARG” started with animatronic Shark and what does that solve for the lore.

I just want to say, after all the book deaths that were always 'turn into plushie', 'get possesed', 'stuffed in suit' it is refreshing to get a story, where the protag has a 'normal' death. Just, eaten by shark... it is a robo shark... but still shark...

I dont know if you have already found this, nor if it is decor, but in some of the books next to the chapter title and first letter of the chapter there are some SMALL and I mean SMALL random letters, and me and my friend found foot prints, a ghost ( We think) And something else, on the pages VERY faded, we tryed so hard to see if it was decor or not, we got SO tired of looked back and forth in the books, I think it had to do with Elizabeth, Michael, and the crying child. FNaF having a IRL ARG would honestly be perfect for this series. One of the oldest rumors/hoaxed was the photoshopped real life Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Speaking of that location, anyone know where the actual building is? Seems like it would be a great place to hide some sort of clue for anyone who’s been following this series from the beginning Edit: after seeing some thoughts on this theory on both the FNaF and Game Theory subreddit this doesn’t seem like the best idea. Made the Gravity Falls connection to, I love how the theme of the finale was to go out into the world and explore and discover and the thing right after the show was literally to do just that! I feel an overwelming sense of nostalgia hearing you talk about Gravity Falls. The Cipher Hunt was my first encounter with ARGs and truly inspired my love for them. I think... Oh no... I think... you've convinced me to finally read the fnaf books so I can join in on the clue search O_O

Anyone else remember when MatPat said "wait until Scott adds a shark animatronic" or something close to that or is it just me?
Take a closer look at book 1 and book 12 + 11. See how strongly those 3 relate compared to the rest. I found something, though I’m not revealing what it is until someone else notices it. (Hint- The characters themselves aren’t what I’m referencing. Like, at all. This might not make sense. I’d say that only an English reference professional or whatever you call them might notice it.)

I think Matt Pat is on the right track when he mentions the Gravity Falls hunt. When the books came out and had all of this random stuff, nobody understood. But once it was explained that is was a treasure hunt, the clues made sense. I think this is EXACTLY what Scott and Steel Wools Studios are doing, and they know it.
Maybe once the new DLC for Security Breach comes out there will be something?

The geometric design on the back of that Chica coloring page interests me. All the other pages have more simple backgrounds from what I've seen. Has anyone tried to map it out in a program to see it if can create something? i doubt its nothing but its worth a shot

Dear matpat, have a theory about golden Freddy, in the first fnaf game, and how I think that he may be phone guy. Now before you think that this comment is crazy I would like you to read this entire comment and think about it long and hard. Like how you compared the fnaf missing children's incident to the Chucky cheese shooting incident that took place in 1993 and how you compared Golden Freddy to Bobby. I think that what is in golden Freddy's, suit is phone guy, because like he suggested to you, he went limp. and the small white dots in golden Freddy's eye's are the whits parts in phone guy's eye's. Just like Bobby, phone guy survived, and the "it's me" is him telling you that "It's me, phone guy" and he is the only one that does not give you the death screen he crashes the game in stead he crashes your game as if saying "save your self while you still can." OH MY GOD OH MY GOD- GUYS LISTEN I MIGHT’VE FOUND SOMETHING NEW- As he says while reviewing prankster clues, “Give me some and I’ll make more”, made me think of the faz-goo. The one about “light” in the prankster clues could reference the one story where they boy gets stuck in a Freddy toy in a dark dumpster. I think those clues refer to previous stories. We might be getting brought back to the first book.
I'm kind of dissapointed with how the fnaf lore has been treated lately. It seems so impossible to solve and every new game answers questions but leaves an unfair amount of plot holes that will never be solved until you wait for the next game release. It's unsatisfying if you're this stumped with this many mysteries.

Coming back from some more recent fnaf videos, the "even more frights" might have been a reference to the occasional voice lines of the Mediocre Melodies, trying to tell you that there are more jumpscares to find than just the regular one for them
For the colouring books.... Did you try colouring it? I mean there are techniques to make certain lines visible only by hatching with a pencil over it... Just an idea since you didnt mention doing that.

It's possible Scott planned for the ARG to launch in early 2020 but had to scrap it after the 'Rona hit. To my knowledge, worldwide quarantine and treasure hunts aren't really sympatico.

and that would kind of help explain why these stories are being released now that the pandemic appears to be finally winding down in most parts of the world. Maybe there's a plan to set up the rest of the treasure hunt sometime soon if it hasn't been done already

It feels like they are hinting to another character to be introduced. Because Those quotes you mentioned at 11:40 seems like they are more directly connected to an character rather then the story's plot line. To which character i can only guess Glamrock Bonnie or one of the afton kids. It just seems like these games are surrounded by the children rather grown up or not. Plus from what heard about the books its also includes more kids both alive and dead.
The colouring books make me wonder how you could hide something within the pages. An idea I had was perhaps there are white plastic lines within where you colour in on the paper and when you do it reveals something. Either that or you need to colour in exactly where the lines are and it reveals something that way. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if what's revealed is what appears to be some weird letters which make sense when looked at in a mirror. You would have to feel on each page to check if I'm onto something, but it's all I got right now.

Dear MatPat, have you considered trying symbolism? The clues such as “Give me One, And I’ll make more” and “Follow the light to make things right” sounds more like an order for theorists than riddles to solve. I believe we need to take a different approach and actually map out the entire book series based on where and when each stories take place.
Like how the game theorist from the 12 issue, she investigated Fnaf3 and discovered the location and found a dead body. Probably the answer is quite obvious but we aren’t seeing it from the right angle. The author for the dog whatever the book she wrote gave the protagonist the key that lead to another key that led to Felix the shark. Maybe we aren’t supposed to find the destiny but rather the path towards it.
I was planning on re-reading the book series and marking down the characters and places of the story’s, might start doing that now because we need to figure this out
In one of the books you' ve read was, that a BOY WITH AN ALIGATOR MASK was torturing Wiliam Afton (the one that went to hell). Now, there' s some conflict between glam rock bonny and MORTY (AN ALIGATOR). I don' t think Scot would tell us about an aligator mask (it was unnecessary so far) for no reason.
