It’s time we reevaluate our expectations of Ben Simmons - Shannon Sharpe | NBA | UNDISPUTED

Ben Simmons is still taking a lot of heat for passing up a late dunk in Philadelphia 76ers' Game 7 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. He was also an all-time worst in the playoffs at 34 percent free throw shooting of someone with at least 70 attempts. Doc Rivers feels confident that this will be the offseason that Simmons can finally improve his shooting. The 76ers coach told reporters quote, 'I believe, without going into detail with what we're doing, I believe we know what the right work is, and the right type of work, and the right way to do it.' Hear what Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe have to say about Ben Simmons and his performance in Round 2.

    • Exactly. Draymond would have certain games where he would explode on the offensive end of the floor by making threes and other jump shots (look at certain finals games where he’d go crazy which is why it was so hard to beat GSW beacuse they’d always have an unexpected contribution) . Ben, if it’s not a layup then it’s nothing. And NOW he won’t even attempt that. It’s crazy because in high school and college Ben would shoot and makes jump shots, naw you can’t even pay him (literally) to take a shot, EVEN THO he practices them before games lol Also Giannis is not more athletic than Ben. As you can see, Ben is a great one on one defender, even if small guards. Giannis has none of Bens lateral movement which is why they didn’t put him on KD because that much because Giannis woulda fouled outta every game. Giannis is not a good one on one defender, he lacks lateral movement (which is also why he has no offensive moves), y’all gotta stop letting these DPOY awards trick y’all into thinking that They can guard any/every person (Gobert and Giannis just showed you that).

At that point, Ben Simmons was playing 30min and he is no threat at all in offense except passing. Learn how to draw from the card and let others have the opportunity to grow. Ty Lue drew Mann, Nate's Huerter... Head Coach brings decision and motivation, Ty Lue did that with Clippers which Doc Rivers utterly failed to do so. That's just my take.

  • Ben Simmons biggest issue is his cockyness. He's so scared about failure that he prefers to pass the ball even when he can do it all by himself. With Embiid he didn't feel to be equally accountable,he let Joel go forward in front of him. Philly tried to give him a shot doctor since year one, but he preferred to work with his brother and that's the result. He wants to do his way, but like that he let the team down when matter the most. If he doesn't show some humility and seek some real help then he better go.

Sometimes he’s a high post facilitator(kinda like jokic), other times he’s a drive and kick out facilitator, and then other games he just moves around the perimeter and tries to find cutters. Ben Simmons just doesn’t play championship basketball, only using a drive and kick out play style won’t ever win a championship.
