Many people have been sharing photos which are supposedly from Gaza. Some of these photos have been shared thousands of times. In this video, we explain why we should not share them and why sharing them could be bad for the Palestinian cause.

If you change the title of the video to something about AI generated Palestine images, I feel like you'll get more views. The way the title is written is a bit click-baity. Almost didn't watch because of it

Or just call them doctored images? Fake images? AI is a term being bandied about a lot at the moment and used for things we already have words for. I know that I don't entirely know what people always mean when they use it as an expression and neither do a lot of people I know! It's certainly a very disturbing phenomenon that needs to be brought to the attention of a much wider audience! Of course the question that always needs to be asked is 'who benefits from something like this?' who would do something as bizarre as this,who would go to all that trouble and then leave six fingers on a hand so that it's obviously a fake and then discredited???? It certainly isn't anyone who supports the Palestinians is it?
Please be wary too. I saw a video where one guy was photographed/video by his photographer friend showing him giving food to a young boy with his hands reaching out. After the shot was taken, the guy closed the lid of the container and didn't give the boy any food and walked away. The look of confusion on the boy made me cry. 😢 Shame on those two guys for their fake charity. Thanks for whoever exposes the scam. Sadly, there's no userid to identify the fakers.

I got fooled by these photos too...but the real situation is worse...May Allah SWT protect the people of Gaza...aameen.

💯 DO NOT GO NEAR AI images. If i see them on fb or wherever, i block or scroll past
How can you tell? Unless it's done badly? These are SO bad... it's almost like someone did that on purpose 🤔 but we are surrounded by doctored images, all the time.
It's hard for the untrained eye to recognise AI art. I always thought it was a terrible and dangerous idea. Also look at the shadows, are they going in the same direction as the light? Also the shadows on AI art are always too dark on the faces of people. Depth of field, does the background look too blurry, far away, out of focus in a weird way. Are there any strange "afterimages" in the background? I saw an AI pic once with some weird ghostly legs floating around in the background. Are the people posed dramatically? As in a way you would see in a magazine or movie poster but not in reality. Also does the content match what you know? For instance in the picture of two boys laying on the floor of a tent, that's not the type of tents aid agencies are giving out. Oh and always count the fingers.
These are all good tips, but they're tips for badly done pictures. We've had Photoshop for decades! Since photography began photographers have been doctoring or just plain faking the images. Some are easy to spot... some,if not most professionally done,we accept on face value. I've already made a long post on my thoughts about sharing these images to start with. But if we do? We absolutely should be trying to verify them. And the people taking them should have permission. This is a conversation that should be held in a much bigger sphere. The internet has totally changed the meaning of privacy and respect. Surveillance is part of that. We need to think as Muslims where we should be standing on these issues.

Like old Syrian video, of people being killed while blindfolded and thrown in a mass grave. They’re incorrectly labeling Israel killing Palestinians. It’s horrendous, but we must correct it, don’t want them saying we’re spreading propaganda. That’s their job!
Some people can fake images like this and ask for “donation” online, idk how they don’t fear Allah by doing that, so just be careful who you give your money to! 🙏

Palestine deserves to be free, regardless of the images generated, the reality is certainly much uglier and more difficult. All those years of occupation, apartheid, killing, and now this genocide, no picture can show! The human mind cannot even comprehend that. I wish the children of Palestine to spend the rest of their childhood in peace and well-being, and for their families to finally be freed from the shackles of Israel.

I had thought the boys sleeping in the mud was a fake, because of the strange, unreal texture and colors and too because the situation itself seemed impossible ... you always find sthg, anything, to put under your body, children alone etc What distorted idea to create such images !

To be honest, I feel really uncomfortable with all images being shared. There was a time before everyone had a camera in their hands when we never had pictures of the deceased in news reports. It was considered really disrespectful and distressing for the family and viewers in general. Even critically injured would not be shown.who wants a camera shoved at them at such a time, recorded for posterity and shown around the world. With the internet no-one has any control over these images, whether they're doctored like you highlight here or have offensive titles and comments attached? There was an image of a father holding his young,dead daughter who'd been pulled from the rubble in Iraq that 'did the rounds' for several years. I have no idea who they were, where it happened or who took the photograph. Everyone I asked who was holding the photograph, whether they'd made a placard or a cardboard coffin,they didn't know either. The agony on that father's face is still very clear in my mind twenty years later. He probably wasn't even aware that someone took that picture in his distress. Did anyone ask his permission? Is that how he wanted his daughter remembered? Were they even father and daughter? In the modern world, where violence is entertainment for the youngest of children and those who have grown up inured to suffering these images are not shocking. But they should be. They should stop us in our tracks and haunt us in our dreams. For their sake,our children's sake and our own, personally I think we should stop sharing them all. We know what the news means. We don't need to see the gory details of the terrible suffering of others and if we do? Then maybe we need to get some psychological help ourselves.i wouldn't want my dead children paraded for the world to ignore. An image lost in thousands of others, endlessly being reprinted and represented. Then misrepresented. Of course we desperately want to shake the world into caring about what's happening, but is this really the way to do it. Again, during the invasion of Iraq someone sent me a picture of an ice-cream laying on dusty tarmac... and a piece of blooded flesh that was said to be all that was left of the child who'd been eating it. I still have nightmares about that. You didn't need to see it to imagine a horrible picture in your mind did you?
The Palestinians I'm sure, don't want people seeing them in those situations but they are doing it in the hope the world does something about it but sadly, they are not doing anything to help them
