Nirvana - Paper Cuts (Guitar Cover)

Kurt Cobain bios overflow with stories of how much he idolized the Melvins, and few songs telegraph that love more than the punishing, titanic "Paper Cuts." Nirvana drafted then-and-current Melvins drummer Dale Crover to fill in on a 10-song demo while both bands recovered from lineup implosions; three songs from that demo ultimately ended up on Bleach after failed attempts to rerecord them with Chad Channing. "Paper Cuts" bears Crover's influence the most, infused with his trademark, stop-start concrete thud. The lyrics - inspired by an Aberdeen family who imprisoned their children in a blacked-out room - touch on the suburban atrocities that Cobain would revisit in songs like "Polly," but the band was never this heavy again.
Tuning: Half Step Down.
Equipment used: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar, Boss DS-1 and Fender Mustang IV amp.
Lyrics: At my feeding time
She'd push food through the door
I crawl towards the crack of light
Sometimes I can't find my way
Newspapers spread around
Soaking all that they can
A cleaning is due again
A good hosing down
The lady whom I feel maternal love for
Cannot look me in the eyes
But I see hers and they are blue
And they cock and twitch and masturbate
Why?
I said so
I said so
I said so

Nirvana
Black windows of paint
I scratch with my nails
I see others just like me
Why do they not try to escape?
They bring out the older ones
They point at my way
They come with their flashing lights
And take my family away
And very later I have learned to
Accept some friends of ridicule
My whole existence is for your amusement
And that is why I'm here with you
To take
Me with
Your life

  • Where does his feedback come from? Immediately before the chorus, I've heard it was some type of harmonics, but always assumed it was just natural feedback from the amp that just sounded the way it did.

    @t_mac41603@t_mac416033 жыл бұрын
    • Try making harmonics in the 3rd fret, with dist obviously, without it there is no sound, that works for me when i want to do feedback Kurt used a Fender Twin Reverb, a Univox Hi Flier and a DS1 for this song, maybe it's the amp itself with the volume in max

    • You realise that's the Kurt Cobain signature Jag ? Literally set up/modded identically to what he actually used. And he played his Jag on In Utero so it would match that album more so than Nevermind. Also Kurt always played Fenders so it's not a surprise people try to get that tone and don't use lea Pauls for example.
