This succulent pillow looks well with the eco-friendly home style. This DIY room decor item consists of four layers: 1) Large leaves - 7pcs; 2) medium leaves - 7 pcs; 3) small leaves - 5 pcs; 4) the smallest leaf - 1 pc. Cut out such leaves from fabric (I use wellsoft 1.20 meters X 1.50 meters), put the filler inside (I use a thick synthetic winterizer 300 g / sq.m. 1.5 meters X 1.0 meters, taking into account the scraps, it turned out about 400 grams of filler). Sew all finished leaves together without creating gaps.
All leaves are 23 cm long, bottom width: 1 level - 19 cm, 2 level - 16.5 cm, 3 level 15 cm, 4 level - 12 cm, 5 level - 8 cm. Measurements INCLUDES 1 cm allowances along the contour. My pillow turned out to be quite large 55 cm in diameter. Lay the layers on top of each other like steps (the top layer overhangs the bottom a little) and sew in convenient places.

I am going to try this project! For my fellow Americans (we are shamefully lacking in metric system and our fabric is sold in yards), I did the math and I that would be 1 1/3 yard of 58" wide fleece for each succulent cushion (I think I will get 1 1/2 yards to be on safe side to account for waste). The batting would be a thick one - like Poly-fil Ultra Weight, which is 10 ounces/square yard. It looks like she used 3 layers of batting per leaf. The brand I mentioned is 48 inches wide, so one should need approximately 5 yards of the batting if all of the leaves are triple stuffed like that. I have read that if you put your batting in the dryer with a damp washcloth on low/no heat for 10-20 minutes it really helps fluff it up and you may be able to use fewer layers and purchase fewer yards. I don't think I would use loose fill/stuffing on this project because the leaves will get lumpy. I like the more realistic flat-leaf look the batting gives too. So cute!
And to add to conversions below, each leaf is approximately 9 inches in length and bottom widths are approxi 7.5 inches (7 leaves), 6.5 inches (7 leaves), 6 inches (5 leaves), 4.75 inches (3 leaves), 3 1/8 inch (3 inches is probably good enough) for the center leaf. I noticed the instructions say 4 layers at top but then gives dimensions for 5 layers and video definitely shows 5 with the center leaf included. :)

Awesome tutorial, thank you! I am battling with finishing the back, mine looked horrible. Did you make a round cushion and sew it in?
I planned to hide the ugly bottom with an extra piece of fabric (you can also add filler), but I didn’t finish this project
Wow!!!

How much fabric in total did you use so I know how much I need to buy
I used wellsoft 1.20 meters X 1.50 meters (4 ft x 5 ft) considering the direction of the pile. Look at the commentary to this video from the user "galaxydrug", he/she writes that she used 1 m x 1.5 m, because she did not take into account the direction of the pile (also she made patterns).
Where did you get the leaf template? Could you post a link? Thanks
Hi! I drew it myself. See dimensions in description
When you wash it does the foam change?
Sorry, I haven't washed it yet
is this particular type of fabric expensive?
depends on the manufacturer and quality: $7-$15 for 1 meter x 1,5 meter (39 in x 59 in). Use wellsoft / fleece / blanket fabric
hi your pillow has 5 layers - the last is smallest leaf but it's 5 layer. Can you write long of leaf from the top to the bottom each layers please
Hello! My pattern is not perfect :) All leaves are 23 cm long, bottom width: 1 level - 19 cm, 2 level - 16.5 cm, 3 level 15 cm, 4 level - 12 cm, 5 level - 8 cm. Measurements INCLUDES 1 cm allowances along the contour. My pillow turned out to be quite large 55 cm in diameter. Lay the layers on top of each other like steps (the top layer overhangs the bottom a little) and sew in convenient places.

I wish there was more instruction on how to see the inner layers of leaves. I managed to make one, but there’s basically just thread going everywhere on the inside with little rhyme or reason lol
Hello, you are right that the instructions are not very detailed. I sewed this pillow for the first time and I did not have an exact plan, I came up with each new step right while sewing the pillow. Unfortunately, I do not have instructions in exactly what places to sew the leaves, try on the leaves every time to make it look good, and sew tightly in those points where possible. As far as I remember: In the first three large layers, I first sewed the leaves in a circle (with the sides and/or corners to each other, so that they fold correctly in a circle), then I applied the next layer to the previous one (while the next layer moves a little inward) and sewed in those places , where possible, pulling the layers together with a thread. In the next two layers, I just tried on the leaves to the pillow to make it look good, and sew where possible. As a result, the layers should completely cover the middle. For this you may need more or fewer leaves than me.
Lo hare
pattern???
sorry, I don't have a ready-made pattern
