      Deathon DeathDeathon Death Жыл бұрын
    • @Deathon Death I doubt it works as well as he showed though. It seems that it'll often just bounce off the wood rather than split it. There'll also be much less pressure and thus much less cutting power at the contact points. I bet only one in 10 pieces will split the way he showed. But I could be wrong.

  • I love when people say it's "DIY" and then whip out a bunch of fancy expensive tools

    Badass SeabassBadass Seabass11 ай бұрын
    • Well yes it doesn't matter if what you have is fancy or expensive, diy stands for do it yourself. Just because people do it there self doesn't mean they have to use shit tools...... the factories that make alot of things that are diy use way more expensive nicer tools regardless of the quality of the product. Some people diy without help and because there professionals they make a nicer product than they did at there job where they make the same product all with lesser tools.

Drilled my three holes - worked like a charm - and put it on the shelf for probably 10+ years before I needed a hammer drill again. I usually buy good tools but if I absolutely don't need it to last? HF for the win!

    • Is an axe even tempered though? I figured for an axe you'd not really need that and untempered might be better. By tempering you'd mainly make the metal more flexible. And while for blades that would be usefull, for an axe I'm not so sure.

      Xander WuskyXander Wusky11 ай бұрын
    • @Xander Wusky tempering just naturalises the grains in the steel after it has been quenched to increase the hardness of the material. You could theoretically do an axe this way if you want to really get a good cutting edge on it. But for wood cutting you’d lose that edge very quickly in any way

      ZhuLeeDTTZhuLeeDTT Жыл бұрын
    • @ZhuLeeDTT you can see the heel/beard of the head is not as flat as the top originally, when it was installed upside-down the top of the axe dramatically sticks up. The biggest issue is that the handle will never be seated right. The eye of the axe is taperd so that it is larger on top allowing for the handle to swell and lock in.
