I think Vondrousova should be included into the list as well, she is a Slam finalist and OG silver medailist, which is more than most of the players on the list, and she is still quite young and it's even more impressive when you realise she barely plays cause she's injured all the time

100% agree with Cîrstea, she got very unlucky that she was playing her best tennis in 12/13 when the tour was stacked, if she played like that today, before all her injuries she would had been a consistent top 20, maybe top 10 player
Muchova is one of my favourite players 🥹 she’s been having such tough draws since her returns and still managed to win against Osaka, Sakkari, could’ve probably taken down Anisimova but injured herself. I just hope she is healthy, sooo fun to watch and different from the rest

It’s true! Even Serena said that Kuznetsova is one of the most underrated players in her mind. Su Wei is also underrated too
But kuznetsova won 2 GS titles! Which is definetely enough for a player to not be considered an underrated player anymore!

Sevastova is another that comes to mind that no one has mentioned. Undersized but extremely crafty and athletic. At its best, her forehand is also one of the best on tour
I feel like Zvonareva's temperament made her difficult to cheer for, and therefore F-F-SF in three consecutive Slams in a very competitive 2010-11 didn't receive enough discussion. Never the biggest hitter of the ball. Five-time doubles and mixed Slam champion too, spread across three decades. Safina has to be the most underrated #1 of all time.
@Sean Gates Vera is an unsung hero. Her uptight demeanor made her fly under the radar despite her achievements during a very competitive era. But certainly doesn't take away anything from her talent.
Zvonavera had one of the best backhand winners, but she had weak mental strength. She gave up easily, cried, got rattled by her opponents easily. I’m so sorry that she didn’t win any majors, but just can’t with physical abilities and sharp shooting skills.

So happy to see some love for Kuznetsova. Her style looks a bit like Iga's, or rather Iga reminds me a bit of Kuzzy - heavy topspin, good all-around game and has all the shots, hi tennis IQ, but also has firepower. I also agree with Pavs and Anisimova on the list. Amanda is only 20 and has a lot of potential. I think the challenge with all these players is not skill but consistency. Is it just me or does Julia Goerges' forehand look a bit like Medvedev's??? It's a very eccentic-looking shot.
Elise's 17 consecutive Grand Slam 3R is so underrated.
I would add Lucie Safarova to the list.

All of them are such talented players, and each one of them is very unassuming in their personalities. Very likeable.
YES ELISE MERTENS! She has got to atleast the 3rd round in every grand slam since US OPEN 2017. Mostly getting to the 4th Round and Quarters and even a SF. that such amazing consistency and she is the #1 doubles player in the world!
From whatever I've seen of her, she's also very kind. No tantrums or starry airs.
There was one point her matches always happened to be streamed and I was watching her all the time. Haven’t seen her in more than a year now, I almost thought she’s dropped out of top 50 but she hasn’t, really strange how she’s never on my streams anymore lol

alexandrova is so underrated, she is just too inconsistent, shes starting to look better and is incredibly dangerous, hopefully she can keep it up

Just for a throwback - Alicia Molik (now Australia's Fed Cup Captain) and Anna Chakvetadze were underrated, both former top 10 players who won big titles (and Alicia won bronze in Athens). Sad how their careers were ruined by illness / injury.
Kenin is extremely underrated. She's one of the best players to come out the last generation of Osaka, Ostapenko, Andreescu, Barty.
Umm, How is she underrated? She won two grand slams, if anything she's overrated now.

She was slam champion but didn't get that much hype because of Serena, Venus, Sharapova, Radwanska etc. players. In this fact, she is underrated.
@@Raj...01234 I remember her having more hype than radwanska myself, if anything radwanska was underrated between those two. It’s the same as saying ivanovic was underrated. With the hype she generated along with kuznetsova, I felt they were both a bit overrated myself as they constantly crashed out of majors.

People forget that Anisimova was so close to win French Open 3 years ago. Tough 3 set loss to Barty in the semifinal. She would certainly beat Vondrusova in the final.
Exactly! That semifinal was SO close. That would have been an extremely nervy final if it had been Anisimova/Vondrousova.
I got a lot of flak when I posted comments during this year's RG stating how under-rated Amanda is. People didn't want to acknowledge that she's the only one who could've rattled Swiatek on clay. God Bless them.

@@acetennis1047 Anisimova is very strong on clay. She would've put up a fight against Swiatek had they met. That's why I said she's the only one who could've rattled Swiatek on clay. I'm aware they are yet to play against each other.

Kuznetsova is a double slam legend and I don't think she belongs in this list

I would say Jil Teichmann, Daria Kasatkina and Qinwen Zheng. The last one is a diamond in the rough

I kinda feel like Mertens had an especially good day against Kenin that time, most of the time her play seems quite passive and her serve is attackable. Granted I haven’t watched much tennis from before 2019 and I know she’s been around since then too
Totally agree with Alexandrova and Muchova but I feel like Zheng should’ve been in this list and potentially Fruhvirtova rather than Anisimova or Cirstea

Most definitely kuznetsova. I'm a 50-50 with wang qiang. If only she kept her 2018 form.
kuz is probably more underachieved than underrated.
Kuznetsova has an amazing Asian style and cadence to her play, Like a mix of karate and drunken master kung-fu.
Kuznetskva has everything but her mentality. She often broke down at crucial moments, which is such a shame! She's a very complete player with a lot of weapons! Ever Roger applauded her if I recall correctly.
Watched Anisimova's match against #3 Pliskova at the US Open last fall and she lost in the time-breaker, so yeah, she has it...if she wants it. Lately though just seems like she's not focused whatever or particularly needs to really put together some sort of conditioning program to make use of that tall frame. so yeah, if "underrated" means she has a much higher ceiling...if she wants it then yes, she's underrated.
Alexandrova is one of the best servers right now even tho she isn't that tall.

She is still 5 10' thats pretty tall, her serve has a whiplash like effect, thunderous
well i would say its been now many years in women tennis u can see a lot o those "underrated" tennis (mostly finishing with "a" ). nothing agaisnt that of course but the very tough parts in sport is not to make a couple of good tournament and then disappear u will see the top top player do it regularly thats a huge difference ...
Few people know, but our beloved Anna Chakvetadze is commenting on tennis at Eurosport Russia, and you can often hear her on this channel
Mertens would get way further in GS tournaments if only she would focus on singles. Only extremely physically strong players (like the Williams sisters) could manage to top both tournaments.
Playing doubles is a great way to improve your singles game. But the Williams sisters are too old to risk playing doubles too, they injure too easily and need to play as few matches as possible.
She’s gotten past the 3rd Round in every slam for 4 striaght years now. including mostly R4, some QF, and SF. yeah i think she could maybe go further, but she had good slam results

Sveta won 2 grand slam, spent lot of time in top 10 -she is one of greatest of her era
of course kuznetsova, looked how the russian treated her when she won 2 grand slam and looked how they did the same with Myskina and Sharapova, plus she along with Li Na is the most deserving to be no1 for me.

Anisimova is highly underrated. Kuznetsiva has won grandslams, I do not think anyone underrates her.

Unlike a lot of the other counterpunches, Anisimova can also generate huge power herself as well. Just needs to keep improving mentally

Underrated players are those who on paper should be top 10 material but their mentality has them lower - in this video most are stuck outside the top 20
I do not think these players are being underestimated by their opponents. It is the so called fan boys and girls who in blind addoration maybe underestimate the not well known opponent of their fan subject...

ok but julia gorges already retired... and anisimova is so not underrated she does interviews all the time... she is so media friendly in terms of interviews... she is popular enough to be considered a semi star... if she were to walk down the streets in miami... i am sure 2 out of 10 people would recognize her. if anyone of us were to walk down the streets.. 0/10 to 1/10.... lol... top 10 stars higher. or most popular ones like... badosa halep osaka

Besides Muchova I don't think that any of these players are underrated, inconsistent, but not underrated.
I don't think Su-Wei Hsieh or Anisimova are underrated. But perhaps it lacks an expressive title for them. Four of these ten are Russian, is that a coincidence? Anyway I love all.
Su-Wei and Anisimova don't get as much mileage as others with far less talent do. Perhaps, it has something to do with their mellow personalities.

I was really disappointed with number one who's nuts about she's want two grand slams I mean people have think she's underrated I mean what the f*** none of the other girls have you been come close to finals it will probably change over you know she's been to a final but you know where it's public control but I don't understand it's mainly these girls that are underrated they just can't win the big ones you know the big point that gets into the big mad so they can win the big title
