    • Keenan Cornelius Спасибо. Очень познавательно. В последнее время стал блокировать и также атаковать более сильных напарников используя подол куртки. Был удивлён что им было трудно меня атаковать, а мне наоборот легко их контратаковать .

  • Awesome video. Any techniques you can recommend to escape from the bottom if your opponent gets this grip? Like frame his hip with your right hand while keeping your elbow in and try to break the grip? Or just try to survive the attacks until he moves on? (forgive my white belt ignorance please)

  • Hey Keenan, I like this technique because the control seems good. Except I love hitting baseball chokes from bottom and you leave your neck super exposed in this. How do you stop someone who gets a thumb in grip behind your collar and going for the baseball choke?

  • Why would someone give that underhook up and turn to give their back, id leave the underhook and the second he locks grips up grab under the thigh and try and toss

    • typically when I have hit my version of this, I've either turned them up a bit on my own (often times from coming to side control after gaining control of an arm from North/South) or I start messing with their far arm and that fact of you not being super heavy on them makes them feel like they can turn without a real risk of giving up their back because they don't realize they can't get away, then I slide my knee behind their head so they can't get back flat (like I said my version is a bit different) and get the grip. I have succeeded with the grip at the shoulder if I couldn't get in the lapel but I am often told I have Gorilla Grips. Tho personally I feel my grips are a weakness

  • I cant stand gi only moves. As a matter of fact, I hate sport BJJ, it takes away from the self defense aspect and slowly starts leading to a mcdojo.

    • Timmy O'Toole LMFAO! You're an idiot. GJJ was taught as self defense first. And I personally have seen it used in self defense. Again, you're an idiot.

    • Timmy O'Toole Really? 80 percent of sport BJJ does not involve blocking punches. They involve fighting other BJJ fighters, but not someone trying to punch you. Again, you're an idiot.

    • +Paparazzo2086 guys guys, these arguements are kinda pointless, no offense. I think everyone agrees training sport bjj only wont effectively prepare you for street altercations, however it doesnt take that much training with strikes in order to be good enough, don't forget that the real reason jiu jitsu is so effective is because of the live rolling. You dont need to focus solely on gracie combatives in order to be able to defend yourself. I don't think anyone would doubt that Keenan would do just fine in a street fight, as would Josh Hinger. Not to mention, Rener and Ryron gracie do sport style moves during sparring all the time, even they would agree you dont need to spend all your training preparing for strikes. I just think it's kinda crazy that bjj people can be so divided when it comes to this. Everyone can do both. It doesn't matter what brand you put on it.
