My dad passed away last night, this is the song he loved the most and will be buried to. Please love and hug your people a little harder for me today because you never know when a loved one might be gone.

Very sorry for your loss. I lost mine a few years back but it still feels like yesterday. As someone who has been there I won't say it gets easier but eventually you start replacing the sad memories with the good ones. It's a process. Just a couple months ago I lost my father in law as well. He was like a 2nd dad. Just stay positive.

Met my only when I was 16, he'd just turned 18. Married him when I turned 18. We celebrated 34 yrs of marriage this year (2016). He's got MS, had a stroke last year. He was my only the 1st time I met him, he's still my only, he'll always be my only. The years have held sorrow, but much more happiness. We share our life and love with our 30 year old son, his wife, and 2 grandbabies. "What You Give" reminds me of what I've received. And I'm damn thankful for it all.

I'm a music fan in general, but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING compares to 80s rock. Hell, nothing compares to the 80s in general. It was a much simpler time. nobody got offended by something somebody said, and everyone agreed on one thing: there was nothing greater than our music and our decade. Sure do miss those days. Anybody got a delorian for sale?

Yep, me too. And here I am at age 34, and while I've felt that special kinda love toward 2, maybe 3 gals in my life, I've literally never had a woman tell me she loves me that way. Of course I am grateful for and genuinely appreciate my mother's love as well as the love of other female family and, well, I don't know that I have any lady friends that even love me as a friend, but anyways, as great as that love is, when you don't have that special kind of love, and when you have gone years without ANY sort of intimacy with a woman, not even cuddling, and yiu go completely without that magical feeling of excitement and burning arousal within your heart and soul and body as a whole which only the physical touch and affection of a woman can bring to a man, well, as I said, you realize how important that special kind of love is....

Tesla is one of my favorite bands from the 80's and I still listen to them now. This song has such meaning and is helping me in my situation. I can't be with my husband anymore. We have too toxic of a relationship. But it doesn't stop me from loving him, and him being my only one. He can never be replaced. I don't believe in multiple marriages. My heart and soul don't work that way. Thank you Jeff Keith for singing this with so much feeling and emotional.

I remember getting this cassette for Christmas one year. 'Santa clause' always wrapped our gifts like he was in a huge hurry & I remember this tape being wrapped with one piece of wrapping paper going around it long ways so all I had to do was pick it up & I could clearly see the side 'label' (that wasn't even a little bit covered) & I knew what that gift was 😅 Bless my Mom for trying. Now those "dingbat" moments are some of my favorite memories to look back on and laugh at cause not only can I relate, but because my Mom was always the one laughing the hardest at herself 🥰😅 Good times.

A very wise person, my Mom, said to me one time "no one ever dies as long as someone remembers them, they just aren't as close as we would like them just now". My loss was a friend, more like a brother, to an OD, who I still miss to this day. Whenever you hear this cut you will remember him and he will be right next to you. Then, when we all go to the other side we can be with them again and complete. Peace to you and yours my sister.

Very sorry for your loss. I lost mine a few years back but it still feels like yesterday. As someone who has been there I won't say it gets easier but eventually you start replacing the sad memories with the good ones. It's a process.
Jacee K sounds like me and my husband, met when I was 13 he was almost 16! Still together just celebrated our 24 yrs anniversary together. Got married in 1999 but we still celebrate both anniversaries! I love him more than life and wouldn't take NOTHING for him!!!

Nikki Davis, Thank you. My husband and I celebrate the anniversary we officially became a couple And our wedding anniversary. My mother thinks I'm nuts. But you Story is a Bit like ours. Only he was 14 and I was 21 so of course I wouldn't even think of him like that. Then when he was 22 we got together. Still together 10 years later and he is my all! Neither one of us expected it, in fact his proposal was Such a surprise because I had 2 divorces under my belt and he wasn't "the marrying kind" just goes to show, Anything is possible (btw my first marriage was when I was 17, I started Way too young!)

I was tearing up the other day for the same reason with a different song from the 70's . Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head. My father committed suicide at age 39 in 1979.
My wife and I are both grew up in the 80's. We both simultaneously went through long and heavy trials and afterwards found each other. We danced to this song at our wedding reception. She's God's greatest gift to me!
Soulful... passionate... and emotionally deep.
Yes very true
Ive said it before and I'll say it again. If you didnt grow up in this era and listen to this music, you Have No idea what you missed. The 80's was THE best decade! Not for just the music but also just to grow up and live in. Tesla, Motley, Poison, Cinderella, Kix, and goddamn it, so many more. I would love to re-live those yrs again.

Went to see tesla acdc motley crue guns and roses in one year coming home from the tesla concert was pulled over with 3 passengers in my truck with the smell of beer in the air me and a friend 2 girls and the situation was looking bleak then the cop noticed the tesla t-shirt and asked is that where we were coming from I said yes he asked me to step out of truck to the back told me he wanted to go to the concert but couldn't get off from work made me promise to get back to my neck of the woods be nice to the girls stay off the roads what a night well 2 days as it turned out and 2 Nights damn it man anybody got a time machine
this came out in 1991..whomp. I dig 80s music but I think the late 60s and 70s did it even better. to each their own I guess
Agree ! Love this era ..our big hair was the shit ..aww to go back ...
45, never married, no kids...yet I think I met the one...and sang this as hard as I could after a long, arduous work day thinking about her. DAMN, music had soul back then. Like most here, miss those days so much.
Smart! No wife, no kid's. Smart!
Yes, I miss those days so damn much.
This song still makes my old ladie leave snail trails around the pad😊
I didn't meet my wife til I was 36. Long wait but so worth it. Tesla is the best
Wife, 28 years and 57 YOA so sure miss those younger days…
Literally one of the best songs ever written.
Well, since they have the best song ever, Love Song, they got a good repertoire...

TESLA, You're fantastic! Let's be friends and have fun!
My name is James and was just recently diagnosed with cancer. One of my biggest wishes is to meet Mr. Jeff Keith as a last request. I have been a fan since I heard their music when I was 10. Please Mr. Jeff Keith, if you read this, know your music got me through many hard time in my life, and what I am going through now, even more. You are a great vocalists as well as a beautiful soul. Thank You for your true love for life and people.
Hello James .. I pray your wish is granted. I'll keep you in my prayers. I pray God Almighty will heal you and sustain your life for many years to come. We tend to forsake the Lord yet the Lord NEVER forsakes us. Cry out his name with a sincere heart❤ God bless you!!
Matt 6:9-13 KJV Bible " Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."
I've got a feeling he would be honored to meet you if you can get the message to him. Heard lots of good things about him.
@@irenedixon4615 Thank You. That means much to me.
Cancer sucks....me too. Not caring now. Butt.....listen to stained...battle with all our energy's. Here dude
This makes me tear up. Not only because it's a great ballad but because these bands and these songs are gone and they're not coming back. Oh but what a hell of a ride it was my friends.
Hello how are you doing today?
Oh I would not give up so easily. If it is in our hearts and minds it will always be with us.
Really I got a bit choked up too. I remember listening to this song when I was in the hospital for a bone infection in my right foot and I snuck out onto the helicopter pad to smoke a cigarette listening to Tesla on my cassette tape.
🍺⚡️🍺
Saw recent live version in July 2023 and honestly, Tesla is one of the best bands I have ever seen live. Vastly underrated band and deserve to be in RRHOF. Saw them at the Odeon in Cleveland in the 90’s and one of best shows ever! Keep rockin gents!
Fuck em. Tesla is a class above all those pretentious Rolling Stone Magazine 'intellectual' ass clowns. They mean the world to those of us who can hear.
The scream at 3:19 melts your soul🤘🎤. 🎫 👏TESLA🎸🎼
They'll get robbed of HoF every year til they're all dead, sadly

Lol, I saw them back in '89 when I was a young kid along with Poison. So good and very memorable for me.
I've seen them 3 times opening for Def Leppard '88,in a club in NJ in '04 and at The Chance rock club in Poughkeepsie,NY in '14.Excellent real rock 'n' roll band!

You got that right👍
Yes
Met my old man listening to this
For those who don't know, this is actually about the death of Jeff's dog......................so it basically IS a love story dedicated to him. Having experienced the same thing, it takes on an even deeper meaning for me.
no such thing as aloe song anymore
Totally love that lyric, "It's not what you got, it's what you give. It ain't the life you choose, it's the life you live." Wisdom comes from strange places sometimes.
how is a song a strange place to find wisdom? do you even know what music is? have you ever heard of poetry? what planet do you live on? or are you just one of those simpletons

Just saw these guys in concert on Friday . I was absolutely blown away how great they sounded. They said it was 37 years since they been to that venue. It was like traveling back in time to the 80s. Great song, great band.
I could listen to this song on repeat everyday and never get sick of it !!!!❤
Just turned 46. Can't express how much this song means to me. Got to watch this music get buried and watch grunge take over. Still remember sitting with my friends chilling listening to this and more. I miss it so much kids today don't have a clue. It's all we had to do was buy cds and hang out. No smartphones, no internet, no worries just a fun concert and a weekend with great memories.

Say what you want, but the 80's Hair Bands put out some of the best music in history. Could listen to this over and over.
That is true! Right from the heart
some of them did. Tesla is one of them. Even if someone doesn't like genre; they have to recognize the talent in the bands who had it. I've noticed they have stuck around. (recently hearing this on a classic rock station brought me here)
I'm from the 60's & 70's but because of MTV I got to see these 80's rock bands and yea they ain't the Beatles or Pink Floyd but I can jam to this music, in fact I'm going to see Tesla, Def Leppard, & CCR in a couple weeks rock on!!!!

Klyn Bhuyn I love hearing about the younger generation who their parents raise them right . I don't mean to be judgemental but people who appreciate older music generally are more respectful, and I'm sorry just decent human beings. God bless you, glad you have great musical taste. Amen to your Dad!
Father knows best.
“Everybody needs a special kind of love” 💗 the way those words hit me.

June 5th 2020. Things are finally starting to open back up. 80s and 90s we had the best music. Period.
One of my favorite bands as a kid, I'm 51 now. One of the most underrated bands ever. I gotta see them live just once.
This is so hard. I hope your road ahead is full of joy and peace as well as this complex pain. 💜
One of my late husband and my favorite songs. So many memories, hearing you play this on your guitar and me singing, to riding the country side on the Fatboy jammin as we are thunder on the highway. Hope you hear me playing and singing this song. This song speaks the truth, we gave it our all and was blessed with 26 years of marriage. No one can feel this void. Cant wait to be with you my Love. Forever and Always
Love you so much I lose track of time!!!
Natachia Williams sorry for your loss. God's blessings upon you...
GOD Bless... Sorry...
Very touching. You will find him Again:)
+Natachia Williams I know I can never understand your pain so I hope this helps.
Yes. Not what you have but what you give. ALL HEART... and love

Tesla wasn't a hair band. They were a great continuation of the Spirit of the Seventies which was the best music in History. I just saw them for the second time in Nashville on February 19. Most of their songs are uplifting and speak to what's really important in a life. God bless Tesla. They are still giving joy to the World and that's a great thing.
Quite possibly the best written lyrics known to man. 🔥
............................and they're even deeper when you know what the song's about (the death of Jeff's dog).
