    • Let me say to you my psychologist once told me that denialism and wishful thinking will not help anyone especially those who are experiencing a health issue also and finally as Christians we need to learn that faith does not mean a denial of facts

  • It was so beautiful seeing you at the shops the other day. You parked next to me, I wanted to ask you how you were doing but decided not to overwhelm you. I sat there, while you sat in your car and prayed for you and thanked GOD for you. You are so special, our wedding song was "Ngiyazifela" - gives us butterflies each time. We love you and bless GOD for your recovery and all that HE will do and is doing through you.

  • Look at God! I went through the same thing when I had Covid, had 2 strokes and I was literally gone. God saved me. Had speech difficulties, reading difficulties. Till now I'm recovering, still have remembrance issues, my speech has drastically improved. I was bitter when people around me expected the person they knew before the Covid, now I have accepted it, moved on, and much happier and very very calm and at peace with myself. I am a living testimony. And a big shout out to my family and friends!!

It was from all the stress I was experiencing due to a traumatic event that was happening in my family at the time! My left side was paralysed and left eye closed. I just want to cry thinking about it😢😢😢😢. I have made a full recovery even though my left eye has poor vision and my left hand is still weak. I am so happy for you. I pray for continuing healing and restoration. Love and light to you sibling❤❤❤. Sister from Melbourne🇦🇺.

  • Hello, dumelang! My name is Tefo all the way in Botswana. I must say that I really cried upon watching this interview, simply because of I’m super grateful for Miss Lira’s life and journey to recovery. In May 2019 I lost my mother due to a stroke supposedly caused by high blood pressure spiraling up and thus triggering her blood sugar levels. My mother was awake one morning helping my little brother for school and preparing herself for work but was certified no more by the doctors at around 1700hrs 17-05-2019. They had just celebrated my father’s birthday on the 05 May 2019 and my little brother’s birthday on the 11th-May 2019. The most painful part is that none of us was able to bid her farewell everything just happened so fast in one day, mind you I was away training for one of the armed forces here. I still till this very day wish and pray that had she at least suffered this type of stroke like Miss Lira’s (not to belittle or disrespect nor discredit her condition) but just so that I could still have her here alive with us because I swear life hasn’t been as easy at all. It hurts it gets hard and there’s nothing we can do about it other than just try and get by as a family. Thank you to the both of y’all for this interview May the Lord continue to bless y’all and guide you through this life.

The impediment comes back every now and then and people don't understand when I run out of vocabulary. I'm working, continued my studies, I'm 10 years in the medical field post the stroke. I thank God for saving me.

I have fully recovered, even though my left eye and hand are weak. I had to learn to write with my right hand! God has been amazing.Through those wonderful, experienced doctors, He gave me my life back! Many know Him as many other things, but to me He is a healer! Today I use the talent He gave me, to help bring healing to others for His purpose. I pray for His wisdom and acknowledge that I use my hands and learned knowledge, BUT ultimately, he brings healing to every person. 🙏🙏

  • Wow.. it only takes God🙏🏾 I went through the similar experience around the same time as Lira. In addition to her condition I also lost my ability of movement. I couldn’t walk, had to be be taught to talk, read, write and walk. As she, I am grateful for life after a couple of months i could do those things again. It's a journey, everyday is a victory that I'm getting back to who i was. Finally, gone back to work after a whole year of not working. Godspeed to you Ausi Lerato, keep drawing strength from God and loved ones. All I said when i was getting better was it took the army of heaven to get me back here. The love and support i got just encouraged me to fight more. It's not easy but it's worth every step i take to getting back to me. What a reset and relearning this has been. Thank you Relebogile for giving us these reminders that life happens when you least expect it. Love, light and strength to you Aus Lira❤

    • If she hasn't aready, she should look into stem cell therapy in an attempt to revive some of the damage. An injection full of stem cells will be injected through her spinal cord, and it will travel all the way to the damaged area of the brain and start repairing. Just a quick lesson. If your loved ones ever suffer from an ischemic stroke (blood clot), their recovery will be like 5 times better if they receive treatment within 3 hours after the stroke. They are to receive a type of medicine called thrombolytic (a “clot-busting” drug) to break up blood clots so that blood can continue to reach the parts of the brain it was blocked from before the cells permanently die. This is what happened to Lira. Had she gotten this treatment, she would have retained most of her linguistic abilities. The delay came with such consequences, but recovery is still possible, although much, much harder. We only know what we know. Thus, knowledge is power. Wishing her more progress ❤️. Im not a doctor, but I recommend supplementation with vitamin D3 5000iu + Vitamin K2 100mcg daily for prevention or after the fact. Do your own research. Chow.

What an incredible testimony of strength, support and the overall power of surrendering to the things we can't control. I am so thankful that I watched this.

My mum had a stroke although it wasn't that severe & she was semi paralised for a few months then made a full recovery🙌🏾

  • She says it was the first time in 3 and a half years she had traveled overseas. Which means this was the first time she traveled after the lockdown period. Keep in mind that if you're from SA you must be vaccinated to enter European countries. She is young, eats healthy, exercises but suffered a stroke overseas. We thank God she's alive because some did not survive what she went through.

  • This is so inspiring. I had a similar experience, but an autoimmune kidney disease. When I got diagnosed at George Mukhari hospital, I was just like "okay so just need to take meds and I'll be fine right!" and that doctor explained that yes I'd take meds and ill be fine, but it's for a lifetime. Took a while to accept my new reality but I'm okay now. I recently graduated with my second degree, not everything is perfect but I'm living an answered prayer and I'm managing my condition. In retrospect, sometimes in the me moment you feel terrible but actually, it's not the worst thing to happen to you and smile a little, you're not carrying the world's problems.

For someone who uses their voice as the tool of their trade and to suddenly have that along with the basics of speaking, reading and writing that we can take for granted be taken away. Magnified by the fact that you don't know what's wrong with you or even how to say something's amiss. That's would be a dark nightmare 😢 I've always admired Miss Lira I'm so happy she's found her voice again. It could've been worse but I'm glad it wasn't.
