1) Don’t rush to throw away your old shirt. It can still serve you on the farm.
So, my creative torments:
- Cut the shirt at all seams to determine what we are dealing with.
- Iron everything.
- I have a large back, and two sides came out of it.
- From the front of the shirt we got the upper part of the cape with a seam in the middle.
- The sleeve became a large rectangular pocket, stitched lengthwise to separate it.
- After thinking a little and recreating the future image, I came to the conclusion that the cape would slide off from the load of toiletries.
Therefore, I made the top part double, like a pocket.
As planned, you can put a piece of plastic, thin plywood or cardboard in it. This will prevent distortions.
And indeed, when everything was sewn, the cape remained in place and did not fall to the floor.
Maybe this is a new invention? Joke)
If you make the sides longer, you get a double row of pockets.
A wide washing machine requires two shirts or extra fabric.
Can be beautifully combined. And also decorate with lace, ribbons, ruffles.

2) I cut up an old shirt and adapted its parts to a jacket. I’ll tell you why I did this and show you what happened.
I found a way to give a knitted sweater a new look without altering it. It’s like you have one jacket, but at the same time two or three. To do this, you need to sew a skirt and wear it under a sweater. All! Any light fabric, chiffon, cotton, satin, guipure will do.
To get the right size, you need to measure the circumference of your hips and add 7-10 cm for a loose fit.
The easiest way is to sew a skirt from a shirt, cutting it to the desired length. You need to add fabric to the length at the hem to insert the elastic. The finished skirt can be of any length, mine is 30 cm.
It’s good to have a white shirt; this color will go with any jacket. The button placket is also ready as a decoration.
- I also made smooth cuts on the sides.
But if you don’t have a shirt, you can cut out a skirt from a different fabric. The pattern is the simplest - a rectangle that is sewn on the sides. This skirt can be made in any style. Sew lace at the bottom, tie it, make cuts along the seams, sew on a flounce. If the jacket is a plain color, the skirt can be in any floral print.
- To prevent the elastic from twisting, sew an additional two lines over the elastic.
No one will guess that you are wearing two things.

3) Now my relatives bring me old shirts in bags. And I'm just glad. I cut off the sleeves and put them to work.
Remaking clothes has become a part of our lives. From things that have served their purpose, you can make completely unexpected objects.
For example, shirts are an excellent material for alterations. The shirt fabric is of good quality, practically does not wear out, and does not fade.
A man's shirt can be turned into women's blouses, comfortable household bags, pillows and various small items.
Sleeves and cuffs often remain unclaimed. But this is easy to fix.
I bring to your attention 4 cute things made from this part of the shirt.
Case for thermos or water bottle:
- I cut off the length of the sleeve so that a small thermos or bottle could fit inside. I stitched the bottom and sewed the seam with a zigzag.
- I sewed a handle to the cuff.
- The result is a useful thing that will come in handy when cycling and playing sports.
Bag case:
Bags are an eternal problem; many people are familiar with the situation when bags are placed in a cabinet and they take up all the space there. They just need storage space. A shirt sleeve is an excellent solution.
- I cut off a sleeve of sufficient length, the longer, the more bags it will fit.
- I folded the fabric along the cut line and sewed a drawstring for the tie. Using a pin, I inserted an elastic band and tied it into a bow, leaving a small hole.
- I sewed a handle sewn from a strip of the same fabric to the cuff.
- The bags are placed inside, on the handle side; for convenience, you can unfasten the button or button.
- A bunch of bags are placed here, they are compressed and become 10 times smaller. It is easy to remove the bag from the hole.
Case for storing sewing items:
- Even one cuff can be useful. You need to rip it off the sleeve and re-make the stitching. Then fasten it with a button. Fold to form a pocket and iron.
- Sew side seams. In 5 minutes a small case for sewing small items is ready.
Napkin Ring:
- The cuff can be used instead of a napkin ring when setting the table.
- To do this, you need to tear it off the sleeve and sew up the seam, fasten it with a button and place a folded napkin in the ring.
