after listening to the explanation in the beggining... this is commonly known as the "air bud clause", (yes the basketball dog, no I'm not kidding) which is basically doing something you know should be against the rules, but isn't because it felt unnecessary to make it a rule.

@@darkiusmc979 look it up, they brought a deck box so tall it could mistaken for a plank, also most of the cards involved suffeling, their intent was to spend soo much time shuffeling the deck to make sure the duel timer would end before their opponent got a turn. they got disqualified after the first round and a deck size limit was added before the next tournament
@@filipthunell8631 was one of the tourney judges who did it after pushing for the deck limit rule for a while, he forced their hand basically

I love how sweaty the Speedrunning culture is. The difference between Smallant and the Number 1 Odyssey speedrunner is literally 6 minutes. Which doesn't seem too hard to reach until you notice that there are 152 people in front of Ant beating him by literally seconds to try and get there and they just don't have that pinpoint accuracy in their run yet. I love it

i can beat that. i can mod my switch to give me a pipe to the moon kingdom, then makle sure it autosaves, then do a pipe to the ending and beat it in 2:37 seconds

Timing starts when you select start on a new file and end when you shoot out of the wire in the escape sequence but there's no rule preventing you from loading another save right after or doing those two things on different devices as far as I can see

I learned when you jump through the painting to bowsers kingdom for an extra moon, you can jump down a certain angle,and you will end up on an island in bowsers kingdom, I’ve only ever done this running around the game so I’m not sure if it actually works in a real game your already playing

I mean mods are clearly against the spirit of the rules. Having to show your version number and never stopping the recording are there so that you have an legal build of the game which implies it should be unmodified. None of that matters though, since this is a gimmick/joke run.

@@lilyliao9521 I made several arguments against this idea in my highschool, our student handbook was far to vague, and by pointing out the loopholes in the dress code and the like I ended up causing them to finally rewrite it after 20 years. I'm sure the girls were pissed but I basically exploited the same loophole they used for these big hair bands to wear a bandana, and wear a guy fawkes mask, "it's not covering my head or my face" the mask was wore on the back of my head. They couldn't do shit, they tried but I pulled their own contract out.
Just because they don't mention you can't use mods doesn't mean it doesn't already apply. This is because then someone could mod the game to automatically get the required moons as soon as they enter the world
I would say when you wrong warp, you'll have to die possibly but mainly reload the world somehow (autosave reload does this, world map going back and forth to a kingdom would do this) As I say when he first arrives some code or value isn't carried over or properly placed. Reloading the world would be a must to make sure all values are correct :)

I remember in my middle school gym class, the basketball court was marked out in green lines. One day, my class had to do a game of tag (or something similar) where you could only walk on the green lines. Thing is, there were small sections of green line that weren't attached to the main court, so I, being the little shit I am, stood on that small line the entire game. The gym teachers didn't call me out on it, but I did get eliminated, so it didn't *entirely* work...

At 10:54 someone by the name of Extrasyllabe typed out a very long message. This was when Smallant was looking away so I decided to write it out for you here. I think it is actually quite useful so here it goes. Beat the game as fast as possible. Timing begins when you select “Start” and ends when you shoot out of the electric wire in the escape sequence. RTA timing is used meaning runs must be completed within one setting and the timer cannot be pause at any point in the run. All runs require video proof (with audio). Runs must be done entirely with your switch in docked or undocked Mode, you may not switch between the two mid run. The use of a Amiibo, Luigi’s balloon world and assist mode is not allowed.
I… actually cannot tell if this is a joke. This is the rules of the category.

It would be really cool if there was a tab for speedruns that are modded. Like In those tabs, there are set allowed mods for each speedrun type, and people compete with certain mods on to try and beat the game as fast as possible. Or hell, a timer mod that makes the game crash if you don't beat the KINGDOM In a set time.

Reminds me of that time I entered a cookie contest, no rule said I couldn't buy professionally made cookies, Paid $12 for like 6 custom cookies, and Won. Someone called me out on it but it was deemed the rule was never put in place so it was valid. The next year the Bake your own cookies rule was present however.

It was crashing because of running out of memory, I imagine. It still had Cap Kingdom loaded when you went to Moon, but the autosave / load fixed that.

By any% definition you were also fine. You took the fastest route possible to beat the game while also following all the set rules. A true rule follower I say
"If you flip a coin and it's heads, the next time you flip it, it will be tails, guaranteed." I mean, technically, flipping the coin 180 degrees would make it tails.
I feel like we legit learned a lot about the limits of the game through this. We learned how the game attempts to prevent skipping kingdoms, and what potential roadblocks and solutions we might encounter if any major kingdom skip glitches are found in the future.
SmallAnt is the person that forced the theme park to put a sign at the theme park that says: No taking pictures eating a live cow while nekad shouting the lyrics to feliz navida.

Now, the leaderboards are specifically for "Super Mario Odyssey". Not a game that "looks like Super Mario Odyssey" and not a game that is "very similar to Super Mario Odyssey", only "Super Mario Odyssey". Since the game was modified, it could be said that the game was technically no longer "Super Mario Odyssey" and hence a speedrun of this game is not applicable for the leaderboards. :P
