"Pretty EMBARRASSING!" - Royal Editor On Prince Harry Apology For Confidentiality Breach In Court
The Duke of Sussex has apologised after he breached confidentiality rules during his High Court battle against the Home Office by emailing information to Johnny Mercer.
Court documents reveal Prince Harry 'breached a confidentiality ring' in November 2023 when he emailed the veterans minister information about the court case.
He lost his first attempt to appeal against the dismissal of his legal challenge over the British government's decision to take away his police protection when he is in Britain, a court spokesperson said on Monday.
Harry, King Charles' younger son, had brought the action against the government at the High Court in London after the Home Office - the ministry responsible for policing - decided in February 2020 that he would cease to automatically receive personal police security while in Britain.
Harry, along with other senior royals, had received full publicly-funded security protection provided by the state before he stepped back from his royal duties and moved to California with his American wife Meghan in March 2020.
Royal Editor Sarah Hewson says Prince Harry's court case against the Home Office "will not be resolved any time soon".
"He emailed sensitive and confidential documents to Johnny Mercer... Harry had to issue an apology, pretty embarrassing for him."

He has no case to start of with and I don't understand why he keep forging forwards with a case that he has no right to bring to court in the first place and wasting UK's tax payers' money. 1. If Harry is asking for security simply because he is the son of the King, then he should act like the son of the King by not disparaging the royal family and by being a working member of the royal family contributing to the King and country. Is that not also asking for more privileges than anyone else simply by the virtue of being the son of the King? He preaches equality but he wants more privileges than anyone else. 2. If Harry feels unsafe in the UK then don't come back to the UK. Plain and Simple. He has no role in the UK and charities will do fine without him. Being chased by Paparazzi in London and NY (both proven to be inaccurate- no cars followed him in London according to dash cam from passerby and NY grid lock traffic prevents any kind of high speed car chase) will not harm Harry if Harry and his team just follow the road rules. 4.If being a war veteran warrants his 24/7 security, then all the other war veterans should be afforded 24/7 security. Again he is asking for privileges more than others. 5. Harry currently gets bespoke security but he is not satisfied with that because he wants 24/7 security given only to the very senior working royals such as the King, the Queen and the Wales family. However, the point that he is missing is that he is demanding this privilege while he is not a working royal. So again, he is demanding for privileges even more so than the King himself because while the King serves the country for which he is afforded the security, Harry wants the same level of security as the King while not contributing to the country. 6. It is time Harry learns to accept that actions have consequences. He was the one who made the decision to step down from being a senior working royal. He was the one who boasted about how many he has taken out on the front line which has affected his own security. He cannot expect the UK's taxpayers to pick up expenses incurred by his own thoughtless actions. 7. Harry as a commoner celebrity middle aged multimillionaire asking for freebie security at the whim of his request from the UK of which he has disparaged on world stage is self entitled, shameless, tone deaf and out of touch.

I'd prefer him to be paying 100%, and a hefty fine on top for wasting the court's time. However, the 10% he's not required to pay is a penalty to the Home Office for not submitting required documents on time. The judge gave the HO a deadline and they missed it so he's making them pay some of their own costs.
