These are awesome Nicole. I just do not understand why people feel the need to leave mean and hurtful comments. Good for you that you have found something that can bring you peace and comfort during this sad time in your life. I had never heard of this type of art before and I love it because I love to color and doodle. Thank you so much for introducing me to a wonderful new form of art! I am going to Boston next week to be with a friend having knee surgery and now I know what I will bring with me to work on....a book to doodle in and color while I am waiting for her surgery to be over. I have to say that I watch lots of tutorials and yours is the most relatable I’ve seen because when you pulled out that box of “kid” markers, I was thinking, “finally someone who makes brilliant art with the same tools I actually have at home!” ❤
Thank you for demonstrating the process. As a retired art therapist-you are right on with the meditative calming effect this provides. You add color if and when you want. The two parts of creating is process & product. Not worrying about the end result takes courage and is extremely beneficial. Thank you!

That’s how we find what we like. ❤️ can’t believe people feel you have too much time on your hands… people shouldn’t judge. Art is art! It's so easy to judge someone when you don't know them or know what they are going through. And we shouldn't be judging. You've helped me a lot and I thank you for that. I value your time.
i discovered this while desperatly seeking ways to deal with my panic disorder aka ...wicked bad panic attacks. i had been to ER more times than i could count and paramedics to my house even more times. when i found this i would get my book and crayola markers out when i felt an attack coming on it gave my mind somthing to focus on while my body was engaged and moving. the more detailed the image the better it worked. i cannot explain how...but it would distract my mind...allowing my body to calm itself....heart rate to slow breathing to slow ect...these attacks also always came with shaking sweating and full body tremor or nerve type buzz under my skin. somtimes it would only take an hour somtimes longer...but it was night to day better compared to trying to read or look at my phone and doing the art ALWAYS led to me eventually being able to sleep and stay asleep as most of my attacks came at night...it was my trigger i guess. it really does work.
I just found your video, and I’ve recently started dabbling with neurographic art. I also lost my dad and was diagnosed with a chronic illness (both a couple years ago) and I’m not quite sure if I’ve ever grieved or accepted all the events that’s happened in my life. I’ve been looking for a release. Your explanation on how to go about this artistic medium is greatly appreciated and something I think I needed. Thanks again. Stay awesome! 🧡
When my son died, I couldn’t focus on anything but doing nothing made me want to jump out of my skin. Colouring saved me. Kept my hands busy while my mind was able to zone out. I’m sorry to hear about your father.
So sorry about the loss of your son I also lost a son over 6 years ago now he was 27 .its so hard to loose a child .
Too many people out there don't understand about therapy, and how important art and craft is to people's mental wellbeing, and I hope you never feel bad when people say daft things like that in their comments. It is a reflection on them, and not on you. (((Hugs))) That detailed one with the circles is stunning! The are all amazing, actually, but that one - wowzer! I am going to be 60 this year, and I used to do these as a child. I didn't know they were therapeutic. I just knew that I loved to do squiggle lines and colour in the result. I also used to do lightning bolts up and down and then across and colour those in too. Then nothing for decades, except when showing my kids ideas like this for them to try out, but thanks to you and your FB group and other YT contributors I am back in love with this artform and benefitting from the anxiety relief it offers. :)

I work with children and have been teaching them neurographic art. I have a small group of about 4 children that are so into this art that their parents have bought them everything they need as they love it for their children as some are high energy and this is very relaxing and calming...so some very grateful parents. My job done 😊
Our 5th grade music teacher, Mrs. Davis, used to have us do this while we were listening to classical music. The loops and the coloring.

Neurographic art has been life-changing for me in terms of meditative creativity. The meditative colouring books just stressed me out, because I felt constricted by the existing line drawing that I was simply putting colours into - the only 'creativity' came from which colours I chose to put where, which wasn't enough for me. Then I tried reverse colouring, but that also stressed me out for the opposite reason; I had no clue what to do with the blotches of colours and just ended up overwhelmed by the infinity of choices. But neurographic art is the perfect middle ground; there are enough 'rules' to follow that you can feel like you can create something that'll look decent in the end, but there's still enough freedom within those 'rules' to experiment and make something that's completely your own.
Meditation is so important especially when trying to process so much emotion. Thank you so much for sharing your process. Please try your best to ignore the rude comments - you mean so much to so many people. I’ve watched for ages and don’t comment much but had to because I’m so impressed with how you have shared so much of yourself during such a vulnerable time. I would be under a rock - and you have been a rockstar!! Please know that you are loved and prayed for - even if there may not be a comment for every video.
I am literally in tears right now. I thought I was crazy for doing this my entire life. I was told to quit doodling and was teased by my fam and in school for self soothing this way. Thank you for this.

Great pieces, nice job using this method to heal!! I love neurographic art, as well as zentangling! I used to use it with clients I served, at a children's residential home for trauma informed kiddos!!

Back in the mid 1960's, I remember doing this in elementary art class. The Teacher put on some smoothing music and we could only use 3 colors, but no 2 sections connecting or next two each other could be of the same color. This rule makes you plan carefully.
So glad you did a video on this. I’ve been doing this for years, long before they gave it a name. Great therapy most definitely !!!

Thank you so much for sharing the process with us. I don't know that I'm patient enough to do it, but I may give it a try. I love, love, love the ones you have done! I did try doing the lines of color like you did on the first page of your composition book - epic fail, lol! As for the comments left by people saying you have too much time on your hands - ignore them. Unless and util they have walked a mile in your shoes . . . KWIM? Keep on keeping on! It's day 40 for me (since I lost my man) and keeping on keeping on is all I know how to do right now. Grief sucks!!!
I am sorry for your loss. If you try this again you will discover a rhythm and time will slow or speed up to meet your personal needs. You never have to finish a page and you are never wasting paper or ink. You will find your signature look and feel. And when you look at the piece you will recall memories and meaning. Take extra care of yourself, take things on your time frame, ignore bad advice, and keep good boundaries. Warm soft hugs.

I've been doing this at night for the past week or so and it has helped me with my anxiety and it slows my brain down and it has helped me sleep because I'm so calm by the time I'm done for the night. My father recently passed away (I'm sorry you lost your daddy too) and this truly has helped me process. I love your works too. I just found this type of art, it's much like I used to do as a child but learning the theory behind it has been interesting. I understand how it's been helpful for you dealing with the loss of your dad, my condolences. I had to watch lots of horse videos to deal with my grief, my dad was a horse whisperer. I am finding these so soothing and calming and cathartic if I am angry. So simple, yet so helpful. Never give the toxic people room in your head, I find this hard too and I find doing this art keeps me in the moment, not thinking about toxicity or negativity. Well done, thanks for posting.

Sorry for your loss and kudos for having a grasp on processing your feelings. Forget the mean people. When I draw my original lines, I saw a video where the lady suggested that you can be very mindful about the process by thinking to yourself "Everytime my brain wants the line to go one way, force mysef to draw it the other way." It really adds another level to getting in the zone!
