    • @@bwofficial1776it’d be obvious.. Fiberglass shattering vs sheetmetal crushing. When you have a $100MM budget for a film, $200k in damage is easily covered. Hell, it may have even increased the car’s value being connected to a blockbuster film.

    • You get a contract that has a performance bond that is held by a 3rd party for much more than the estimate value of the car. Think of it as the movie company puts up a lot of collateral in the hands of an intermediary party. And if that does happen you claim against that bond and walk away angry but with money in your pocket and your car. Terms of contract in this case seem like he could have asked for anything he wanted.

  • I’ve always loved and wanted a Countach. They were always a few steps ahead of me financially though. The closest I got was an abandoned Testarossa that I actually got for 20k! What I did do to satisfy my Countach itch was to build a replica in the late 80’s on a tight budget. It got sold back in the day, but I fortunately bought it back in 2016. I refinished the interior in white leather with ultra rare OEM panels that I luckily came across. The beauty of a replica in todays crazy market is that I can actually drive it with no worries

  • You made history and you preserved it imagine if the car was wrecked or stolen but it was well taken care of and someday it might be the only one left and when people see it they are going to want to know about it

  • Totally get why he sold it.. I recently sold a collector car far less valuable (a beautiful black C2 Corvette coupe) because it was too mentally taxing worrying about every little blemish they inevitably get just sitting there in the garage, not to mention dodging lunatics in traffic.

  • This story touched my soul! My dream as a kid was a ( first year) 1948 Harley.. I found one in a barn covered with a canvas when I was 17 ( The farmer's son never came back from Vietnam) I bought it for $150 and still have it now 46 laters. During Covid I did a complete nuts and bolts restoration.. He has now encouraged me to GET OUT and MAKE history with it ( not just preserve it)
