And stormtrooper auto-blasters/machine-blasters are actually German MG-34's and MG-42's with some parts added. George Lucas decided to use WWII-era Nazi weapons for Star Wars because most Westerners hadn't seen them at the time, unless they were veterans of Europe.

@@metanumia and the standard Stormtrooper carbine is a Sterling smg with no magazine, and the heavy blaster they used in Mos Eisley spaceport in episode 4 was a Lewis gun, again without a magazine. You have to do these things when you only have a million bucks to make a movie!
Most of the guns used in the Star Wars original trilogy are modified milsurp, because it was cheaper to buy then modify them versus having to build the blank firing prop guns from scratch. The blaster rifle used by Storm Troopers is really a Sterling L2A3 and the rifles you see the rebels using during the battle on Hoth are Stg44s and M16s.

Not just that, an actual "Red 9" 9mm c96. Which are rather rare now. Only had about 200k made in WW1.

I have a surplus Polish flare gun and we can buy inserts down here to shoot real ammo through them. I have one for .410 shotgun shells and 45 Long Colt pistol rounds, it's a lot of fun. They also make 22LR inserts and a few others. I also have a 12 Gauge insert for 12 gauge flares, BUT if a person were brave enough, they could try the Aguila mini shotgun shells. It's machined so a 2.5 or 3" 12 gauge shell won't fit. I personally think it could *possibly* handle the pressure of at least a few minishells, but it's not a question I need answered. I'm a hobbyist gunsmith down here in the USA and your shop makes me super jelly. The guns I would build........ I need to win the lottery. Great job on this build, first one I've seen that actually fires something!

If you get a strong enough metal tube you can drill out a hole for the barrel and if it is the correct size it will fit either flares or 12 gauge shotgun shells.

You inspired me to start making a shield. First I am getting metal and other materials. Then it will be my summer project to make my shield. So I was just thinking if it shot a red hot bar of tungsten it would probably look even more like a blaster laser. Obviously it wouldn't be as easy or nearly as practical. love, but you can make it better. How you may ask? In the movies, the magazine in the front is some kind of gas, and the blaster shoots with a small amount of gas getting ionized(ion=electrons=electricity) then shooting plasma(ionized gas). what you could do, is a capsule like the flare but filled with gas. Then, at the end of the barrel, some kind of "tazer" that ignites the gas coming out!
