Why ISRAEL Is so Rich Despite Being Surrounded by Enemies

Israel is a young nation. It was only declared independent in 1948. And since its creation, few could have imagined the economic success it has enjoyed. Because despite being located in a conflictive region, bordering Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine and the Gaza Strip, Israel has achieved an economic miracle. Its level of income per person is at the level of countries such as France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. And the main reason that can explain this economic miracle, is the accelerated growth of its technology sector. In fact, after the United States and China, Israel is the country with the most companies listed on the Nasdaq, the second largest stock exchange in the United States, which is known for housing the world's most important technology companies. The interesting thing is that the United States has 330 million inhabitants, China has 1.4 billion and Israel has only 9 million. That is why Israel has earned the reputation of being the Startup Nation. That is, small and young businesses. This nickname was popularized by a book, similarly titled, Startup Nation. It is no surprise then that the world's leading multinationals have chosen Israel to set up their headquarters, as it offers an innovative and entrepreneurial environment. Microsoft, Motorola, Google, Apple, Facebook, Intel, IBM and Toshiba are just some of the more than 200 multinationals that have a presence in Israel. But there is something that is even more remarkable, and that is the fact that the Israeli military is the main source of talent and innovative ideas for the technology sector. So the questions are: how did Israel overcome the obstacles of its size and location? How does Israel turn its soldiers into entrepreneurs? And why aren't ultra-Orthodox Jews part of Israel's tech boom?

  • If they are so rich, why do they need billions in U.S. funding ?

    • The funding is 3b per year and goes directly to purchasing ammunition from US based companies. Know the facts before showing out your ignorance

    • @@liranzaidman1610 if they're rich then they can pay their own weapons and ammunitions themselves. I don't remember seeing Japan, Norway, or Germany pleading and lobbying the Congress just to get a billion dollar for them to buy new military toys

    • @@Kuricang31 wow...this is an American best war playground because of so much conflicts. Who will Germany fight against, France? Defense and military product prosper only in conflict areas, and having the Israeli army as a "quality stamp" for your weapon is a very important thing.

    • @@liranzaidman1610 Right...I forgot that you people are so entitled that even until today Germany is forced to pay Israel every year to the total of 1.5 billion dollars for the Holocaust reparations while it's farmers are now bleeding. And to think that Germany shouldn't had a military because 'there is nobody for them to fought for' and neglected it's military operations in Somalia, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, all while trying to keep the country safe from them migrants flooding Europe. Amazing 😂😂

  • This happens when a country focuses on technology and innovation instead of solely on religion, as its neighbors countries do.

    • But the current government is no different than its neighboring countries. Corporate taxes are incredibly high and with the war keeps going on which slowed down the economy, many of the start-ups and venture companies now moving abroad to much more stable countries like the US or UK. It's only a matter of time until Israel is becoming like it's neighbors
