    • i think personally i agree a decent bit with this. like in the perspective of he does very well with the hand dealt to him. he pushes pretty well to make himself better to get past all the problems he may encounter. however, i personally just feel that as a character he is flawed. he was shown to us to be a quirkless child who wanted to be a hero. he was displayed to us in a way where he said he will show the world that you can be a hero even without a quirk.....just to be given the number one heroes quirk. so, all the mystery behind how he would do it were gone. a massive part of what could've driven his character was lost damn near immediately once he met all might, had a heart to heart with him, then simply was given the quirk after working for it. now its just he needs to master the quirk. which is fine in its own right. but i just dislike deku for feeling, disappointed in a way to what he COULD have been. a bad ass quirkless hero capable of bringing the best to their knees as a batman esque hero of anime. but as for what we were given, i agree. he needs more credit for what he is, and what he has to do to work towards his dream. either way, great video. i stumbled across you from this video and its very enjoyable so far, so keep it up.

  • To be honest, people don't seem to understand how much baggage Deku has on his shoulders from his past and moving forward. Like shit- Deku was quirkless and belittled for 13/14 years. He trained to receive OFA, overworked himself, gained the quirk, was reckless because he never properly trained for it, of course he fucking cried. Not all of us are the same, some of us are just emotional people him crying has never really phased me tbh. Earlier seasons it was mostly for comedic effect but majority of the time moving forward it was justified based on the situation. Also yeah being a hero has its drawbacks, so many heroes quit after the war arc, so Deku started taking responsibilities more seriously and started taking everyone else problems and making it his own. He deserves so much fucking credit for his entire life up until now. Personally, if I was in his position, I would've given up long time ago LMAO. I can also relate because I cry a lot for different reasons. I really liked the explanations in this video, I don't have much to say cause I really do agree with everything haha. Great job!

It feels like They either want him to be a cynical and sadistic Hell-spawn like Eren Yeager, or a carbon-copy of Luffy or Naruto, (those guys are great MCs, but we don’t need EVERY Shonen protagonist to be the ultimate ADHD kid.) or a Batman knockoff, or a musclehead like Asta, etc. It’s like they’re dead-set on one specific character-type and can’t stand a character who’s more inspired by Peter Parker or Luke Skywalker. When I first started watching MHA, I got interested because I was told the creator was a Spidey and StarWars fan and it was basically a Japanese take on Western SuperHeroes, with a Peter Parker-ish Protagonist, so I knew what to expect going in. And hey, I love it! Deku quickly became one of my new favorite characters ever, and I think he’s a great example of OP Done Right! • One thing I want to add is that Deku was 14-16 years late to have a quirk. So when he received OFA to become his quirk, totally makes sense for him getting the backlash from that quirk early on. But then the greates thing about him is that he develop and control that quirk quickly. Under a few months he found a technique where he can minimalized the potential for his bones to be broken throuhg Full-Cowling. Not only that, he also unlocked the other quirks that reside within OFA. All of them got unlocked in just nearly one year since he received OFA and entered UA. Ppl are saying "Well Deku has the slowest progression and development of his power amongst other series's protagonist" while in the actual MHA timeline it's still only a year. How about we compare him to Mirio?? Mirip himself struggles with his quirk until Middle School. That took him what, 14 years and that was still uncontrollable. I still don't get those Deku haters with their out of context and irrelevant points.

    @Rensuke_Hero-gami@Rensuke_Hero-gami Жыл бұрын
    • So, you are telling me that deku, a boy whom never ever had a quirk in his life, mastered OFA in a timespan of a year when Mirio whom had a quirk for his entire life, ends up struggling hard. Damn that’s some real good story telling here. Wow. Crazy. I’m shocked bro. Time to be serious. Honestly tho, that sounds completely bs. Why tf are you comparing Deku, the main protagonist, to Mirio, a person whom only purpose if to challenge Deku’s ideals. Everything you said is all about bashing Mirio. Mirio this Mirio that. Catch a break man. The thing about him getting powers in several months is because the author don’t plan this shit to be 500+ episodes. Unlike one piece, naruto, etc… they haven’t got their power ups until 100+ episodes later is because the author’s want the series to go on long, so your point make 0 sense. For full cowling, someone had to tell him that he could fucking USE his legs for him to figure out Full Cowling. Other wise do you think he could have done it? Those 2 points are the only ones you made and it’s just you hating on Mirio for not being strong enough when the author didn’t built him strong enough and arguing about the amount of time it took for him to get his powers which shouldn’t matter one bit since I can argue Goku solos deku even though the amount of episodes it took them to get their super power ups is basically the same. Stop hating on people for literally no reason. Don’t be so butthurt if anyone gave criticism on your baby boy. Learn to actually accept criticism and stop being such a baby about it. Lastly, don’t bring other animes into this because that’s literally the dumbest thing to do. You’ll just look super dumb and toxic which you are.

I wrote specifically, that Mirio was created to challenge Deku’s ideals. And the situation with Mirio shouldn’t even be an issue, this is his story, he decide what’s best for it. Otherwise why is he writing a story in the first place. If he agreed with the editor’s point, it’s a whole other story but he’s not. And lastly, I already said it once, I’ll say it again. Like he says with Eri -- "how can I ever become a hero and save people if I can't even save one little girl". Because in their society you have to legally be a hero to use quirks to save people. When he was a kid he wanted to be a hero because it was "cool", now he selflessly cares only about protecting his comrades and saving/helping as many people as possible, to the point where it's detrimental to himself and his body... • The only complaint I have is that the author later on in the series started focusing way more on certain side characters and Deku gets pushed to the sidelines. I actually have always loved Deku. The things he did and the way he acts was always a great thing to me and this included his emotional side as well. I love black clover but as an example I prefer Deku over asta because I find asta to be more the type of MC that is not relatable or is a MC that is unrealistically "strong" mentally and physically. Deku was always the MC that was way more relatable to me as a human being because he cried and was humble and had doubts. Asta is the type of MC along with others like ichigo who were always strangely under emotional and unrealistically badass and headstrong. I just overall wish the series pushed for more development on his end compared to giving so much to others or at least I wanted horikoshi to make other characters development connect with deku's development more. You can technically argue that instead of this being Deku's story it is instead endeavors story. That is just how much focus endeavor has had. Instead of what happens with endeavor solo getting all of this screen time and development I would have preferred Deku getting development through more closely knit actions of him helping develop someone like endeavor. You can argue that if Deku didn't save shoto that shoto would have never gotten the development in order to develop endeavor and his family that is true but I wanted deku to be put in those specific situations in order to develop his growth way more drastically but instead he is put to the side and its solely focused on endeavor for all of that screen time. I wanted the entire story to be centered around Deku's journey and the things he directly influences. The story concentrates so much on hero society flaws and it not just being black and white. Certain situations and examples of that arise and it feels like part of them have deku being sidelined while they happen. I love the side characters getting developed and all but I wanted Deku to have more of a growth due to those side characters. The best thing that happened for Deku's development was the chapters he went on his own to stop villains. Those chapters amount to barely anything in the overall series. I think it was barely like 10 chapters that he got until he went back with the other class members. I didn't expect him to continue being solo and doing everything on his own but the focus and growth deku had in those very few chapters amounted to more than he has gotten over the entire series. Deku is a good MC but I think he got sidelined too much in his own series for the sake of putting too much focus on the other characters. Just my opinion. I still love him and the moments he has had.

I strongly relate to it rewatch it still now, especially with the stuff coming up in the manga soon for the anime this 2nd half of the season. Since Onimaru was so spot on, I think its an amazing video still that worth revisiting and reunderstanding the true meaning message of Izuku's character and why he's the only who can rightfully be the MC and is such a great and amazing one at that. Watching that video by Onimaru clears alot on Izuku's character and misconceptions on him and My Hero and its messages as a whole and it directly being connected to our own lives in society as well. • The crying take is stupid because some people want more MCs to cry and find more relatable and love him for it and some people toxicly hate it and will never like him. So it just depends on you and your personal values there, but shallow reasons to hate a character is toxic, dumb and immature and the character doesn't deserve that. But toxic masculine people will never understand that unless they change. It's up to them really, regardless he's a Goat and cried comfortably before they did. It's not a weakness for him and never will be.

  • First off? Subbed. Second? Thank you for making this video. As someone who is a big time Deku fan I know and understand deku is not perfect but he gets way to much hate and the argument is typically the same with no real depth. "He cries too much" "He's soft" "His power isn't earned" All of these are either false or hyperbole because they expect deku to be like Luffy or Naruto a lot of the time but he just isn't. I've said it time and again but I'll say it again DEKU IS ANIME SPIDER-MAN. Hell he's also probably the closest thing Shonen will get to a power ranger as possible if you ask me. He's virtuous, kind, compassionate and emotional. Empathic to a fault and will do anything to save someone in need. But at the same time when he's angry or determined? He's a MONSTER so much to the point that civilian's were telling legends about him and villains ran at the sight of him. Deku is a great character and I wish people wouldn't judge him so harshly and like I said I do understand he's not perfect and there are definitely some things I would change if I was writing the character but ultimately its not my story to tell. Anyway. Good video 😎👍

It'd be much easier for the fans to relate to him if he was already 20 or something, it would also greatly help mitigation the power creep problem. • To be honest, Deku is not that bad of a protagonist because he certainly deserves One For All. My only main problem with Deku is how he didn't even train or learn some martial arts before he met All Might. Deku wanted to become a Pro Hero, well then why not train since he was young? Deku should've been like Asta from Black Clover.

    @darkwinter2009@darkwinter2009 Жыл бұрын
    • Well the thing is, he never had a reason to in his mind. He feels worthless, so a person of that mindset even IRL will think there's no need to do certain things for themselves and in this particular situation that would be training. If he has no quirk, in that world you're viewed as useless by comparison so training to him would also be that-- useless. OFA gave him all the reason he wanted/needed to do such a thing

      @YaBoiSmurf@YaBoiSmurf Жыл бұрын
    • Just here to remind you that there is a big difference between Asta's and Deku's childhood. Asta lost his mom (i wondered where is his dad) and was nurtured by the church. Deku on the other side is not that tragic, hes still got his mom(maybe also his dad). But, the thing is Asta got true emotional support and inspiration from his best friend/rival Yuno, which encouraged him a lot, which Deku never had until he got into UA. He was bullied by his childhood friend, no one ever believed him, even his mom. Deku didnt actually have any close relationship at that time beside Kacchan and his mom, but his mind still didn't give up. And you know Asta's world dont required much education since it was operated by magic, and that was when Asta got a lot of time to train, and his situation at that time is quite chill, no war, no devils and beautiful scenery. But Deku's world is similar to that of us, he needed to go to school and study and faced many other problems (bully, stress,...) so he got less time and got stressed easily( it seemed his childhood memories were only some All Might videos and his mom). And dont ever say Deku didn't train, it just that he didn't focus on training muscles, it seemed he focused on gaining knowledge, noted everything about heroes and analysed, he also studied a lot, and that makes the most obvious difference between him and Asta, while Asta has insane pure strength, Deku has insane intelligence and strategic thinking. And theres quite a lot of examples that Deku's schedule is quite busy, remembered when he has to trained his arms in class or while doing homework, and he barely got time to run, thats why he usually run in the late evening and early in the morning). Anyway, this is just my observation and personal opinion, i love both of the animes, it just that i faced so many comparisons between these two and mostly the critics are towards Deku, so I just want give a fairest comparison. Thanks for reading and enjoy the anime :3

Obviously punches, he went for the easiest first He didn't train to be powerful: He did, but it doesn't get many emphasis, like when he was out of dorms doing hundreds of kicks to master shoot style, fighting morning, evening, day and night with villains when he became a vigilante, and many other scenes that aren't remembered due to being really short

He’s not some sweet innocent cinnamon roll baby that needs to be protected, he’s a strong determined young hero who’s kindness and selflessness allows him to put others before himself even at the cost of his own body and the power that was entrusted to him. But to the fandom and the general audience that makes him “bland, boring and generic”, a lot of the characters personalities are to basic and boring for the fandom so they exaggerated bits of their personality and add in non canon things that make them look and feel more interesting to them, but it’s actually done the opposite and made them seem one dimensional, like a completely different character from what they were originally, and toxic

      @Flugel_Pendragon@Flugel_Pendragon Жыл бұрын
    • @@Flugel_Pendragon The fandom exaggerating his personality makes sense as that is unfortunately what a lot of fandoms do. However it becomes a problem when the general audience starts doing it as well just to find something interesting about this boring shell of a character. Of course i mainly blame the writers for seemingly having a boner for Bakugo with how they try to put so much emphases on how "cool and strong" he is, to the point where Midoriya won't shut up about how much he "respects" him, even though we ALL know he only cares about Bakugo's quirk. In fact my biggest issue with Midoriya is how he doesn't challenge anyone's idea of him not being able to be a hero. He truly doesn't believe he can be a hero without a quirk no matter what he says otherwise, and the show agrees by just giving him a "get out of jail free card" with One-For-all. It feels so cheap that the show doesn't introduce a "Rock Lee" kinda character that shows that Midoriya took the "easy" way out with All Might, since he sure wasn't working out or training to become a hero before he met All Might.

He's misunderstood like Goku and other MCs out there and has to deal with this toxic anime community and immature toxic takes that the character doesn't deserve really. He's the most accurate timid emotional nerd to people like me or others sensitive and analytical and awkward like him in real life. And his development is very accurate too. His character is changing the world and making an impact in this toxicity each day and he's great for that as well in my book. Don't take a great and relatable character like Izuku for granted, we won't get another MC like him and people will regret it once it's over. It's funny the various takes you have with the character with being he's a great MC and one of the best of all time or I hate him and he's the worst, which stranglely think what makes him also such an amazing character too, that constant push and pull between positive and negative takes and reactions he gets. Like all MCs, he's not perfect but he is great and well written and accurately written too. Izuku is an excellent MC in my book and very relatable.

It seems pretty clear Izuku will come out on top, and all the toxic takes will age poorly that come out with his character directly resisting their toxic values and personal world view and other type of characters they praise over him. Most people love Izuku so non of this matters too much in the end, toxic Deku haters are just a loud minority. And now I always like to say, toxic Deku haters are basically Bakugo, especially season 1. Which makes Izuku an even more greater character looking back if you think about it, along with Bakugo, and Horikoshi's Goated writing.
