    • Immigration is a symptom. We need a thriving economy that creates high paying jobs. Those higher wages will better support organic family planning. This coupled with moderated immigration will sustain Canada's workforce. The improved wages, along with tackling inflation to reduce rates and improve buying power, plus a true focus on addressing the supply side of real estate is the only way to get back to a normal real estate market. The mom and pop landlord have been made out to be criminals by Trudeau. Inflation and rate hikes are the largest factor driving unaffordability, all caused by Trudeau's out of control spending over the last 9 years.

And the problem with the consumer carbon tax is that we also get (at least in part) a chunk of the tax imposed on each step of the supply chain. (The rebate cheques don't cover all that.) And 2 of my mum's PSWs used to be nurses in the native countries. They have given up trying to do so here. This was a very good interview. Thank you!

    • @@conwaysmith9167 At what point does this budget consider someone "rich"? As far as I know, that has always been a thing where you enter a higher tax bracket and start paying more taxes. The problem I see right now is people who are struggling to make ends meet are working two jobs, and getting slammed with higher taxes for making more money to the point where it pretty much negates the worth of entering a higher bracket.

  • She did a good job restating her question after his first response didn't seem to directly answer her. Pierre did a great job clarifying that he did respond, just with a different solution. It's not will you or will you not tax landlords, but he'll allow Canadians to access homes and cheaper rent by increasing housing. I'm not against "taxing the rich" but clearly if you only do that, they'll just raise rent and pass it onto renters. I can afford a very expensive rent. I should be able to also afford a cheaper mortgage.

    @lography6917@lography691727 күн бұрын
  • This is probably provincial, but deal with Ontario's tenant board. IT IS ATTROCIOUS! Tenants can stay in a place not paying rent for months, then you have to wait for 6 months for a hearing. Then another 2 months for getting the verdict and then there is a big chance the board is going to allow the tenants to stay with a payment schedule. If they fail to make the first payment, it will take another 1 to 2 months before you can get a sherif in to kick tenants out. That is 9-10 months of NOT getting paid and you can't even go to small claims to get money of people who don't have money because they don't work. You wonder why landlords are raising the prices? It's so that these kinda of people have no chance to get in. Think on that!
