Big Design Ideas For Tiny Bedrooms! 💡
Our bedrooms are often the most overlooked spaces when it comes to the design of our homes, and yet the average person will spend 26 years of their lives in bed. There are a few really good design principles that can help you make the most of your tiny / small bedroom or sleeping loft and in this episode we explore some of our favourite ideas.
Hopefully you can find some design inspiration here. Over the years, we have visited hundreds of tiny homes and here we have highlighted some of our favourite concepts that have helped to transform sleeping lofts and compact bedrooms into sanctuary spaces of rest and respite.
We hope you enjoy the episode!

wish u could link each vid that was featured here. love the pullout bed but haven't seen that home yet, looks like the rest of it is well thought out too!
❤
I love it when someone gets a "Fair Enough" out of Bryce 😆
I admire designs that manage to have headroom in the bedroom, and that have safe stairs with railings. Not a fan of ladders or slippery wooden platforms that have to be navigated during the night without anything to hang onto.
I totally agree with you. Ladders & slippery wooden platforms are not practical or safe.
These bedrooms are so beautiful and unique in their own way. I do really like Shea's tiny home design.
Good one, Bryce. I've been impressed with the clever sleep spaces shown. A bedroom is as important as any other space no matter how small. Comfort and a restful night is crucial to having a good day.
My dream is to have a tiny house. Love all of the interior design in this video. Nice sharing my friend, just come to my country Indonesia, a tropical country In Asia. There is a lot of unique tiny house.
I love the compilation style of this video. Because even though I love the full tours and their stories. These are great to focus on designing the individual spaces
I'd love to see a compilation of home office ideas!
Really loving these room-specific vids from previous builds. There’s such a wide variety of benefits and options presented! ❤
I wrote this comment on your subsequent video, but believe it belongs here: I commend you Bryce, and Rasa, for your services to humanity in sharing and showcasing incredible attainable housing alternatives, and fashioning an empowered multi-national community with hope and knowledge of truly sustainable home ownership in our modern world. For over a decade your efforts have inspired countless individuals, couples, and families to take a leap into a proven rewarding unknown, and I'm filled with gratitude for the pioneering works done by yourselves, and others, that continue to push the envelope in building a more accessible future for us all. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and appreciation of our work. That means a lot. ❤️
Love the compilation videos, they’re a great resource for people trying to design the perfect space for themselves
Another great video Bryce and Rasa, I’m looking forward to starting my own tiny house build with a twist in the next three months. Your videos have been truly inspiring and have definitely been the catalyst to me starting my own tiny house journey 🙂
Sounds like a great project! Be sure to let us know how it goes! 😊
Love your series of compiling and highlighting design choices for the different parts of tiny homes. Would be interested in seeing a compilation of different ways that people are handling the heating/cooling and energy use of their homes.
And humidity! I’ve seen it addressed in tiny house showers/bathrooms but it also seems to be an issue when it rains a lot or in very cold places. How to get rid of excess moisture while having excellent insulation.
Always so nice to go back & see these creative people & ideas again.✌️
So glad you made this video!!! I was trying to remember which ones were my favorites concerning bedrooms. I'm older & do not want to go crawling around on my knees, or bent over like an old gnome, to go sleep or make my bed. I don't like the messy bed look. I once saw a video of someone who had a "vardo style" barrel roof for extra room on the sides as well. I had already thought of lowering the kitchen ceiling. The bedroom on a gooseneck trailer that was well equipped with storage and space was great! I also like the short stair on the side with the gallery deck/walk across the side wall.
Skylight people! SKYLIGHT! Love this channel so much!
I'm in love with tiny homes. My folks just got one and the bedroom loft/steps design is great--drawers and storage in the stairs, and they form playspace platforms for the lil grandkids.
Fantastic video montage showing the many bedroom configuration options! For those with beds on lifts, it'd be great to hear about (and see) the manual override features they might have installed, so if the components failed or power outage, how do they lower their bed. Look forward to more similar videos, i.e., kitchens, baths, storage, etc. ☮
That was my immediate question too… I’d only want a manual lift if I had any such set up.
its really fascinating to see the creativity, personality and inspiration for each of the homeowners in their chosen design.
Some really nice lofts and design ideas. Personally I like the beds that store in the ceiling and come down, the drop down beds.
I do as well. A loft won’t work for me at all. Everything must be on one level for me.
excellent recap of bedroom situations/options...and nice to see some of the people we "met" thanks to you again!
Thank you Bryce for showing us these very impressive tiny homes love that people are now going for stair cases or main floor bedrooms plenty of storage these were designed very well. I love the tinys where one can stand up up in a loft
One thing that this video brings to me is enthusiasm for tiny home living overall. Great job Bryce!
Thank you Bryce and Rasa, for sharing these ideas. Fabulous!
My dream is to have a tiny house on a piece of land.
You can't go wrong with a mirror in a bedroom.... awkward moment, lol.
So funny! 😂
I’m glad to see this video about bedrooms in tiny homes. There are several things I’ve always wondered about, though. So many bedrooms imply contortions to make the bed. Beds are routinely shoved up against a side wall. There have been numerous shows that talk about ceiling height and ventilation but I can’t recall any show that considers any other practicalities beyond the raised end of the bed and conventional narrow closets and baskets. While all of these are practical and valid there are other important elements that are never touched upon. There never seems to be any bedside reading lamps. Any tape of reading in bed always shows daylight lighting the room. Nor are separate bedrooms for couples ever shown. Sleeping in separate rooms tends to be about different sleep cycles and not about loving your SO. Nor do you talk about people needing to get up at night needing to tinkle. I wish you would occasionally highlight older people who have embraced living tiny. You could consider trading your trademark focus on making tea and a vegetarian meal at the end of your wonderful show and instead search out older people who aren’t the vigorous and highly fit folks who typically populate your show.
Thank you Bryce. Great idea of making a video focused on sleeping spaces, specially for people like I who despise sleeping loaves.
Great to see such a variety of creative solutions to the problem of headspace in the sleeping area. So many talented designers out there! Thanks for sharing 😊
Great compilation, Rasa & Bryce. Excellent channel!
I like when you have a theme then show multiple examples.
Enjoyed watching your videos because even tiny houses can look and feel comfortable & spacious. 😊❤👍
Absolutely fantastic video, Bryce, Rasa, and Sarah!!! 🎉🎉🎉 This was incredibly well executed, informative, and engaging. Can't wait to create my own tiny home one day!!! Thank you!!!
I've been being your subscriber for a long time Mr. Bryce. And your video never disappointed me. Your video is perfect. Have a very good editing and quality. How great you are showing the beauty of the house and also the beauty of the owner's lifestyle. I really like the idea of video without any backsong just a short authentic instrument at the beginning and the end of video. Because I really enjoy the conversation and interaction between you and the tiny house owner. I learn english so much from the talk and also life lessons. How you try to dig into the reasons why people choose tiny house living is just amazing. How genuine your reaction to the house design and your respect to the people's choice is really nice of you. Hope you and family have a great life 😊
Bravo! Great way to expand your language exposure. I listen to fairy tales in German for some of mine. What’s your mother tongue?

It amazes me that so few tiny houses have window and door screens. Do they live in places with no mosquitos? How is that possible?
I’ve been wondering that too.
I think it's mostly or only in the U.S. that windows have built-in screens.
In UK and never seen a screen used
@@user-rt5ee4rg6v I think Europe has so little wild land compared to the USA, and so many swamps were drained over the many many generations, that the insect population could not thrive anymore… and following that would be less birds who survive because of those insects.
New Zealand resident here. Built in bug screens are super rare, and the most common one is a door that has a thick painted chicken wire supporting the mesh, which looks a bit tacky/like an industrial door. And it's certainly not that we don't have insects, we have LOTS of insects, we just culturally are used to living with the occasional fly, mosquito or beetle visit inside. Also possibly the far less risk of diseases from being biten by mosquitos here reinforces that culture. That being said, I am putting up screens in my eventual loft bedroom. 😂
I Love being able to go back and see all these Tinys again. It made me reconsider if I still liked certain design ideas they presented and why. I’ll be saving this post for future reference! Thank you!
Great focus video! Not only a great resource for ideas, but nice to revisit the many tiny-homes and people you've had on the channel. Outstanding!
Yeah would be interested in air quality issues, maybe the use of Heat recovery systems or energy recovery systems...
👍🏼👍🏼
Seeing this array of tiny home bedrooms was enlightening .
Interesting to see that there's so many ways to arrange bedroom and yet none would look near similar to the one in the tinyhouse of my dreams.
Very informative video. Lots of options for bedroom design! Where ever the bedroom is in a tiny house, I would definitely want enough height to stand up!
Loved this. Thank you Bryce & Rasa
Fabulous episode. 👏👏
So many clever ideas. I’m planning my tiny for upcoming retirement…I believe an elevator bed will perfectly suit me for when I have a difficult time with stairs/ladders. The interesting pull out guest bed under an elevated kitchen is also brilliant! So many amazing options. Thank you!
Loved these ideas! I would also consider sound and sound barriers. I'm married to a night owl, so I use a white noise machine while I sleep to mask noise. I think this is one issue people don't consider enough in small, shared spaces.
On-point compilation! I clearly remember most of these featured houses because I actually saved them.😊 I kept a folder where I saved tiny houses with features I admire, design or layout-wise.
Pulling these bedrooms from your archive was like going back down memory lane. SO many wondrous tinies with equally wonderful people have featured on your channel. Some truly awesome ideas & design ideas here but you omitted the guy who'd plumbed water in his bedroom loft so he could grab a glass in the night/early morning without having to go downstairs! Don't ask me which vid!!!
Yes Indeed 💯 ❤ Tyfs this Special video it helps a lot with the design ideas I have for my Tiny Home Sanctuary! Always A Delightful Experience Watching Bryce & Rasa! Beautiful Compilation! Focusing on each room What a Great Idea! I have So many files of the Beautiful Homes where I love certain features whew lol 😁🤣 this eliminates me looking through entire vids or fast forwarding to get to the brm or kitchen or storage etc! Yall are the Best! Many Blessings To you all!❤ Great!😁❤
Oh there were some stunning bedroom's in this video...I personally like the lift bed's if I had a tiny house I'd do that...falling over or down the stairs is not ideal when we get older we don't heal as fast as we used to...thank you Bryce and Rasa xo 💜🦘
Fantastic. I love seeing all of these homes we’ve seen over the years. So many of my favorites were included in this!
Fantastic idea for bedrooms. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for sharing all these Beautiful tiny homes ❤❤❤
Great fun revisiting all these wonderful homes and equally cool people. Thank you!
Loved this video! I'm trying to get a feel for how I want to go about making my bedroom in my tiny home and this made me think about a lot of different things. I'm loving your individual videos to select 'rooms' of tiny homes!
Truly informative and great ideas! Thanks to you all!❤
How do you want/need holidays anywhere else when you live in such cosy well-thought homes ? (Personaly I struggle so much that i did not leave since 4years, telling the family to come over from time to time. How do you manage ?)
Thanks for sharing. It seems that the loft bedroom was something that was part of a lot of the early tiny houses. It was good to see alternatives to this. I was curious about any tiny houses where the bed coverts from a couch of some kind. I noticed that a lot of the van life people would have a couch or sitting area convert to a bed, sometimes with accordion wood slats that pull out with half of them staying where they were. I think I saw some tiny houses having this, but they seemed to be for guest beds. You mentioned the murphy bed idea or a fold down bed, but it seemed that you did not show them, except for the nice rollout from an elevated floor bed. I thought I remembered some fold downs that you had shown on your show. I remember that you had shown a kitchen table that converts to a bed in one of your tiny house videos. This is one that I see from the world of RVs. All of these ideas are for, perhaps, even tighter homes than the usual tiny home. You had asked if you missed some bed set ups and I thought I would catalog them for you here. Perhaps you could do a show on these very tight tiny houses where these space saving ideas are used. Blessings and Keep Up all the good work that you do. I do not think I have missed any of your videos.
Great designs and ingenuity all combined with beauty
I LOVE your compilation videos!
I love these summary options clips you guys make from lots of past tiny house design visits.. it's so helpful! Thank you so much. Super interesting.. and a really great reminder of some favourite videos to go back and watch too ❤
Love this post, so interesting to see so many clever sleeping options in one video. Bravo!
The lighting needs to be enough to read by but not enough to think that you're in a hospital operating room. And no TVs and screens of any kind.
I really like these reflective design idea videos.
I really like these room-specifics compilation videos. I guess the next one will be about bathrooms and I can't wait. But I'd also like to see a video about more problematic things like stairs for example. Where to put them (in the middle, at the back behind the bathroom..etc), how large, the height of the steps..etc Or the problematic of plumbing.. and other things that you should think about before taking the big step and designing your own tiny
Another great compilation Bryce. Is there any way you can include links to the full videos in the description? We thought we had watched all your videos but there are some here that we haven’t seen and would love to see more. 😊
👍🏼👍🏼
Interesting how many cool and various ideas people in tiny houses come up with while in conventional houses/apartments, they all look pretty much the same other than the choice of linens. Lol.
Great selection and considerations. In the spirit of using vertical space on a single level house, I’m surprised more people don’t have beds on a raised platform with deep drawers / pull out wardrobe hanging space underneath, with one or two steps up only. (A few good examples on NTS). A loft compromise if you like. This is as alternative to just one level of drawers and allows easier access than gaslift and less expensive than elevator beds. Perhaps a new area to explore for LBIATH?
Thank you so much for this video. So many good ideas...that's what I needed. The next one with bathrooms or kitchen...please❤😊
Awesome video Bryce🎉 Great ideas👍! JO JO IN VT 💞
Love this !!!! And seeing past favorites 😘👍
Mirrors can shine light in your eyes if u arent careful with the placement.
So beautiful ❤
My dream to have tiny homes one day
brilliant; thank you
This was a great collection of very different design choices of bedrooms in tiny houses- lofts with standing room, down stairs bedrooms, lots of window and mirror ideas and so much more! Fantastic video, as always!
Can you make the intro song to your videos available for download. Like if that could be my ringtone I'd be so haopy. It's so calming and synonymous with your channel. Lol, that aside, thank you for this. I'm hoping to go tiny one day and have been bsck and forth between a loft and a ground level bedroom sleeping area. I def do not want to deal with ladders and what not so I know I'll go for a ground level bedroom or an actual staircase and raise the ceiling height. I plan on staying spry even in old age, but if I do end up growing old with my tiny, I want to plan for the future and I like the idea of just brushing my teeth and walking straight to my bed and go to sleep. Doing my night skin routine and dental hygiene, to then climb a ladder will almost wake me up again and will make it harder to sleep. I even brush my teeth like an hour before I go to bed because I've found if I do it right before lying down, just the action of brushing wakes me up again and I go to sleep much later than if I did it earlier. Love all these designs and how personal they are to each of these homeowners. I think I've watched every single video you've uploaded on your channel. And from all of them my takeaway is that the loft bed design is not for me. The motorized platform bed system that can be raised and hidden into the ceiling is also something I could see working for me. But it's also expensive, and I imagine its draws a good bit of energy when used. And its lifted and raised twice a day. Also bedrooms give you a zen escape space. I'm totally going off on a tangent now lol. In summary, love this upload and was super helpful for us future tiny home owner hopefuls :))
Great vlog as always lovely programme 😊
It would be nice to add the link to each tiny hourse moving forward. Off to find Emily’s Tiny.
with time stamps please
Great Video! This one was not Boring🔥💪
I built a modern cabin one leval on a slab . I am getting older , I don't want to climb stairs or laders .

Dream home
I watched from Capetown
It would be great to have links to each of these episodes shown in these compilation videos…
All awesome! I like beds that can disappear (easily), freeing up flexible-use floor space. 👍😎🇨🇦💃
why do we never see the sleeping room below the living room? most people like to sleep cool. lower in the house is a lower temp right? I hope to see some ideas for having the sleeping room below :)
Another great Video, Bryce. Thank you. Any chance of doing one to explain how to go about finding a spot for a Tiny House? I see on the internet about it from the land owners perspective, but not for someone finding a block/spot and what criteria you would need etc? Thanks, Andy.
Sure thing: kzhead.info/sun/dJZwlbOubKuLg30/bejne.htmlsi=-WlWqkyspizVWkki
Hey Bryce, loving this video!! I wondered if you can you share the link to Sheila and Noels video as I cant seem to find it, thanks so much!

Which house had the sliding floor to enclose the space? I like the idea of that. It is found at 17:35
This might be a weird question but where did she get her Grey long sleeve rompers that ties?! Lol it looks so comfy?! Idk her name but it's probably close to half way through the video
❤☕
Enjoy your coffee Andy! Hope all is well with you. :)
