  • I went straight from 2 min breath hold to 3:10 on my first day of a freediving course. Instruction and coaching helps so much!

  • I can see 4 minutes in the distance. Been following your 'Breathe with Me' videos and I'm reaching 3 minutes without too much trouble now. ✌

  • Hi Gert, I learn so much from your videos. How do you cope with that 'exploding' feeling? For me it's unbearable and panic took over my common sense to end the breathhold. The funny thing is that I feel great after every static session!

    @mingminz1997@mingminz1997 Жыл бұрын
    • hey. well for the sake of the video I used the word "exploding" but we all know no one is going to explode right? 😁 so when you recognize that this is just a feeling that's alleady half of the work done 🙏 the other half is becoming comfortable with that feeling so it doesnt feel like exploding anymore. peace 🙏

  • Hi Gert, thanks for your videos, they are really helpful for beginners like myself! Is dry static different (easier or more difficult) vs. regular static apnea in the pool? I can hold my breath 4 minutes on « land » but I was wondering what I should aim for when trying my first breath hold underwater 😅

    @nobuyukidu94@nobuyukidu94 Жыл бұрын
    • hi, freediving is a tool to get to know yourself better. it's not something in which you "aim" for certain numbers. Aiming for numbers is a problem, cause it puts stress on you. Get rid of expectations, and enjoy the journey. Peace ✌️

  • hi great videos! Quick question - is it normal not to have contractions? i heard they usually start after around 1:30? I just did a 3:30 minute breathhold static in the pool with a freediving coach, and she noticed i didn't have any contractions...

    @williamdunn1000@williamdunn1000 Жыл бұрын
    • sometimes it happens yes. but it's rare. maybe you were subconsciously suppressing the contractions. it's possible

  • Longest I’ve done is 2 and a half minutes, but I’m getting there, I started with a max of 1 minute 45 seconds. One day. 🤙

  • I also just hit my 4 Minutes and 31 seconds today and it felt amazing, this was also the same case for me, my best time before was 3:37, now I nearly prolonged it with 1 more minute, with this experience in mind I also have a question, when I got up exhaled and inhaled again, I realized my hearing was very quiet or subdued, I also had this hearing sensation when I hit 3:37, but this time it felt more deep, was I maybe close to passing out ? I was still in very control of my movements, didn't really feel like shaking, but one of my mistakes was also that I didn't do my recovery breath properly, I was so happy and excited that I didn't really do a recovery breath, just breathed in normally after, rookie mistake.

    • practise recovery breaths on EVERY breathhold, even if it's just 1 minute. 🙏 have a buddy and have this person watch you. if your lips are blue then you were hypoxic. if not, all is probably fine.

  • A couple months ago I got a 4:32 dry static breath hold as well! Out of curiosity, what’s your current pb?

    @Pscribbled@Pscribbled Жыл бұрын
    • 6mins. ive never trained specifically for static. but I might in the next couple of months

      @gertleroy@gertleroy Жыл бұрын
  • What is the diference between dry and wet static? Before my "official" training started I did 4:20 dry. Now it is a total disaster because I've almost completely let go with the training. I think it's time to come back ;)

    @andrzejfabianski4948@andrzejfabianski4948 Жыл бұрын
    • in competition it has to be done wet. you will find after some time it's easier in the water, allthough as a beginner you may prefer dry, but that's just because you're not comfortable in the water yet.

      @gertleroy@gertleroy Жыл бұрын
    • @@gertleroy I'm not into competitions. I was just thinking how it is wet-dry how my time will change in water. Time to try it ;)
