Great breakdown Jesse. It’s disappointing but fighters who have star power have been getting shafted for years. He’s also not the first former champ to not get what he deserves. Fighters have been in his position and not got what they deserve before, so it's not just the political thing, the UFC is catering to their favorites as always. Strickland should be getting a rematch but the UFC does what they want and you aren’t going to make them change their mind, literally no fighter can. It’s a shame but he should know the reality of things, even if it’s not right.
Izzy is 10x the star Sean is. Ddp Izzy is a 5x bigger fight than anything Strickland can generate. Idk what’s so hard to figure out.
How do you figure Sean “deserves” a rematch? First off, there is no set guidelines to determine who fights for the title. It is not a competitive architecture. It’s by choice of the promoters. Secondly, Sean had zero title defences. None. So why should he deserve a rematch? Cause it was a close fight? Again, there are no set guidelines to dictate when a fighter gets a rematch. As you noted, other champs have not received a rematch after losing, despite being a long standing champion. But if that champion is not making the company money, then they get opportunity which is equivalent to what they bring to the table. In this scenario, the UFC may have multiple reasons to not give a rematch. But the general consensus is that he doesn’t deserve it. Now maybe it would be a fair or just thing to give him one, but he absolutely does not “deserve” it

You're effectively saying that he should be selectively honest, so as to maximise his financial rewards. That's exactly the opposite of what he says he stands for. I get it, but he seems to be like me in that he's SICK of that BS. People are getting pretty sick of lying grifters, serving hidden agendas, whether it's money or something more sinister. We've become so used to advertising, which is lies and psychological manipulation, that honesty is now seen as dangerous. Sean is a breath of fresh air. He's the most SANE person that I've seen in the public eye for years. I've got no doubt that he's a good dude through and through, just more introspective than most. He's talking about 'intrusive thoughts', which a lot of people have experienced. It's a bit odd, but I had an uncle, a solid decent guy, who had a couple of kids, and he was terrified that someday he might deliberately hurt them. He went so far as to tell his doctor, thinking there was something wrong with him. The doc told him it wasn't unusual, and just a side-effect of being hyper protective of them. I suspect that Sean says these things for a similar reason. He's probably just a bit worried that he has these thoughts and hopes for reassurance that it doesn't mean he's crazy. He doesn't HAVE to tell people about it - there must be a reason he's chosen to. Maybe being a highly trained fighter can cause a subconscious fear that you may really hurt people some day, especially in introspective fighters. I wouldn't be surprised if some military men have similar thoughts.

its not about how long he held the title, its about how he won the fight but got screwed by the judges. Shogun Rua got an immediate rematch when he got shafted vs Machida and Shogun wasnt even the champion he was the challenger lol. If Dricus beat him convincingly by decision or finished him than no he doesn't deserve one but he won that fight so they gotta run it back. And hes not spreading hate at all, hes just calling out the lunacy.
