  • when the ducks commentators say “I hate the power the officials have to call the unsportsmanlike penalty against Kronen”. As an official myself, there is a fine line to where the coaches, players, staff, and fans need to maintain control of their own emotions and anger. Whether it’s disagreement with a goal or penalty, the rule book has evolved to prevent any abuse of officials as many of us officials can only deal with so much bickering as this can then interfere with us being able to do our job by not being bias or driven by our emotions…

    • @@coreymcdonald7745 i mean, if zucker isn't battling for the puck at the backdoor, are you saying ned would have dragged his own ankle (with the puck underneath it) completely over the goal line on his own? and that zucker's stick had nothing to do with ned's pad slide changing direction? honestly, you could be right. watching it again, ned might have flared his own leg into the net at the same time as zucker pushed the pad. in the end, it's a judgment call by the refs whether the contact was incidental or not. nobody's gonna win this debate in youtube comments. but to me, there's plenty of evidence to overturn it for goalie interference under NHL rule 69.1, 69.3, and 69.7 because zucker's contact with ned is anything but incidental, and the rule says non-incidental contact = no goal. you've got all the elements: a player is initiating contact with the goalie, trying to push a puck into the net. the puck is no longer visible because it's caught under the pad. zucker isn't actually touching the puck itself but rather the front face of ned's pad. in that sense, it's very close to the textbook definition of pushing the goalie into the net because the puck is under the goalie.

    • There’s a pretty simple concept, stay out of the blue. Goaltender must have the ability to have full range of motion in his crease. You can hear the referee yelling at him to get out of the blue. Literally plants his entire body inside the crease.

    • @@cia5942 I've seen a quadzillion goals scored with an opposing player in the paint. Just being in the blue isn't call for goalie interference.

    • @@munkustrap2 did you read my comment? He impaired his ability to move freely inside the crease because his entire body was standing in the blue paint. If the puck is in the crease attacking players have a right to fight for a loose puck, then they can enter the blue and incidental contact may be allowed. Seems you don’t really understand the rule….

  • LOL the bruins & flyers are goaltender interference. Got to love how the red wing announcers always play up their failures. Penguins scored & they assume the calls going to be overturned & when it rightfully wasn't they cry foul. There's not enough to show that the Penguins player or stick pushed the leg of the wingers tender enough to put it over the line it looks pretty over the line already when the goal & player/ stick meet fighting for a rebound.

    • You're a real rocket surgeon. Coach gets ejected in the first period, ref gets run in the second...hmmm... Yeah, that player is gonna get hit with an indefinite suspension while the NHL looks at every single angle of every single camera in the arena. They'll look at body weight distribution, balance, edge contact on the ice...everything. And when they conclude that the hit was deliberate, that player will never step on the ice in an NHL game again. If they find any, and I mean ANY, evidence that the coach may be responsible, he's a lifetime ban too. They'll send a message, real quick. And then you have the lawsuit from the official, against the player and the coach, and quite possibly the team itself. Great idea.
