  • 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 Sabalenka 🚀 The Belarusian snaps the World No.1's red clay win streak at 16 matches to claim her first title on the dirt! How impressed were you with the new WTA World No.4 in Madrid this week?

    • Ruthless performance throughout the whole tournament, a decade ago azarenka finished runner up here to kvitova, also to serena next year. Finally sabalenka got it for her country. Also she gave a good birthday gift to herself.

Aryna was ok... she should have won in straight sets .. it shows that her game - IMO- is kind of dumb.. very much power power power but no change in pace according to the occasion... it seems she just wants to overpower her opponent at all times... which shows she should kind of lacks some finesse but whatever.. she won this is just my opinion ... she has a great body.. she is hot... and it was not a bad game overall... the way to beat her is to move the ball from side to side as opposed to go toe to toe power for power shot...

  • Well deserved win by Sabalenka - definitely a contender for RG if she maintains her measured aggressive play and reduce her impatient/loose points.

  • Wow….. when she’s on, she’s on. With her power she can go far. She needs to throw in some drop shots and she will be almost unbeatable. She has the power she just needs a little Finesse. I enjoy her game.

  • Congratulations to Aryna! powerful tennis! Plus a never say die attitude second almost to none. I also love Ash Barty's ability to cut the heavy serves to her back hand on the ad court with a one hand slice return. Such a smart play. It returns the ball, while cutting off its speed and weight, and gets it to the back side of the baseline, and right back into play. Such an intelligent move. Really wow. Congrats to both ladies. We are learning from you all!

  • Big fan of Barty, but was disappointed with her mindset in the 3rd set-- Sabalenka was clearly struggling to handle those low slices from Barty, her serve was also shaky and her confidence was dipping. Barty should have gone for the kill, especially when she had those break points. Someone like a prime Serena would have jumped at the opportunity and stifled any comeback. She needs to develop that "Mamba mentality" "Pitbull doggedness" of Serena, if she wishes to be ranked among the all time greats.

    @astro6020@astro60203 жыл бұрын
    • True. Barty has that nice girl image. Serena or even Azarenka for that matter, would have been all over Sabalenka in the 3rd set.

    • I don't think anyone today is going to be an 'all time great', and comparing two different animals is an apples and oranges argument. To take your preferred animal Serena and biasedly mold someone else into her is plain silly. As finesse players like Graf and Henin proved there is more than one way to skin a cat, mamba, pitbull, dog and whatever chimera you can dream up !

    • Barty was overpowered by Sabalenka. She fought back well though and nearly did another 3 set escape but faded in the last 2 games. Being number 1 makes her a target.

      @psifoo@psifoo3 жыл бұрын
    • @@psifoo I didn't see it that way (overpowered). The biggest diff in this match was the service game - Saba flipping the script (Stuttgart) on first serves.

      @demigod1013@demigod10133 жыл бұрын
    • @@demigod1013 You write fancy words, but it makes no sense and reeks of racism. Graf and Henin were not outwardly expressive like Serena Williams, yes... but had the same intensity and killer instinct. Aping someones physical game or attribute is yes, plain silly. But not so with mental attributes like doggedness, perseverance, intensity, will power, equanimity etc. Every player needs and should develop these attributes, if they're looking to further their game.

  • Sabelenka should always look like the winner in this matchup. The reason is much more free points on first serve and first strike tennis where Barty hasn't barely able to move the ball flys past her. Although the errors should be higher for Sabelenka as she goes for broke more, the craftiness of Barty shouldn't win over powerful hitting. That's why myself and Andy Roddick are most of the times in awe of Ash's dominance and her ability to get through her taller bigger power hitting opponents when she does. Not this time.
