If O’Malley didn’t dress like a confused teenager and acc had a personality he would be liked

Suga is quite funny when he’s deadpan and casually talking. It’s when he tries to be loud or flashy like Connor where he falls short
The funny thing is that most people don’t even know that O’Malley got suspended for testing positive for PEDs, twice.
@@Rariix22I noticed that too. Hes not actually a terrible guy but he tries way too hard to be this big personality and he just ends up looking like a huge asshole.
The clown hair has grown on me tbh, it's goofy for sure but at least he's visually different from everyone else. I mean there's only so much you can do to differentiate yourself from other fighters when you're only wearing gloves and trunks in the ring. He's super fun to watch fight so there's that even if you don't like how he looks. But I agree his personality is relative to stale white bread. He's not cut out for the Conor persona, he should just stick to doing what he does best, getting those highlight finishes.

I like O'malley if you watch clips of his podcast and other youtube videos he's been in he seems like a cool guy. He just wants to force himself to be a shit talker at press conferences but it usually falls flat and is cringey. Great fighter though
Agreed- when he's relaxed he's pretty funny and easygoing. Seems like a regular guy, just hidden under the goofy tats and hair.
He was also suspended by USADA, for testing positive for PEDs, multiple times…
agreed he is a good fighter
It's dumb that we expect fighters to be characters and entertaining at press conferences and so on. It should be like in other sports, where they simply awkwardly answer one or two questions from the press and are then left alone.
I genuinely don't understand why Jon Jones still has a significant fanbase. I get that he's a great fighter, but, surprisingly, so many people are willing to overlook the fact that Jones is a terrible person. As far as O'Malley goes, he's a divisive figure. In terms of his fighting ability and performances in the Octagon, O'Malley is great, but he's terrible on the mic and he's already calling out Topuria when he only has one title defense.
I think it’s cause people with a certain unhinged mindset similar to Jones can get behind him. They see themselves in him and get satisfaction by seeing him do what they cannot. I think your assessment of O’Malley is dead on. You said it perfectly
not saying this as a jones fan but if you are in the goat convo you'll probably always have a fanbase regardless of who they are as a person
I think it is because no one truely cares. Fans wouldnt mind if their star did the sickest shit and the haters - lets be honest - secretly like when they fuck up so that their hate is justified. You see it with a lot of actors, singers, sport persons etc. - people dont care about the actual victims
Its because I dont expect cage fighters to be model citizens. And u dont really know these people 'oh this fighter is such a nice guy' when he could be abusing his wife kidss and dog but just didnt eget exposed for it
Jones is hated because he’s a shitty person inside the cage and outside of the cage. He’s a habitual cheater
Pantoja is likeable?? Every single time he wins a fight everyone makes fun of him for being a hugger and backpack
Only casuals say that
Forgettable is a much more accurate description of him.
Because Pantoja beats up all of their favourite inept one-dimensional fighters...
he’s mostly talking about their personalities
He knows that 125 doesn't have too much ko power so he fights as a berserker and that make his fights very entertaining. And after that speech about his father a lot of people really started to pay attention on him
Alex pereira’s fans are kinda fucking it up
When they think he can do well at HW, pretty chill otherwise
@@Ake-TL He's got a strikers chance at HW and you cannot deny that. It's heavyweight, the potential is there for every fighter.
@@Duncle0 I think he could do pretty well at heavyweight if he puts on like 10 pounds or so. While i do admit that his grappling isnt quite there and if he were to fight say tom aspinall or curtis blaydes they would finish him pretty easily on the ground, i think him vs gane or pavlovich would be absolute wars and something i would definitely look forward to if he does move up.
@@Ake-TL No what's worse is they think he can beat Hill (70/30) or Ankaleav (so shot he wins) I know this is MMA and anything can happen but his style and skills are literally not enough to beat Ankaleav especially. He has basically no wrestling and no ground game and his takedown defence is the same as Jan (70% and who got taken down twice starting from R3 and controlled for half the fight) It's stylistically a horror matchup but his fans still want to talk as if he's running through both of them
Oh and Jan has a black belt while Alex has a watered down brown belt
JBJ is actually quite under-hated for the shit he did/is still doing

I would say that Dricus gets disliked because hes constantly switching between shittalk and being respectful. People like that tend to rub fans the wrong way.
That's called being fake which is absolutely true
I think it's because a lot of fighters are not good shit talkers but they're kinda forced to. I think after their first press conference, strickland and dricus dialed it back because they knew they got too personal and actually do respect each other.
Damn I actually love O’Malley
yeah weird take on him lol
He's actually one of my favorite fighters right now. Yes he's weird, but that's good in some way and it works for me. And his fights are very special and entertaining because his technique is so unique and unpredictable.
He is my second fav after Conor
Same. He's fun when he's actually being himself- which is not at the pressers. His short form content and streams are actually somewhat funny. Really chill, intelligent guy who hides it behind more clownish attributes.
Nobody seems to know that O’Malley’s been suspended twice for testing positive for PEDs.
Illia is kinda loved by a lot of people. Granted is Spain and Georgia, so english speaking audience might not dig his vibe that much, but he has a good personality and even after talking mad shit he told that he would fight Max or the Winner between Ortega and Rodriguez

Brandon Moreno is my favorite flyweight, and I still like Alexandre Pantoja. Seeing him celebrate his title wins with his family was quite wholesome.

Alex vs Jiri was so good, really feels the respect between both
Great Video.
Perreira, Edwards and DDP are the only ones I’d agree with
Dricus is not respectful. Did you hear the shit he was saying about child abuse to Strickland and then just manically laughs? People shit on Colby for what he said to Edwards but that is just as bad. Also you talk about Leon mistreating Belal but he has no say over who he fights, only the UFC controls who he fights.
I would say, in terms of the overall fan base, the most hated champion is Sean O’Malley. To the point where he was getting consistently booed while Marlon Vera was getting cheered… in the United States.

Dude how is Pantoja not ranked right next to Jon Jones.. I get that people feel how you do about O'malley (if you're talking about the UFC press conferences and media BS) but if u look at this dudes Vlogs & videos of him outside the UFC media he's actually a pretty interesting dude. His fighting is some of my favorite of all time. I know the press conferences aren't exciting but WHO CARES! The UFC needs to improve how they do their media, stop the brain dead questions, stop not letting the fighters interact with each other.. It's so stale, I don't give a F*ck about "how is the press conference?" What matters is exciting performances and the drive to keep evolving. The whole McGregor thing was a flash in the pan. Notice even the guys who are quote "good at press conferences" barely make an impact anymore because things are just different. In all honesty if you watch O'malley's content that follows him in his life you'll see that he's never been a individual who tries and fight others. He's more of a dork who just will happen to be able to whoop most people's ass but he mostly just trolls the haters because he knows how mad they get over stupid stuff and it's crazy people can't tell he's being sarcastic in a dry dark humor kinda way. Idk why you would rank O'malley so low when you yourself said he's one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC right now.. Idk why people let stuff get in the way of that..
People dont seem to understand that Sean Omalley is polarizing on purpose. If they would watch some of his videos on his channels and podcast hes way more chill. Hating Sean Omalley just makes that person seem like they dont really know who sean is and only sees press conferences.

My personal rankings: Jones - No explanation needed. Topuria - Calls out tons of people outside his division but shuts down everyone in FW after beating a deterred Volk. Edwards - Talks a big game about who he *shouldn't* be fighting. Covington fight sucked. Pantoja - Very skilled fighter but don't have much to say on his persona. Makhachev - Honestly tired of fighters talking about Palestine in the ring, so it kinda ruins it for me, but he seems like a very decent person. O'Malley - Used to have a hate b*ner for him but have come to like him. Very entertaining fighter and can be funny sometimes. Pereira - Has an intriguing aura and prominence to him that I cannot put into words. Always fun to watch. Has an amazing story of overcoming addiction and an epic arc with Adesanya.
